On my Incredible I've noticed that my browser will crash when I am hooked up to wifi and I go to the Google Homepage. I was able to change my homepage to Yahoo but I am concerned this might do it with other sites. Anyone else have this problem?

1. Unless I forgot how a freshly rebooted phone feels, it feels no different
2. I did have a few random reboot type actions but the counter never reset. Not sure what it was about
3. Browser loves to crash or just lock up which I then had to force close and restart it. I blame this on an online game I play that is not optimized very well as I have to restart chrome on my work computer after a time as it eats all the memory.
Other then that, phone works perfectly
I have found that my browser crashes when adding bookmarks with Tazz v8. I have read that this may be because of problems with the gps. Anyone know a fix for this?

An example gizmodo.com, it only happens with the full version of the site not the mobile version. It appears to be javascript related, because when I disable javascript the page will load without crashing. This happens both in the standard browser and in DolphinHD. Also, sometimes before crashing DolphinHD will show a page saying: "The Web page at file:///android_asset/webkit could not be loaded as: The requested file was not found. webkit/"

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've seen a LOT of apps crashing since I got this phone. In the 2 years I had my blackberry, I never saw a program crash. It seems to be common place with android. A few of my apps crash at random, but lately, my gmail app is crashing consistently, even when I'm not using it. This is unacceptable; it's a google phone for crying out loud! It just crashed about 15 times in a row just 5 minutes ago no joke. Crash...force close...crash...force close.Then it says "Err1" on top of the gmail app icon.

This morning, my phone turned on, and all of my contacts (as well as most of my applications) are gone. I tried to shut down normally, but the "shutting down" window just looped infinitely. I've been working slowly to figure out what's causing them but it's a very long process to change one thing at a time and wait for stability. So here's what I've changed and here's what I haven't. Can someone else having this same problem let me know if any of these match? If something is listed as changed, that means I either replaced or deleted it and I still have the issue.

After turning on my Incredible and swapping the stock battery with my extended battery, I was shown the start-up tutorial. After that, I was bombarded with about 5 FC messages.
My scene layout was still intact, but many of my icons were replaced with the little green Android guy, and tapping them resulted in the message "This app is no longer installed on your phone" and installed widgets said "error loading widget."
Any other market app I tried to run FCed immediately or after a few seconds running. Most pre-installed apps ran as if it were the first time running. Market only showed Gmail in my downloads. App list showed all the downloaded apps on phone, but none on SD.
Been running Android 2.2 with no issues up until now.
Searched various different things on Google and here, but found nothing.
Does anyone know how to set the Opera Mini Browser as a default web browser instead of the Stock android?

When wifi is on all the other apps and programs using internet work, so gmail works youtube app works and so on.
But not the standard htc browser it just hangs and after a minute or so it says cannot connect. I also tried the steel browser but same problem.
When i use 3g everything works.
I am new in Hero. Since some day, after I turn off the mobile network, and switch on the WiFi, I could use mail box, ebuddy, everything, except Browser. But I switch on the mobile network + WiFi at the same time, its work fine for everything included Browser. But after restart my HERO, I can switch on the WiFi without switch on the mobile network and no problem at all, but after using mobile network, problem is coming to me again.

There were 3 web sites listed, but the one that struck me was the one about Android Central.
I don't have a clue how I got the window to open, or even why it did, but the entry for AC said WiFi access to this site was blocked.
Sure enough, I cannot access AC through Forum Runner, but I can get here with Tapatalk 2.I also cannot access it with a browser. Either Chrome or the stock one.
I have a good WiFi connection, but my browsing seems like it is going over the cellular connection. How can I force it to go via my WiFi, or can I? It just seems very slow, no different from being in the car.

I also have my itouch with me and after it connects with hotel server, a sign-on screen comes up and I enter the server password.
Can't get the Captivate to supply a sign-on screen. Is there some other way to enter the server password that was supplied to me?
If I have wi-fi enabled and unlimited data plan... and I bring up the browser... am I using the browser over the data plan or the wi-fi? How do I know?

I have read that Verizon put some sort of restrictions on it, but I'm not savvy enough to understand it all. My daughter is in the Coast Guard and we both have DInc's. She goes to places like Star Bucks in other countries that offers WiFi and we would LOVE to be able to text each other with our phones. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

View 4 Replies View RelatedGot a brand new phone yesterday. Upgraded it to Android 2.1 before using it. In general, phone is functioning properly, however none of the applications (i.e. YouTube, Gmail, Maps) will work over the 3G connection, but the Web Browser does function ok. The apps will work over WiFi (which isn't much use if you're trying to use maps or gmail on the go). I have tried restarting phone (battery out restart). It is not a signal strength issue, I am getting HSPA with full bars and it still times out with "no connection detected" (or variations thereof, depending on the actual application). I can work around this using the web browser based clients for these apps, but as they aren't streamlined they are a PITA to use.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.
I've had this problem since I bought my Droid Inc over a month ago but I haven't posted about it until now.Whenever I type a new URL into the stock browser, if I press any letter, a list of sites pop up that aren't my favorites. Some of these sites are Asian, and I know that others are known spyware sites.What the hell is this stuff? I've never been to any of these sites on my phone, and these aren't my favorites.I noticed this happening the day I bought my Droid Inc and before I installed any third-party apps. Could Google be behind this? Doubleclick is one of the sites that pops up on this thing too.
View 44 Replies View RelatedI'm playing with a Droid Incredible my wife got from her company because I'm thinking of buying one.I do photography and I have a website.The images aren't huge maybe 600 x 800 pixels but that's bigger than the screen resolution of the Incredible so I can't view them on the built-in browser without panning around.A normal PC browser is smart enough to shrink the image to fit the browser window.Also, my wife's iPhone handles this with no problem. How do I get the browser on the Droid Incredible to do that?

Even my wifi signal will disappear leaving me with no internet and I will need to disable and re-enable wifi to reconnect.
