I switch off Data Sync to save battery life, but today google mail will not sync, just keeps coming up with an error message, the others will sync. I've switched phone off and on, tried all day but cant get it to work. My market and Internet connectivity are also affected.

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've come to see the light and made the move last weekend away from windows mobile to the Hero...now I'm ready to embrace the cloud.I use Outlook at home which was straight forward to keep in sync on my windows mobile device.I'm keen to keep using Outlook so my goal is to sync my calendar, contacts and tasks with my google apps account which would then be accessible to the Hero.After countless hours research and testing I settled on the following setup:
- Home PC sync's outlook calendar to google calendar via googles calendar sync which is then linked to my Hero;
- Home PC sync's outlook contacts to my Hero via HTC Sync.
I haven't devised a method for tasks yet and as for notes I prefer to keep them in outlook only.This setup has its limitations as HTC Sync sets the contacts to type "phone" which means they don't get uploaded to google. Furthermore, I've discovered that Google in their wisdom automatically creates contacts on your behalf based on people you email and this feature to my knowledge cannot be deactivated...so I'm questioning the merrits of putting my contacts into google if I'm going to be bring down contacts I never created.I'm keen to hear from others who use outlook and no doubt have more andriod/google experience to get a feel for how they sync up.
Just got my greasy hands on a HTC Hero and loving it. I have used HTC to transfer my Outlook contacts to the phone as a one-off but even though I have "Sync Contacts" enabled (Home->Settings->Data Sync->Google->Contacts) on the phone I don't see these contact details when I log into Gmail on my Win PC and click contacts? Incidentally my calendar syncs from Hero to Gmail/calendar perfectly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNoticed yesterday that I wasn't getting any new Gmail. After about 12 hours of no syncs I went in and played with settings, turning the sync on-and-off, and it finally synced again.
Well, now it has gone 13 hours without a sync according to the settings, and nothing I do seems to make it want to sync.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am running 2.1, and sync has worked since the upgrade for at least a few days. I have installed no new apps, I did delete one (Engadget reader, so nothing important)
There have been a lot of threads on this issue but I have 2 additional queries which I have not seen noted before. Firstly, why when I have set up my Gmail contacts on my computer into 8 groups do only 4 groups appear on my phone after synching? Secondly, is there anyway that the Google contacts can be rearranged so that the surname comes first - this can be done for phone contacts but does not appear possible for Google contacts?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI have recently rooted my phone as well as flashed the Cyanogen v6 ROM (FroYo). The only issue I am having is with syncing but not in the usual sense. In everything but the contacts app I can see my google contacts (chompSMSu is an example). I can successfully go into my Gmail and basically anything else Google related. It's only the actual contact list that isn't showing up, even though syncing elsewhere is possible.
I have checked the syncing options, did a factory reset, flashed to a different rom (and come back again) and it still isn't working.
I have just replaced my old phone with a new HTC Hero. Is there a way of importing all my contacts from CSV onto my HTC Hero without uploading them to googlemail? I was hoping there would be some software that i could install onto my PC, which would allow me to transfer the contact details across. I don't really want to manually type then in on the HTC Hero, although i don't mind cut pasting from my CSV file into some appropriate software - if such a thing exists.

What I can't figure out is if and how you can (a) control how often the Hero polls googlemail to check for new emails; and (b) how often googlemail polls the 'real' accounts to check for new emails. View 6 Replies View RelatedOk.. Ive been dorking with my EVO since June 7th and the HTC mail app would not automatically sync. Everytime I would have to go in and do a manual refresh. (Yes I decided I like the HTC mail app over the stock gmail app) Anyway, I deleted the account numerous times and tried everything. I called HTC tonight and the guy had me go into my phone settings "accounts & sync" and go into the google settings and uncheck "Sync gmail". It works like a charm now. No more manual refresh!!! Cannot believe that. But anyways, thought someone may have the same problem and now you know how to fix.
View 1 Replies View Relatedfor some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have adjusted the Outgoing server settings from the standard Incredible settings for Yahoo IMAP to ones that are posted for the Motorola Droid, which is the same as (i believe) K-9 and my sent messages do not make it to Yahoo mail.Neither SMTP server setting within HTC mail syncs my sent mail. I am only looking for 1-way (device to server) sync. I don't expect 2-way sync.Both K-9 Mail and ROID mail are able to sync sent messages.

The rotating syncing circle just keeps rotating forever. In Gmail, you can respond to emails as if it was coming from the business email (server). This was a simple sync I had with Blackberry emails. However, I'm finding difficulties setting up the same thing for my new HTC Incredible (Verizon provider).

View 9 Replies View RelatedRecent switcher to Android and owner of brand new Galaxy S4 here. I have two separate Gmail accounts, one for work and one for home. Each has its own Google Calendar. Both accounts are linked to my phone.
However, I want separate apps on my GS4 to handle each Google calendar. My phone came with S Planner and I have added Google Calendar App (GCA) from the Play store.
On S Planner I choose to display the home account calendar - no problems so far. I then switch to GCA and choose to display the work account calendar. Great. However, and this is my problem, these apps now seem to be 'linked', such that when I then go back into S Planner from GCA it is now displaying the work account calendar instead of the home calendar.
In other words, changes in one app seem to be mirrored in the other app. Is there any way around this, so that each app only displays one account calendar?

In Google + I have checked the box to allow Google Drive to sync with Google Drive. Most of the pictures show up in Google + without a problem. Some however, do not. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to this either. All of my photo folders. It doesn't seem to be related to one format or another. (Ex. One JPG file is there and another isn't)

Now, the app won't retrieve mail from my account. I am looking at my mail app, and dont see the new mail that I am seeing when viewing my in box on my computer. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... View 21 Replies View RelatedFirst night I got my evo, my first android phone, I was just going over the settings, seeing what control I had in the OS etc. I went into running applications and clicked on gmail and forced it to stop ("until you start it again" from what it said). Since then I have not been able to get push gmail to my evo. I've cleared the data and cache from manage applications to both gmail storage (or something) and gmail. How to get true push email again!
2nd question: I transferred my IPhone contacts into a .csv that I uploaded on my gmail contacts. I synced them from my gmail to my evo. But everytime I go into phone, it only shows me 3-4 contacts compared to the 300+ I synced from my gmail. How can I transfer them from my gmail account, onto my phone?
