My daughter gave up on the Hero because her cheek kept disconnecting on the touchpad
My Droid screen goes blank while I'm talking and can't be accidentally disconnected til it goes horizontal. Is the Hero different?

I just tried todo a rom update for my HTC Hero cos i couldnt update it. For some reason during the update my htc disconnected from my laptop failing the install. My hero now has a white screen with technical data and orange saying RUU USB. It doesnt respond to switching of or anything. nor does it reconnect to my pc.. what the hell do i do now?!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have done a search and found problems of people cannot mount and are not connected. However, my prob is different. This is my second PC to attempt with same problem. I dl HTC Sync and connect with USB cable that came with phone. I get the USB icon on the top of Hero but HTC Sync says disconnected. When I bring down the USB icon and press Mount I get a "Removable Disk (E" popup. The options at this point are: Copy pictures to folders, Use slide show of images, Print the Pictures, Copy Disc, Play, Play Video Files, Open Folder to View Files, Take No Action. This tells me that the PC is reading my phone, however, HTC still says disconnected. Do I select one of these options in order to be connected on Sync? My goal is to update the firmware.

1. How do I stop this message? "Bluetooth Headset Disconnected" I get it very often on my Hero. I have the phone paired with my 2009 Toyota, and leave the Bluetooth turned on on the phone all the time, so I don't have to remember to do that each time I enter or exit the car. I have also paired my phone with my wife's car, but she uses her phone with her car most of the time. Is there a way to stop this message? It has been hours today since I used my car, and I continue to see this message pop up on the phone. It does go away after a few seconds, but it is annoying.
2. When I go to Bluetooth settings, there are 3 devices shown, CAR MULTIMEDIA, CAR M_MEDIA, and HANDS FREE. I think our two cars are called CAR MULTIMEDIA and CAR M_MEDIA, and another one that I once paired with a Garmin GPS called "HANDS FREE". Is there any way to delete that 3rd device? And is this causing the above message?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have got one big problem with the touch input of my Hero. The screen is too sensitive. I can navigate on the screen while my finger is about 5 cm away from it. I can choose what I want, but the screen takes the right horizontal position of my finger, but not the vertical. Anything I want to take, the screen takes the one on the bottom of the screen. The same when I want to write a message or something like this. I choose the "W" or "E", but the screen takes the "X" or "C". If the display goes on Standby and I wake it again, everything is good for a few seconds, but than the same mistake comes again. I already tried to wipe and install a new MCR, but nothing helps. I think, but I am not sure, that I have that problem after I have installed the htc keyboard on android 2.1, as I tried it for a few hours.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI spent some time cleaning off stock HTC apps (Facebook.apk, HTC Facebook and Friend Stream included), but now all my contacts under People are no longer linked to any Facebook accounts. If I go to the Global tab, there is no option to refresh Facebook friends list. I've tried re-installing Facebook for Android, and I've also tried downloading the Facebook.apk and adding it back into /system/app. Really, all I want ot do is sync Facebook with my phone contacts to pull in pics and birthdays, I don't care about Friend Stream or HTC's stock FB app. Anyone know what to do?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a great calendar app and the developer warned in the notes to the last update that the next update would usher in ads. I don't want that. I don't have it set to auto update, so I know I can just not accept the update. But I know at some point in the future, my phone will say "found 14 updates" and I'll just hit "update all" and forget to check whether this app I like is one of the 14. Then I'll be stuck with ads. I'd love to be able to somehow disable it from updating period, or from even looking for updates. Is there a way to do this?

I just got a Nexus 4 and activated it with a Straighttalk (at&t) SIMS card. I have been using Straighttalk for a while now and simply moved my cell # to this phone. I love the Nexus 4 so far although while I did something pretty silly.... I was messing around with the voicemail settings I accidentally deleted the Voicemail Number that was on the phone.
Now whenever I try to call my phone a voice message comes up which says "Sorry the person you have called does not have voice box set up ect...." Mind you that I did have a voicemail box set-up before I deleted this voicemail number on the phone. I have tried to replace the "Voicemail #" with my own cell phone number but that does not work. Also I have tried just holding down the number 1 but that same message comes up. When I call *86 it says "message cannot be completed as dialed".....
I live in nyc where according to sprints coverage map I'm located in a dark blue area where 4g is supposed to be working even indoors. However, when I try to connect to 4g indoors my phone always tells me "4g network disconnected". The only time I get 4g is if I'm outdoors and even then it sometimes disconnects after a few minutes. So is this what we have been waiting for? For a 4g speed that only works if you're outside? I'm wondering if this is only in NYC or in all other places that officially have 4g? I can't believe that I'm paying 10 dollars extra for a service which I won't be able to use 90% of the time!

I'm a gamer, and I love my new evo for everything else so far.. I'm confident I will love it for gaming once the 30fps cap is lifted (please please please please plEASE!) and I fix this one problem. Whenever I'm playing a game with a "virtual controller", i.e. phone sideways with d pad on left and buttons on right side of screen, I inevitably find myself tripping the "home" key within minutes of starting any game that requires a controller. This of course kicks me to my home page, and with most games any progress is lost. I can't imagine that no one else is having this problem, as it even happens with texting from time to time, but I can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem.
This is reallllly irritating as in any game with oft-pressed controls on the lower right side of the screen, i'm pretty much guaranteed to kick myself out to my home screen within 3 minutes of starting a game. What's the best way to address this? Is there a way to temporarily disable the home button? change controls to a hold?

So now the screen is just black, I can't access anything and it keeps coming up with "systemUI has stopped responding".
I tried downloading Huawei's official firmware from their website, and flashed the device, but whilst installing it said "update error" and wouldn't install it.
So when updating my phone, I was all like 'I know how this show goes' and like an IDIOT I put my Samsung S2 i9100 kernel file on the bootloader spot and it boots to a black screen. I can still put it in download mode, and tried to install it the correct way but that doesn't matter.
