View 2 RepliesSorry if this has been asked, I did a search and came up empty.Am I missing something or is there no way to password protect the lock screen with Android (without some app)?I can live without it, but considering how much personal info we store on our phones these days, I'd at least like to know if I have the option.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi know you can type up the letters/numbers in phone mode and names will appear or scrolling up and down. is there a quicker way to do this like the iphone that automatically pops up ABCDEF...etc
i know a little bar on the right side shows up but it's not the easiest thing to use.
I am finding that listings in the "people" app are different than those when I try to find them with the phone dialer. I do not understand. Suggestions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried googling and searching for applications, but ironically, all I've found is people with the opposite problem - who are lucky enough to be asked for a password, but don't want it? Just got my HTC Desire, it is really amazing, but I HATE the stupid lock screen 'pattern' - I am amazed there doesn't seem to be any actually secure option considering the amount of important data the phone may hold (access to email in 2 clicks from home screen + no password = epic fail), especially as when I had a quick go to see what would happen, the pattern seems to allow unlimited attempts - just have to wait 30 seconds between every 5 .Turning my phone off whenever it has to be unattended is just ridiculous, even though I doubt I'll ever let there be a need to, I still want to make sure things are secure. Is there any way to replace the pattern with a PIN or password? Preferably free but I won't mind paying for an application if it's the only way.
View 8 Replies View RelatedFirst, sorry for my "english". And then, is possible to lock the access to a file with a password? For example, if you have some documents, pictures, etc., in the phone memory and don't want to be opened by someone who takes your phone. I'm interesting to know if API give me the possibility to implement these feature.
On my mobile with A2.1, can unlock the screen simply by swiping from left to right.
Is there an app to lock the screen by some password or whatever, to prevent thiefs and alike to easily access the phone?.
when i press the home key/close an app the password lock screen appears and it's annoying. Also the volume level doesn't affect my text message notification. long story:A week ago sprint told me to factory reset my phone to get rid of the error 67 problem, ever since then i've had this problem. So they told me to factory reset it again and the problem continued. then they sent a replacement and now i'm still getting the problem before i installed any apps. the SD card is the same though. So i'm confused and don't want to delete everything from the sd card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this topic but I couldnt find it. I just upgraded my htc hero to android 2.1. I never set a password for the lock screen. So it ended up putting a password on its own. I called sprint tech support and talked to them for about an hour and finally figured out that the password is my google account password. Thats all well and good but I am not a big fan of password protecting my phone because I really dont have any information of value on it, but I do like having the lock screen so I dont pocket diel. I found a few programs that will disable the lock screen that will get around this problem, kind of. Does anyone have a clue how to disable the password protection and still keep the lock screen. Its just really irritating because I dont usually lock my phone and every time I try to wake it I have to unlock it.
I am running 2.1 v2 on my Droid Eris and I set up my work email (exchange) through Activesync.
Now every time the lock screen appears I can't open it up without a password. I want this turned off. I have read elsewhere that you can install apps that overcome the lock. However, I am exploring other ways to work around this. Does anyone else have experience with this? I would like to not have to enter the password in every time the phone screen locks. I also don't necessarily want an app running in the background either.
How many of you guys actually use the pattern lock or password before you can use the phone. I have been debating whether or not its a waste of my time b/c even if I get my phone stolen I'm not getting it back. My friends that use my phone can't go through my personal stuff b/c I have a file locker. Even if I did have the pattern lock did anybody create a way to hack it and unlock it like they did with the iPhone?
View 12 Replies View RelatedToday I made the mistake of setting a pattern lock, and with my horrible memory this did not go well. I could not remember it and after several tries I decided to hit the "forgot password." It asked for my gmail account, and I do not remember creating one, after many tries, I gave up. Is my only option a hard reset? I have a samsung moment.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Gionee ELife e6 phone running Android 4.2.1. It seems to be missing the "Password" option to unlock the screen. Is this related to this particular device? Or is there a way to enable / bring back the "Password" option? Screen Lock setting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an app that will let me lock certain parts of Settings? Like if I want to allow our users to change Sound, Display, etc, but lock them out of Applications and Accounts&Sync?
I have found a few apps that will let us password protect things on the phone, but with them if I choose Settings, then they can't change anything and I want them to have a bit of flexibility, but I have to keep them out of Applications because then they could just kill the password app that locks them out of certain apps.
I'm looking for a way to lock or password protect the wallpaper settings. There are apps out there that lock apps, and lock the "settings" app, but long pressing the homescreen allows you to alter wallpapers directly and circumvents any such protection.
I know you can password protect the whole phone, but that's besides the point. I'm looking for a way to protect wallpaper settings specifically.
The phone I'm using right now has a lock on it, so I need to enter a password in able to have access to my cellphone. Does the samsung moment have an option to lock your phone and enter a password to get in? I already looked on the sprint website, but if anyone knows (or can find out with their Samsung moment), it would be really appreciated by me! I really would like to buy this phone!

I just bought a Note 2. The only reason I bought it because on iphone I wasn't able to hide my apps without jailbreaking. I was really looking forward to some on android market that would allow me to hide certain apps and password lock them along with password locking settings options. Yet I have not been able to find any. I have a few apps that I want to hide from my family and friends.
I would rather not root my phone as I am not that technically advanced!
My daughters are forever taking my phone to play with and downloading games etc. This isfine but it does limit what apps I can put on my phone. Does anyone know of any apps I can get whereby it will give me the function to hide apps and have a password to access them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPassword manager that can sync between multiple devices? The only one I found was Keeper but it's $10 for each install which would run me 20-30 bucks for 2-3 devices. My wife and I need to be able to access password/logins and share the data.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently added an exchange account which I then removed. Now my only lock screen security option is "password". I'd like to use pattern lock again.
I don't have any device administrators nor any exchange accounts anymore.
Is there any way to restore the settings to what they once were?
I need to recover screen lock password and it doesn't give me the "forgot your password?" option that allow me to recover it with google account
adb shell replies with error: device not found
but I still can go to ADB sideload
can we Use sideload to get rid of the screen lock ?
NOTE: its password not pattern or pin
I lose phones... habitually. Sometimes they find their way back to me and sometimes they don't, It is unsettling to me that even if I have a security app installed, or a GPS tracker that ability to perform a google search can simply factory wipe my phone and make it their own.
So the question: Is it possible to include a password requirement to access the bootloader or recovery? I realize that if you forget your password there would likely be no way to save your phone in the event you need to, but I don't forget my passwords so this does not affect me.
