HTC Eris :: KaosFroyo Overclocked - Use Bluetooth Dialing
Aug 15, 2010
Is KaosFroyo overclocked "out of the box" so to speak, or do you need SetCPU to OC? My dad (yes he has an Eris too) flashed it last night and noticed it was running a little slower or at least not as fast as he thought it would be.
Also, how do you use bluetooth dialing, do you just do it the same way you would normally but instead talking into the bluetooth device?

I have not had any problems with connection but cannot get the dadblame phone to light up while on a call. I'm a realtor and bought a Jawbone Icon (which has been great) so that I can see my calendar while talking to someone, but if I'm talking to someone using the Bluetooth, once the screen goes off, it ain't coming back. I can turn the earpiece off and then wave my hand in front of the proximity sensor and then it will light up, but for obvious reasons, that don't make me happy.

I'm a newb when it comes to Bluetooth; tonight I borrowed a Moto HS850 and tried it with two ROMs on my Eris:
- HTC/VZW stock 2.1 pre- July OTA (= leak-V3)
- Tazz Froyo CM6 2.0
Results:
No problems pairing or connecting, answering, disconnecting, or last-number redialing.
I could NOT initiate voice dialing at all on the stock 2.1 ROM, and on the CM6 Froyo ROM, the headset could initiate the voice dialer, but it appears that no voice input was being transferred to the voice dialer.
So, I guess I have two questions:
- are all the Froyo CM6 ROMs essentially the same when it comes to Bluetooth capabilities and bugs?
- ignoring cases of gross interoperability problems (can't pair/can't connect), are the results obtained highly sensitive to the brand and model of the paired BT device?

I overclocked my eris from a 2.0 to a 2.2 and ever since then ive been having some really bad lag on my phone... such as texting is really really slow, opening programs, and loading the camera pictures. Can anyone tell me if i were to master reset my phone if my phone would not be overclocked anymore and just be to its original 2.0?

There have been a few queries here and there about kernels which are noted as being overclocked by the developers of the ROMs they're used in.
Zach, the developer of the xtrROM series, tells me this about those kernels (when asked for clarification about them):
* A kernel that is capabile of being overclock does not mean the ROM is OC by default and you will have to review the devs OP to determine what they have done.
* Most DO NOT OC by default because they are using another devs kernels (there are only a few devs that know kernel code, I use Zanfurs) and
* IF it IS OC by default then you do not "need" SetCPU or other such app unless you want to use the custom profiles as you mentioned.

I recently purchased a Blueant S4 bluetooth speakerphone, Im trying to use the voice dailing feature with the new 2.2 froyo release and it sucks.....really. Even not using the blueant speakerphone and just using the phone trying to speak commands directly at it in a quiet room, it dosent even work. Example I tried to call my mother today when prompted I said "Call Mom" the phone decoded that as "Call Aubrey" lol which is a imporvement from the "nothing found" errors ive been getting....is there another app to replace the stock voice dialing application that works better?

It's only been about three hours, but I've been running my Senseable 3.1 at 806/768 with no ill effects that I can see; nothing but speed and quickness all around the device's apps and menus.
Battery levels don't look any different from when it was running at the default 528.
Still testing, of course, but I have to admit I am startled at this because my first few tweaks on other ROMs would freeze the device when I attempted to go over the mid 700s.
I am of course wary, and will be watching, almost expecting something bad to happen down the line; we'll see.
What is the highest successful setting you have used or are using now?

I just got the froyo 2.2 upgrade and can't wait to use all the new features! I am trying to figure out how to use the latest addition of voice command dialing via bluetooth. I have a parrot hooked into my stereo and need some direction on how to set it up.

Have the Android 2.2 update, but voice dialing using my bluetooth headset is not working. Following what is not working:
1. Turned on Bluetooth
2. Turned on my Bluetooth headset - got the headset connected message.
3. Pushed the button on my bluetooth headset and said: "Call _______ at home."
Nothing happens. How do I fix?I used the update.zip file linked at Android Central to manually update to Android 2.2.

as many if not all are aware who use the Motorola Droid that the bluetooth and voice dialing is a joke. Phones from 6 years ago and every one since function better than the Motorola Droid does in this aspect. With over 800,000 units said to be sold(Moto Droid)... the number of stars for this issue are very low.... In fact the overall participation on google code is low i think.I'm asking everyone to go on Google Code, log in with your gmail account, or do whatever you have to do to be able to 'Star' the issue. Posting replies on their site is not necessary without relevant new info to the issue, and only dilutes the issue. Staring alone is enough and very helpfull

I just got a new bluetooth headset, and I set it up with my Hero only to find *gasp* no voice dialing? The whole point of having the headset is to not have to look at the phone while driving! The owner's manual of the Hero says it supports hands free profiles, as does my headset(obviously) but there's no voice dial. Unbelievable!

I received the OTA 4.4.2 update earlier this week, and now the Bluetooth voice dialer has gone full retarded. If say "call Susan mobile", it responds, "did you say call Susan work mobile". what combination of words I use it never give me the correct option. If I answer yes at any of the suggested options, it invariably responds "no entry, try again", because, of course, there is not "work mobile" entry. I never had this problem prior to the update. The only work-around that works is storing the number is a speed dial number and using "speed dial 2" as a voice command, and it will successfully dial that speed dial number. But, of course, I can't put everybody in my contacts list into a speed dial number, and even if I could, I wouldn't e able to remember everyone's speed dial number.

I love LauncherPro and Froyo, but every time I use a ROM for a few days, LP starts to bug out on me. The problem occurs when I wake up the phone or when I return to the home screen after using a program for awhile.
I have tweaked my settings quite a bit, and I can't seem to avoid this kind of behavior. My overclock settings are 785-245 and I have tried messing with the LP settings, but I can't find that golden combination.
Lots of people say LP is the best option for Froyo, and I certainly like it best... when it's working. So could someone who is having no problems please share the secret to your success?

I love everything about this rom except for the fact that for whatever reason I can't use the gps because it doesn't lock on. I know it has to be something with the rom because when I restored back to stock to check there were no issues. Is this a known problem with this particular rom or 2.2?
