HTC Hero :: Browser Not Working Correctly
Nov 15, 20091) I cannot get some pages to close after viewing them on the browser. After clicking the X in the top right corner of the page the phone shows the message "stopping" but the page remains on the screen. Only way I can get the page off the screen is to reboot the phone.
2) I have the default screen on the home page. The two "white pages" show the time incorrectly; one hour ahead of actual time.

May 26, 2010The default Browser application on my HTC Hero v1.5 just keeps coming up with the standard "Web page not available" page when I try to connect to any website. This happens when I use GSM, 3G, HSDPA or Wifi to connect.
I generally use Opera Mini to access the web and this works perfectly, it was only when I used the Dolphin Browser (to access a site that doesn't display properly in Opera) that I realised it wasn't connecting and coming up with this message, so I tried the default Browser and realised this had the same issue. I then tried Skyfire and this also did the same!
All other applications are fine and can connect to the internet perfectly well. As I said above the Opera Mini browser works perfectly but this may be to do with it proxying the data so therefore works slightly differently to all the other browsers.
So it seems like something is amiss with my settings / files that the default Browser, Dolphin and Skyfire use.
HTC Hero :: Managed To Get 3G Data Working For Weather Email However Browser Does Not Work
Dec 2, 2009I just bought a Telus HTC Hero, which the seller had unlocked. I intend to use this phone with another carrier, Bell. After spending a few hours at Bell customer service, they finally managed to get the 3G data working (for weather, email etc.). However, the browser does not work, neither does the Market.
What seems to be causing the problem is that this phone is MASSIVELY tweaked (appears massive to me probably because I'm not that big on tweaking and don't know about the Android OS in general) by the previous owner who only had it for a few days. The Bell customer service person told me that they switched over a couple of other HTC devices from Telus that were NOT tweaked and the data works perfectly.
All I want is for the phone to be in original factory settings, with original ROMs, firmwares, software, etc. etc. Just looking at the whole bunch of different files that this guy had on the 2GB "gold" memory card made my head spin. He attempted to explain to me with all the "updates" and fancy "roms" and "roots" and crap that I didn't understand nor do I want to spend the time to learn.
I understand that a lot of people buy android phones because they love tweaking but I am not really into all that... I just wanted the phone for the form factor and the functionality and I don't want to worry about optimizing and whatnot. So my question is: is there any way to get the phone back to the most original possible software condition? I just want it "clean." Can I go ahead and wipe everything that is on the 2 GB card? What do I do? I performed a hard reset and it took me to some weird startup screen and I chose the first option which is like reboot now (there were also a bunch of other options including apply update.zip or something)... it still gave me the same MoDaCo build.
I can provide any information but I would really appreciate any help in restoring my seemingly very tweaked phone to original, factory settings, so it could be like any other phone being sold by Telus other than the fact that it is unlocked.
HTC Desire :: Flash In Browser Not Working
Jun 28, 2010My Desire somehow isn't playing flash videos anymore, where it used to. Anybody know how to rectify this? If Flash 10.1 is a go, then its even better, however, I'll be happy with FlashLite working for now, rather than having it not work at all.

Starting from few days ago, I find that my browser (Both the build in "Browser" and "Dolphin HD") is not working.
When I open these Apps, it shows the App screen. Then I saw it trying to load the website, after a while (1 - 2 seconds), the Apps just terminated and back to the phone's main screen.
If I turn off WIFI and 3G (means makes no connection to outside), both browser Apps can show a "website not available" page without terminate themselves automatically. But then if I keep the browser screen and activate the WIFI/3G again, and try to type a URL and go, the browser terminate again......
HTC Incredible :: Web Browser Not Working After 2.2 Update
Aug 31, 2010I have a droid incredible and got the OTA update last night. After the update I could not use my web browser. It will load the page almost to the end and then just go back to my home screen. Also the flash does not appear to be working anymore either I only see green arrows now. I Manually installed flash 10.1 a few weeks before the OTA update.

Aug 11, 2010My phone just got the 2.2 OTA update early this morning and since I've updated, my browser doesn't fully work anymore.
It opens fine, but whenever I try to tap an address in, it automatically closes. Sometimes a quick message flashes up, but I can't really even see it because it just comes and goes so fast.
Dolphin Browser has the same problem, so it's just not the stock browser that is having this problem.

I use it primarily for a forum such as this and it freezes up all the time. I've tried clearing the cache and cookies and nothing seems to help. So, all websites are working good on default browser, except one - pinnaclesports.com. When I try to enter there, it says error:

And I have only 1 option to choose - Force close.
The same happens on Dolphin. Opera is working good with pinnaclesports website, but to be honest I don't like Opera, I definetely prefer default browser.
I've been trying almost everything. I did wipe and even changed interface from standard to Sense UI (which IMO is worse than normal interface) and I still get the same error.

Oct 10, 2010I was using my captivate last night and the 3g and browser suddenly turned off. I restarted the phone several times and let is sit all last night and all of today. I recently tried again but its still not up. I have no 3g or 2g (edge) I can still receive texts and call but nothing to do with the browser. Also the devices are getting IP via DHCP. The problem is that i am able to access web site via browser but when i try from the application, its showing i don't have internet connection. There is no proxy configured in this network. There is an IP filtering in the router which filters the IPs starting with a particular series. But the web site and the application which i am trying to use are supposed to use this IP series.

Oct 10, 2010I've recently bought the Xperia X10 mini handset and since it was unable to download the settings from my service provider, I had to manually do the APN setup.
However, I was successful getting the internet from my handset browser but not from the applications like Email, Gmail, GTalk, Sony Ericsson Sync, and Market. I've got the notification icon for EDGE data transmission and is being indicated when accessed from the browser but not from the applications.
Do I need to do any other setting in order to access the internet from the applications? Can someone please help me setting up?
