Since a few days my browser doesn't work with Wifi.
When wifi is on all the other apps and programs using internet work, so gmail works youtube app works and so on.
But not the standard htc browser it just hangs and after a minute or so it says cannot connect. I also tried the steel browser but same problem.
When i use 3g everything works.

For some reason the browser on my G2 Touch has stopped working with wifi. Its works fine over the air just not when wifi is connected. Everything else works fine with wifi, email, ebuddy etc just not the browser.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am new in Hero. Since some day, after I turn off the mobile network, and switch on the WiFi, I could use mail box, ebuddy, everything, except Browser. But I switch on the mobile network + WiFi at the same time, its work fine for everything included Browser. But after restart my HERO, I can switch on the WiFi without switch on the mobile network and no problem at all, but after using mobile network, problem is coming to me again.

Before rooting, I had a working / reliable wifi connection. Now, it's gone.
Could rooting the phone have caused this problem? I followed the instructions to the letter (and am rooted successfully).
Whenever I turn on wifi, it fails to locate ANY networks ("unable to scan networks") and turns itself off.

So can anyone help me with this problem with have to call Sprint?

There were 3 web sites listed, but the one that struck me was the one about Android Central.
I don't have a clue how I got the window to open, or even why it did, but the entry for AC said WiFi access to this site was blocked.
Sure enough, I cannot access AC through Forum Runner, but I can get here with Tapatalk 2.I also cannot access it with a browser. Either Chrome or the stock one.
My Hero takes a long time to connect to my home wifi. I usually go in to the settings and hit "Scan" repeatedly before it connects. Sometimes it fails connect, and I have to go into Settings to try again. Is there a way/app to scan automatically or re-attempt to connect again? Maybe there's something I'm not thinking of?

I also have my itouch with me and after it connects with hotel server, a sign-on screen comes up and I enter the server password.
Can't get the Captivate to supply a sign-on screen. Is there some other way to enter the server password that was supplied to me?

View 4 Replies View RelatedGot a brand new phone yesterday. Upgraded it to Android 2.1 before using it. In general, phone is functioning properly, however none of the applications (i.e. YouTube, Gmail, Maps) will work over the 3G connection, but the Web Browser does function ok. The apps will work over WiFi (which isn't much use if you're trying to use maps or gmail on the go). I have tried restarting phone (battery out restart). It is not a signal strength issue, I am getting HSPA with full bars and it still times out with "no connection detected" (or variations thereof, depending on the actual application). I can work around this using the web browser based clients for these apps, but as they aren't streamlined they are a PITA to use.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWife and I each have new Sprint HTC Hero. We also have a home wifi network using an older (pre-802.11n) Apple Airport Extreme base station as WDS main and an old Apple Airport Express as a WDS remote. When we're home we tend to turn on our phone's wifi.
As long as only one phone has wifi turned on, everything is fine. But within minutes of turning on wifi on the second phone as well, our wifi router starts to lose it. Apparent massive interference. After a few more minutes the router becomes catatonic, so much so that Airport Utility cannot even see the router at all.
A power cycle of the router fixes things for at most a few minutes, then it rapidly goes downhill again. Turning off the wifi on one phone (doesn't seem to matter which one) and power-cycling the router brings back perfect sanity until the next time wifi on both phones is turned on.
I have neither the time nor the energy to go through the inevitable denials and mutual finger-pointing with Apple and Sprint, but I thought I would make note of it here for the benefit of the community.
Does the web browser on the Hero have the little zoom in/out buttons like other Android phones? Is there anything like this? The reason I ask is that multitouch, while very cool, doesn't look very practical when you're using the phone with one hand as that only really leaves the thumb free for key pressed and screen touches.

I am wondering if all heroes have the lag inside the browser while typing such as typing in this forum or on yahoo mail etc etc. I use the stock browser and i dont want dolphin or steel. if not all heroes have this lag inside the browser than I shall exchange mine and try a new unit as I am well inside my thirty days, I am 200 percent happy with everything else on the phone. oh and btw I have sound/hepatic/predictive all turned off while experiencing the typing lag in the browser.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the Hero today in the UK and am on the Orange network. On the Home screen i have 4 icons and the 3rd one is browser. If I press it I instantly get a white page (Instantly as in no loading time or attempt to connect to the internet) with black writing. It has loads of symbols and http stuff at the start. Then continues with the message "The page you are trying to access is only available via your orange phone when connected via the orange gprs network.
The part at the start also mentions orange world. If I go into More-Settings-Set Homepage I try and change this to google it shows as google is the Homepage. But again if I launch the browser again I get the white page with black writing. The funny thing is I can connect to the internet no problem by typing in a URL manually. And I am using the orange network for that. I called tech supp for orange and the guy was pretty useless and no joy. Why no homepage, but can browse through URLS's?
Neither the default browser, nor Dolphin works when I use wi-fi. It just says "processing" or something like that, but they can never finish loading the page in question. Sometimes they even claim that I don't have a data connection, even though I have my wi-fi turned on (and the wi-fi works flawlessly, I can use the Market and other apps without problems). Opera Mini works fine. However, when I browse through my 3G connection, they all work perfectly.

2) I have the default screen on the home page. The two "white pages" show the time incorrectly; one hour ahead of actual time.
How do I set the default browser? I use apps like Newsroom and when they load a browser they go to the stock browser and I'd like to fix that.Can I do this system wide or do I need to find a setting in each app that opens web pages and configure them individually?

It just happens at random times, and once that happens I can't load any pages until I reset my phone.
It's not the data or the internet, because it keeps chugging along my push e-mail, and the facebook app wills till work and whatnot.
I initially thought it was the browser, and downloaded the dolphin browser, but it gets the same thing too.
Does anyone else get this? I'm assuming it's the phone issue and not the carrier, because I'm still getting data (in other apps) but I find it weird that both browsers does this.
