I've been the very proud owner of the Hero in Graphite for a week and a half now, and am starting to notice some discoloration around the back casing, and front bottom corners. Can anyone confirm this is an issue, or am I seeing something that should not be taking place?

Anyone know where I can get a replacement? I'm based in the UK but would buy from anywhere trustworthy. I've just dropped and broken the original by the headphone jack.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my mom and I both got new Galaxy S phones yesterday and so far have had no problems, however, today I was helping her with her phone and I noticed that the display is off on her phone. It almost looks like the contrast is set too high or something. It's very strange. Does anyone know if this can be fixed on the phone or if we need to bring it back to the Verizon store.

View 15 Replies View RelatedThe HTC Desire has been the first phone in a pretty long time to get me excited and make me think "I want one!" Doing research just adds to that statement! But I still have one dilemma preventing me from buying currently: what colour to get?! I know, it's something completely basic and non-technical, but could mean a great deal. The main colour is named 'Graphite', known as brown/bronze and many more variations! What exactly is this colour? It intrigues me, looking on the internet, it can look purple, brown, grey, black! This is obviously the most common of the Desires and can be picked up unbranded, with original firmware, etc.
Another option is a black HTC Desire. I gather the black, which I feel I like best, is an Orange-exclusive. Over-branding on their part, but I see black non-branded HTC battery covers are coming out soon, so not a biggie. Further, their over-excessive branded firmware can removed and have it clean clean. Finally is the recently-released Silver variation, 'limited-edition' as they said on eXpansys, but I believe this is a common colour in Holland. Looks nice, but the extra price tag seems a sort of over-kill - probably not worth it. Let me know your opinions on any of this and help me decide. Particularly your thoughts on the standard HTC Desire 'graphite' colour! And I have seen some people switch from the graphite to the black versions - again, let me know which one you like best!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have (UNFORTUNATELY) an Orange branded/locked HTC Hero running the oh-so-old Android 1.5 ROM....what would happen if I tried updating it with the Sprint 2.1 ROM (if this is possible).If it's not possible / will brick my phone, does anyone have any idea when Orange will release the update (not even had the fabled pre-update update which the rest of Europe seem to have had or about to).As an aside, I will NEVER buy an HTC phone again after this s*** is over with. They may wonder why people want iPhones....Apple promise the iOS4 update...they deliver, on time with no malarkey about supposed different carrier versions. Counting the months till I'm out of contract and can sack off my HTC Hero.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday i found a HTC Hero lying around at the office, i asked by boss about it and he said that i could have it if i got i working.The problem is that when u turn it on, u will only see the "Hero logo" and get a small vibrator beep.This is anoying since the phone cant make a USB connection to my computer, so i cant use any official HTC flashing software, im therefore kinda limitet to placing files on the sdcard.

Its been perfectly fine since I installed it over a month ago, but recently my memory card corrupted and now I cannot download any apps off the market.I had an ext2 partition, so I reformatted my memory stick the exact same way it was before it corrupted. Even so, whenever I try to download items from the market they just get stuck on "Starting Download".I literally cannot download ANY apps

The password was not correct so it would not pull in my emails.I can't seem to find out how to go back into my pop3 settings since the HTC Hero email application will not let me view my previous settings to make changes.There must be a way, I am just not seeing it.Please help me with the correct procedure.It tells me to select my email account from the drop down screen in my created email account, so, I select the email address that it shows that I created.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hate the lock screen on the Hero, I know their is a way to turn it off, but i don't like getting a message and then the phone doing something in my pocket. Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.

View 48 Replies View RelatedI dont know what "underclocked" means, but nonetheless the Droid's processing is a bit higher than the Hero's. And also,I know that the Arm Cortex A8 is a better processor than the Qualcomm's in the first place anyways.So, looking at those specs, is the Droid's processing power really that much more superior than the Hero's? Basically, I'm trying to get an idea of how much of the Droid's better performance is due to its processing power as opposed to its higher (and more efficiently coded, im assuming) Eclair OS.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI once had a samsung jet which was great but it was on orange and i wanted it on 3 because i recieved a better signal and wanted their push email. But when i put my three sim into my now unlocked Jet i found that i lacked 3's certificates and couldn't tether or get 3's push email.Anyway this made me decide to upgrade to a 3 hero to gain their functions however it seems their are no "certificate" needed and the hero seems to have its own push email service and can tether easily.SO my question is if i debrand my hero and thus can ugrade to 2.1 android will i still recieve free push email and be able to tether? as i guess if i change my rom it might be hard to go back.

I've been paying attention mostly to the Legend, because it was more similiar specs to the Hero than the Desire does. I've noticed that the new Sense seems to run very smoothly on the Legend with its 600MHz processor. Now, we all know that the Hero can be quite laggy at times, and we all want some performance increase from the update. But how much better really is the 600MHz processor than the Hero's 529MHz? Are the videos of the Legend a good portrayal of how Sense will perform on our Hero's?

I know there is some variation between our update and the 2.1 running on the nexus one. I want to make sure to utilize all of the new bells and whistles that come with the update but I can't find a complete list. Any help would be great. so when will the "When is 2.2 gonna come to the hero?

View 3 Replies View Relatedmost uk networks who say that their plans include unlimited internet allowance actually have a limit of 500mb per month. i am on o2's pay as you go and i get unlimited internet on my phone for each month that i top up �15. i used my laptop to tether my phone's wifi once and ended up wuth a huge bill when i found out that the "unlimited internet" was actually 500mb. if you are listening to internet radio all the time or watching online videos then this 500mb is not enough. so my question is are there any networks who actually do provide unlimited internet allowance for your hero?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAlright well I got my Hero on release date(After going through 3 Pre's! ). Well so far I love it. Battery life has been just fine(And thats with the system at 100% lol), and the apps are amazing. But I have a question. I noticed there's two LED lights at the top of the phone. Yet I've only ever seen one light up! Is this how it is for everyone else? Only my left one lights up(green for texts, and amber for charging). And my friend's G1's Scroll Wheel also lights up, and was just wondering why ours doesn't.
