I really dont know what to do. Should i get the Hero on a 24 month contract or wait for the Legend and see if i can get it on a 25 a month contract?Will the Hero still be a good phone 18 months - 24 months down the line or will it be heavily outdated.

So I've been looking at some videos on YouTube of the new HTC Desire and Legends. I've been paying attention mostly to the Legend, because it was more similiar specs to the Hero than the Desire does. I've noticed that the new Sense seems to run very smoothly on the Legend with its 600MHz processor. Now, we all know that the Hero can be quite laggy at times, and we all want some performance increase from the update. But how much better really is the 600MHz processor than the Hero's 529MHz? Are the videos of the Legend a good portrayal of how Sense will perform on our Hero's?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen i first got my hero i was told to install a taskiller.I found this annoying and bothersome and my phone had several issues such as force closing and awake time.Then i read somewhere online that Android "is a smart os" and you don't need a task killer.So I uninstalled.Everything got better.My phone will lag or slow down here and there, but i think that's more the insufficient hardware of the hero.Usually I just wait a second and it's fine.Or press the home key.But here's the thing.I bought my wife an Intercept, and two best buy mobile employees told me to install a task killer - that this is how you "manage" android.Honestly, if this were true.Which I don't believe it is.I would not like the Android OS.But then a Sprint employee told me to also install a task killer.Only HTC has confirmed my earlier understanding that they're not necessary.So I've heard mixed things.In my own limited experience, it's not necessary.But i still see articles and forum posts talking about using them.So what is it? Are task killers a nagging and persistent myth.Or is there any real net benefit from using them? Or is it that they were more useful to version 1.5?

It's now version 1.32.161.4 and the root guide at 24/May r4 - HTC Legend rooting guide - Now with 1.31.x - Android @ MoDaCo says 1.31 and below is there any way to downgrade the Legend to what it was before? I think it was 1.21 or 1.23 not sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have (UNFORTUNATELY) an Orange branded/locked HTC Hero running the oh-so-old Android 1.5 ROM....what would happen if I tried updating it with the Sprint 2.1 ROM (if this is possible).If it's not possible / will brick my phone, does anyone have any idea when Orange will release the update (not even had the fabled pre-update update which the rest of Europe seem to have had or about to).As an aside, I will NEVER buy an HTC phone again after this s*** is over with. View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday i found a HTC Hero lying around at the office, i asked by boss about it and he said that i could have it if i got i working.The problem is that when u turn it on, u will only see the "Hero logo" and get a small vibrator beep.This is anoying since the phone cant make a USB connection to my computer, so i cant use any official HTC flashing software, im therefore kinda limitet to placing files on the sdcard.

I will fix it soon, but I'll need a detailed guide on how to do it, I have seen some forums on how to do it but it doesn't seem that easy. I am pleased with the Legend, but at times things come up that confuse me somewhat. Recently a friend and I were taking photos and I thought it would be interesting to compare camera quality of her BB Curve 8900 with my HTC Legend. Below are the photos.

Is it just me or is something wrong here? (Forgive me naivety!) Also, could it be that I need to fine tune some settings or something? I hope somehow I can improve these shots.. the Legend's assumed superior camera was one of its main attractive characteristics for me!

I wanted to pair it with my new Legend, but for some reason when I press Scan for devices in the Bluetooth setup, my PC shows up, my neighbor's Nokia shows up, but the headset never appears. I thought that Bluetooth devices were pretty universal; shouldn't my Legend see this headset and pair with it without problem?

Its been perfectly fine since I installed it over a month ago, but recently my memory card corrupted and now I cannot download any apps off the market.I had an ext2 partition, so I reformatted my memory stick the exact same way it was before it corrupted. Even so, whenever I try to download items from the market they just get stuck on "Starting Download".I literally cannot download ANY apps

The password was not correct so it would not pull in my emails.I can't seem to find out how to go back into my pop3 settings since the HTC Hero email application will not let me view my previous settings to make changes.There must be a way, I am just not seeing it.Please help me with the correct procedure.It tells me to select my email account from the drop down screen in my created email account, so, I select the email address that it shows that I created.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hate the lock screen on the Hero, I know their is a way to turn it off, but i don't like getting a message and then the phone doing something in my pocket. Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.
