Jun 30, 2010I can see there is some old threads about auto updates, but I cant find any answers.
I wonder if there is a way to auto update all my applications. I take too much time go to marked, downloads and manually update 1 by 1..
Sprint HTC Hero : Can't Upgrade To 1.56.651.2 - Firmware Update Always Reported No Update Available
Dec 2, 2009I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the "Update Available From Sprint" thread, making sure I was on v1.29.651.1, yada yada. Worked on this for a week and a half. Spoke with Sprint, spoke with HTC, no luck. Going to firmware update always reported NO UPDATE AVAILABLE.
Took the phone back to Best Buy and demanded an exchange. After receiving the new phone, went to try to firmware update, it showed that one was available. I asked for my old battery back since it was charged fully so that I could do the update. Put my old battery back in, went to update, NO UPDATE AVAILABLE!
Turns out it was my battery? Put the new one back in and the update was successful. I had scoured the net before but did not notice anyone with this particular issue. I

Nov 8, 2009I'm the proud owner of an unlocked orange uk hero running on t mobile Austria network. I have heard that the newer heroes cant be unlocked because orange have made a deal with htc and changed the codes. I must have been lucky because mine unlocked no problem with the code received from the impel number. My question is if i update the Rom with the orange Rom version on the htc homepage will my phone become Sim locked again, and more worrying will i not be able to unlock it again when it has the new Rom on it?

Oct 29, 2010Today while sitting in class I got a msg on my htc hero saying eclair 2.1 is available to download and install and that it is recommended to do this ota update over a wifi connection....
So what did i do, I obviously waited till i got home and hoped on my wifi with my hero and waited for this message to pop up again..but no msg came
Im currently still running 1.5 and its not rooted yet(dont want to root it)
I also did some research and it said on the htc website that i have to wait another 7 days for this message to pop back up, and to manually check for an update u need to go to settings>about phone>check for update............but i dont have that option anywhere? ive gone through all of my settings and there is no option to check..

Jul 17, 2010A friend of mine has an unlocked T-Mobile Hero (G2) but uses a o2 sim card in it but wants to update to 2.1.He has not done the Rom update from HTC so he can get the first part of the update yet because we dont know which one to do it with.
Does he use the T-mobile one as when he starts the phone up it still has the T-Mobile logos on it and if he does will the phone become locked again?

Jul 1, 2010I did a little while back get a notification that there was an o.t.a. update, presumably the first part of the 2.1 update package from HTC, but i didn't download it. Now that the 2nd part is available i want to update but i've got no notification that its available. Im on o2 but its an unlocked hero anyway. to clarify, i have wifi, mobile internet and background data turned on and have turned the phone on and off a few times.

My Firmware is 1.5, and my Software Version reads 1.0.0.A6288. Build Number is 2.73.751.4 146733 CL#61205 release-keys. Why didn't my phone update?

Dec 5, 2009I have just purchased a second hand G2 Touch on T Mobile, and I want to unlock this and then use it with my 3 sim card. I know this phone uses the old software and want to update it to the new android software.I know I need an unlock code, but what do I do first. Shall I first update the ROM then once that is complete unlock it? Also do I need to use the T mobile ROM from here T-Mobile - Help & Support or the HTC ROM from here ROM Upgrade for HTC Hero_2.73.405.5.I would much rather use the HTC ROM if possible because id rather not have the T Mobile software branding. But will the HTC software work? Can I download this? It asks for my product S/N on the above link, will I be able to find one of these on my G2? I know its just a hero in terms of hardware but does it have this number?So to sum it up, i'm hoping I can get the phone, update the ROM to the latest HTC ROM, then it will ask me for an unlock code which I can buy off a website and enter. Can I do this?

Aug 27, 2010Just checked my phone and had a message saying that an OTA update is ready to be downloaded and installed to my phone. Now I'm already running 2.1 on my hero (3 branded but I used the guide to get the unbranded 2.1 update so running a standard HTC rom) so I was a bit confused as to what this update is actually for, I've checked my phone and under firmware version it says "2.1 -update1" and the software number is "3.32.405.2" anybody got any ideas of what this update is actually for? is it a fix for something or some extra features that have been added?
