Has or will anyone describe the process in detail for the mac users out there. I'm on a standard Eris and would like to move to the unofficial ROOTED 2.1 ROM but I don't own a PC and am hesitant about doing it without some guidance.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI followed Caddyman's instructions on what to do if the Native SMS app was keeping my phone awake all the time. After rebooting and letting it sleep for 10 minutes, my phone is still at 100%. I just got it last night so I just have Weather Bug, Handcent SMS, Facebook, Gmail, and Peep installed. I've never had a smart phone so it's possible on of the other settings is keeping it awake, but I have no clue which it would be.

My facebook account is for networking and promotion, so a lot of people I have in my friends list I don't even know. Because of this I have had to remove my account from "facebook for htc sense". Unfortunately I liked the way it had lots of info for each individual contact, photo, birthday, email addy etc. Is their anyway of having this much info for each individual entry when adding them in "people"?

Any thoughts about what that means?The update.zip is on my sd card and the recovery image is in my tools directory.

So when I start my droid eris up this is what I am getting. The phone gets no signal. When I start up the phone is asks me if I want to use "htc sense" or "home". I did download "91pandahome" and I guess also "home". I can't go to settings and turn on WiFi or mobile 3g. iIhave no cell signal.
So, I decided to give Tridents ROM a try about 10-minutes ago.
I used ROM Manager, backed-up my old ROM, then downloaded Velocity 0.2.
Now, my phone will do nothing, it turns on and shows the red Droid eye, then when it's time to go to the home screen I get pop-up after pop-up saying that "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have no way of getting on my phone at all, what can I do?
I have my Cliq rooted with pure handler 1.0 ROM or flashed and I like it. So my sister is considering root on her Cliq but she's scared about breaking her phone. So my question is, if I root her phone do I HAVE to flash a custom ROM? Cuz she likes motoblur and if I don't do I just do the regular rooting process and just not flash a ROM?

From what I Have read, it is supposed to be one of the fastest ROMs out there. Too be honest, I have almost noticed it to be slower then .7.5. So I have decided to completely erase everything and start completely from scratch. I was going to go back to stock 2.01 and then do a factory restore. Then I was going to reformat my sd card. I've already tried the method described in the "Guide from stock 1.5 to the latest root 2.1 thread" and that method failed. Here is the situation, I'm having an issue with my phone that is basically making it unusable, see this thread: Phone stuck in headset mode. This is my 2nd eris after having it replaced once already, and I'm going to try and use this problem as an excuse to complain my way to an upgrade. But before I go into Verizon I need to unroot my phone. I currently have a rooted v of 2.1, I'm not sure what is is called but I think it's basically a rooted version of the official OTA. I am not on Leaked.
Now after the OTA I don't know if 100% stock means 1.5 or 2.1 but basically I need it so Verizon can't see that I've voided my warranty. I am looking for an idiots guide to going back to 100% stock. I've found a few threads on this but I am not tech savy enough to understand the technically discussion to know if these methods will even work for me. I'm looking for a easy to follow guide back to stock that is written so that even an 8 year old can follow it. Alright I sifted though all the root/upgrade threads only to find myself confused so I apologize for the possibly common question but I seek clarification.
Some months back when I got my HTC Eris I installed a 2.1 leak and rooted it. Not 100% sure but I believe it was Version 2. I used these instructions:
Now that the official 2.1 is out I want to switch to it and root it again. I started looking at the pinned threads only to realize that depending on how and what one installed on ones phone it may or may not be possible and instruction vary.
Can someone point me to the set of instructions that apply to my case or confirm that I am out of luck. If you need some firmware build code etc from my phone to make an accurate recommendation I would be happy to provide the information.
I am currently on 2.1v2 and was wondering could I root from it or rooting is only a 1.5 deal?
View 6 Replies View RelatedTwice now, I've successfully used AR recovery routine to install the 2.1v3 (rooted) on my Eris, (previously running the original "v1" root).Install was a breeze--tho' I had to "push" the recovery .img and the flash routine by dragging them onto the SD/into nested "system" and "bin" folders manually while mounted to my Mac, as the first command prompt instructions generated error messages.the remainder of the command prompt instructions then executed successfully on my girlfriend's Windows machine, where I could install the SDK.I restored my Apps got everything set up, widget-ed, etc.All well until I turned my phone off when going to the theatre on powering back on: got to lock screen, but when I unlocked I had a black screen with an "unexpectedly stopped. Force close and try again" message for com.htc.launcher.When I click the Force Close button, I immediately get another dialogue saying com.htc.mms has stopped and then the first, com.htc.launcher dialogue pops up over and over, with the background behind never therefore progressing beyond the black screen with silver/gray "htc" logo.

Is OTA = over the air?

I have a stock 2.1 Eris. As a phone, it is a flaming turd. Phone-dial lag can be so bad the phone can be making a call minutes after I've hit the button to call. Once a week it is so screwed up that the phone thinks it is in a conference call with the same number at the same time. Because after a minute or two of no call being initiated, silly me, I dial again. Eventually both calls take place. I wind up talking to my wife while I'm also leaving some bogus voice mail at her same number. As it stands, this phone is literally an embarrassment. All of these problems started immediately after the 2.1 OTA update. Yes, I've done a factory reset. I've cleared my call log. Blah blah blah. I just want a phone that can dial without getting all "Special Olympics" on me. Simple question: Will rooting fix this kind of problem?
