I'm having a real problem with my phone. My contacts are set up to sync with google which works fine. All my contacts are Google contacts. However, if I create a new contact (setting it as a Google contact), then when it syncs with Google, rather than creating the contact in my GMail account it wipes the contact from my phone.I can't be the only person experiencing this, is there a solution?

I've lived with this problem long enough and searched for solutions to no avail, I hope someone here can help.
1. I create a new contact on my phone and select my googlemail.com when asked "create contact under account"?
2. I save the newly added contact details
3. I then synchronise the phone
4. The newly created account gets deleted from the phone.
For clarification I'm not saving it to the SIM nor to the phone memory, just to my googlemail account.I've read elsewhere that there might be a problem since google added gmail.com accounts in the UK. I now have 2 google accounts (gmail and googlemail) but in practice both seem identical, if I try to sign in to my googlemail account I end up in my gmail account so I doubt if this is the issue. I've tried deleting my googlemail account from my phone with the intention of replacing it with my new gmail account but I get the message that other applications rely on this account and that the only way to remove the account is to do a factory reset. If I create contacts in my gmail account off-line and synchronise my phone then these contacts appear on my phone as expected. It seems strange that this application should delete a newly added contact on the phone but that is exactly what happens. I know I'm not the only one whose experienced this but I've never seen a conclusive resolution, anyone here know how to solve this?
Hero wont sync contacts to Google.. Anyone know any possible fixes? If it is any help: I cannot set a contact as "Google". I restored contacts with MBP and after found out this is a bad idea, is this the problem it causes? Could clearing all contact data fix this (and how do I do this?)

I deleted all my outlook entries (calendar and contacts) from the phone because it was creating duplicates. Now, I am syncing my Hero with my Lotus Notes calendar at work, as well with my Google calendar. I can see all appointments on my phone. However, I can't see Lotus appointments on my Google account, neither my Google calendar entries on my Lotus Notes.
How can I sync them all? If I import my Google entries into Lotus, it will create duplicates in the Phone and vice-versa.
I don't see any advantages for Google entries to be separated from my other entries. I have one list of contacts and that list should be the same across all programs I use. The same for calendars (actually it is useful to have multiple calendars, as long as no duplicates exists).
That, for me, is the biggest drawback of the HTC Hero. My Moto Q was a lot worse phone than the Hero, but the calendar and contacts sync was much better.
First of all, apologies if this is the wrong forum for this topic, I wasn't sure where to post it. But because it's not device-specific and, in a way, "sync" can be considered an app, i thought here would be my best bet. I've got a huge problem: Ever since I got my Magic, and because I didn't like the feature very much, I had the "sync contacts" option to off. I manually entered all the phone numbers & email I had, and was fine with it. Then, today, I thought "oh, wth, i'll turn contact sync so that my gmail will also have my phone numbers and they'll be safe". little did I know. For some inexplicable reason, when synchronizing ended, my phone had downloaded all my google contacts BUT it had completely wiped out my existing phone contacts. At the "view" option in contacts, under the "phone" contacts it shows 0, and it does not recognise my call log or my sms list as sent by known numbers. Oh, and my phone contacts (neither the ones I had before sync, nor the couple I just entered after all this) do NOT show up in my google contacts AT ALL. Is there any way at all to undo this? I want my phone contacts back!Also, is this some sort of bug or error or does sync reallly wipe out all your phone contacts? if so, WHY THE HELL does it do that? I thought synch would be upload phone contacts to gmail, download gmail contacts to phone, keep all of htem in both places. isn't that the point? Why did this happen? I'm pretty sure it never asked me if I wanted to keep my phone contacts or anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got a text message and noticed that the name didn't show up even though it was from a contact. Odd I thought. Just gone into my contacts and all phone contacts have gone. It's completely empty. If I show Gmail contacts they're still there.
I haven't touched the phone since this morning, when they were definitely all there (I know because I text a load of people and looked them up).
I've got them synced with Outlook at home I think so not a major disaster, but very very random and annoying how they've just disappeared.

After I updated my Hero to Android 2.1 I only find my sim contacts in my adressbook. I still has my contacts on the Gmail, but it wont sync.
When I look in my Google sync options the updated date is 25/09/1980 20.46.
The sync icon (white with some round arrows) is showing, but it has frozen. I have tried re-checked the sync button and restarted the phone, but nothing happens..

This phone, as promising as it is, keeps giving me head-aches.On my HTC Hero all my contacts (they are all "Google" contacts) are duplicate. View 29 Replies View RelatedI just installed the ContactSync app on my Hero, and all my contacts are easily been transformed into google contacts. But when I try to sync contacts with Google, it thinks a bit and then comes with an error message:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
When I go into my gmail contacts, there are only 57 contacts out of the 173 I have the phone, plus some of them in my gmail has duplicates.
Had done a backup of my contacts using Secure Wave. Made as a CSV file via Secure Wave, which I could then import in my gmail. Fine, so now I had about 240 contacts in my gmail (Around 80 more than I had on my phone?)
That caused a bit of a problem since they apparently don't work in the same way.
So now I hava about 50 numbers that are now called "Mobile" when they on the phone was called "name Mobile" and a lot of unknown numbers labeled on the cell phone as they only had one name on the phone.
But i guess all this can be solved with a lot of editing on the computer. But then when I go into "view" menu under contacts it says I have 352 google contacts (should be about 173) and none phone contacts (Which is fine since they all got converted into google contacts) :S, plus when I'm inside contacts and look, I get the following error message every time my phone tries to sync with google:
"The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. And then I can just press "Force close" after which I will return to my Home screen.
Someone who knows what went wrong and how I solve it?

When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

I thought that I could sync the phone contacts to my Google account. How do I stop this? I have looked under Accounts & Sync > Google > - here it only gives 3 options "Sync calendar", "Sync contacts" and "Sync Google Mail". Under each one it says "Select to sync all" and if I press any of them it just updates & syncs. There is no option to remove the things (contacts) that I would not like synced!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.
