My daughters are forever taking my phone to play with and downloading games etc. This isfine but it does limit what apps I can put on my phone. Does anyone know of any apps I can get whereby it will give me the function to hide apps and have a password to access them?

I just bought a Note 2. The only reason I bought it because on iphone I wasn't able to hide my apps without jailbreaking. I was really looking forward to some on android market that would allow me to hide certain apps and password lock them along with password locking settings options. Yet I have not been able to find any. I have a few apps that I want to hide from my family and friends.
I would rather not root my phone as I am not that technically advanced!
Does anyone know a way, or a program for hiding or p/w protect a file in the Hero?

I came over from BlackBerry, where there is simply an option to "hide" my phone number on outgoing calls... but I can't seem to do this with my Eris. Someone once suggested that I prefix my contacts with *69... but that seems to prevent caller id from working properly, which just trades one issue for another.
If possible, I would prefer to be selective with who I do this with (it's okay for personal contacts to see my number... but it's not okay for business contacts to see my number).
Is there a clever way to let the user switch between hide and view password in an android EditText?A number of PC based apps let the user do this.

When I try to log in to the SE sync function on the phone, the phone is telling me that I have used an "invalid username/password". I have used exactly yhe same as I used tio log in to the site on the computer, and I have checked it a few times, but it doesn't want to accept it.

Does anybody know, is there a problem with the Market for Hero owners, UK residents, or some combination?
1: How do I access payable apps in marketplace, offcourse by paying, but so far I can only see the free ones.?
2: What is rooting, and what is the advantages from what the Hero is able of now?
So I've rooted my Hero, flashed a custom ROM, flashed a custom kernel, and then I downloaded some root-requiring apps (namely setCPU and Wifi Tether). However, whenever I open these apps, they do not ask me for Superuser Permissions!
For example, when I open setCPU, it says "No root access detected. Are applications allowed access to root? Operating in read-only mode." How do I fix this?
I've used XDA many times before, normally for specific questions on ARHD ROMs.
I work on a cruise ship and we're continually crossing time zones. Currently, to alter the time zone on my (rooted) HTC OneX, I need to pull down the notifications tray, select settings, scroll down and select date and time, then select time zone. I can't use the Auto function, as the network time on the ship (satellite) is only available over Wi-Fi, for which I have to pay an exorbitant rate.
I'm looking for an app that will allow me one-tap access to changing the time zone. 'Time Zone Widget Light' almost does the job, as a tap on the widget scrolls through pre-set time zones, but this only allows me to step forward, and sometimes I need to go backwards as well (sadly our ship itineraries refuse to follow pre-set time zones, although I'm working on it!)
Any app, or perhaps a toolkit that lets me drill down to sub-layers of the android settings menu and create a short-cut?
Since I updated I can't hide apps in the all apps view. How to do this?

Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

Sometimes they find their way back to me and sometimes they don't, It is unsettling to me that even if I have a security app installed, or a GPS tracker that ability to perform a google search can simply factory wipe my phone and make it their own.
So the question: Is it possible to include a password requirement to access the bootloader or recovery? I realize that if you forget your password there would likely be no way to save your phone in the event you need to, but I don't forget my passwords so this does not affect me.
I'm trying to enter my password to access my voicemail, but I can't. The keypad lags and then crashes everytime.

I even tried flashing a custom rom (Fresh) on the last attempt and it just seems like it is giving me the Sprint stock Rom. Shouldn't the custom Rom look different? Once rooted do I still need to use Unrevoked method to grant superuser access for Apps?

The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?
With my G1 it was possible to hide apps from the drawer, but I can't remember if that was something somone enable via a ROM or a separate app. Anyone with a Droid able to leave an app installed and fully functional, but hide it so it doesn't show up in the app drawer?

When I click this "A" app, It will show many other apps which installed or will be installed on the device. ut the problem is I only want to show these apps through the "A" app only.Is it possible?? View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking at a good way to hide apps from the list. I want the apps to be able to run (like Email) and do the sync, but not to display the icons in the list. I have seen that ICS comes with a "Disable" function for system apps, but it doesn't work for me because it also prevents the app from running.
I also want a way to launch the apps myself (through a hidden menu or command) at will.
I have tried things like Application Protection, which allows you to password protect the apps you want. However, since the icons are still there, it is still tempting for my kind to click and ask for the password.
When I navigate the menu, it's because I want to access apps that are not in my launcher.
Is there some app out there that makes the apps that you have in your launcher disappear from the menu?
