HTC Desire :: Add More Detail To Phone Book Entries?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add more detail to your phone book entries if your inputting them manually? My facebook account is for networking and promotion, so a lot of people I have in my friends list I don't even know. Because of this I have had to remove my account from "facebook for htc sense". Unfortunately I liked the way it had lots of info for each individual contact, photo, birthday, email addy etc. Is their anyway of having this much info for each individual entry when adding them in "people"?

Having run sync I now have duplicated entries. I can get round it but I don't know why this happens?

I have a nokia E71 and will be getting my Desire 8182 soon. i am on the ATT network in north america my questions are 1. what is the easiest way to transfer all the google calender entries to the new HTC Desire 2. Contacts and phone numbers trasnfer to desire?

Im trying to add a new contact to my phone book but for some reason it wont let me add the name. I select people then select groups option then select friends the press menu to add a new group member, have I done it wrong or have i got it setup wrong.

I can't find out how to add photos to the contacts I have on my phone.I read in another post that I should go to Google mail and do it from there, but my contacts aren't synced with anything. I just want to access them on my phone, and see a photo when they call. I added everyone's details myself, but I can't believe there's no Add photo option (or non that I can find anyway!)

My Issue: HTC Desire is stuck on boot-up screen with Green HTC logo forever.
How it happened: I tried flashing a script using ROM Manager that was supposed to correct some local language settings, over my current rom.
Phone state before action: Worked beautifully using Modaco R8 RC1 ROM. Phone is of course rooted.
Why I can't solve it myself: Well, this is my first serious issue (well, I hope it's not serious, actually!) with phone, which i've had for about a week , so I'm relatively a n00b.
-- I can access Clockworkmod recovery. However, under NANDROID RESTORE there are no files. I have no idea why, because I DID a full nandroid backup before that last install. I have a copy of all the IMG files of the last working setup on my windows machine hard drive, and my assumption now is that maybe I accidentally moved the files to the hard drive after i did that backup, instead of copying them.
Now -
1) Can I somehow restore the phone to a working state without the nandroid backup, using some other function of the CW Mod recovery?
2) Can I somehow connect the phone via USB to the computer and get it to read the Micro SD card so I could maybe move the IMG files I have back to SD Card (using some mounting options)?
3) Anything else I could try?
If nothing else, please just calm me down if you can and let me know the phone is fixable and not bricked because I can access recovery?! That would at least help me go through the night...
last note: Before I flashed the zip, ROM Manager indicated my CW Mod version is 2.0.5.7. Within the recovery itself, it says the version is only 2.0.5.1. Don't know why that is , and if it is important.

Facebook for HTC Sense and the Phone Book
Has anybody found a way to remove Facebook contacts that HTC Sense Facebook adds to the overall phone book once you sign into this app? (The list that appears when you press Phone and not the People app.)
It's quite annoying having to trawl through lots of unnecessary non-Google Contacts entries to find the legitimate ones I want in my phone book.
My All People list has never had the Facebook View ticked and correctly displays just my Google Contacts, which is the only View ticked, but when you click on Phone the phone list displays all my Google Contacts and all my Facebook friends who display a phone number. I haven't found any way to remove these Facebook contacts from the Phone list, not even unchecking the Contacts Sync option for HTC Facebook works. The Phone list needs the same View option that the People app has got.

How does HTC Sense Facebook make associations with Google Contacts?
I've got three contacts where the phone has auto linked Facebook to Google, one doesn't have any details that match, Facebook name is different and they don't share their e-mail address on Facebook, and now has code in the notes section of their Google Contact entry to make the link, the other two names match their Facebook names exactly and don't have any code in their Google Contacts note section.

And how do I get rid of it? When I want to send a message, I get a mountain of address book options because my email addresses from my Gmail account appear to have automatically imported themselves in to my contact list (I don't recall authorizing this). Anyway, I want to get rid of them so I just see my phone contacts (phone numbers only).

Has or will anyone describe the process in detail for the mac users out there. I'm on a standard Eris and would like to move to the unofficial ROOTED 2.1 ROM but I don't own a PC and am hesitant about doing it without some guidance.

HTC Desire When I tap the 'To' box or the person icon there are multiple entries for each contact. The second person in my contact list appears at least 100 times, others are in there 6, 8 10+ times.Orange Help sent me a text. I deleted it. Took battery out etc. And guess what? No help at all. In the People folder the entries are there in their singular form. Anyone any ideas for resolving this? BTW - the contact only receives one message!!

Right, all my appointments are stored on my Outlook calendar at work. I can't get activesync to work with my server, so let's ignore that option. What I have been doing is using Google Calendar sync running on my PC to sync entries to my Google calendar. So far so good. Now initially, I synced my Desire to Google Calendar using the "Google" account in "Accounts and Settings". that worked fine. The entries in the Calendar app were given a blue stripe to identify them as being from the Google sync account.
I wanted to start using Google's own exchange servers to get my email and when I added that as a new account, I saw I could also sync calendar via the google activesync account. So I tried that too and predictably I got duplicate and double entries (oooo-er) in my Calendar app. So I just unticked the Google calendar and used the google-exchange one instead. Now today I wanted to do some large scale tidying up and noticed that in my Calendar, I have entries (orange stripe) which are listed as "Exchange" entries but under the Calendar settings - there is no longer an Exchange calendar!
All I have is PC Sync - nothing on that one
And Google sync! (the blue entries)
So how do I get rid of the exchange entries?

I like to enter in my work schedule into my phone and let it sync with Google Calendar, but recently, my phone has stopped syncing any newly created entries. I'm not sure what seems to be happening here, but does anyone know how to fix it? The calendar syncs perfectly to my phone when I put new entries in there but not when I enter into my phone. Anyway, I hope someone else has had this problem.

What is up with multiple "categories" in the phone book. By categories I mean:
Google
Exchange
Phone
etc
I have double and triple contacts in my phone now. I've knocked out Google altogether as I never used it before my Droid (HTC Eris). I sync with my personal laptop and it is running Outlook. I also setup an exchange point for my work info and I get all of the *SAME* contacts with that. Is there anyway to delete the contacts off the phone without losing them in my exchange connection? Also, when I add a contact via the phone, I cannot figure out how to get it to sync into exchange.The current sync map I want to move to is:Exchange (work) --> Plaxo.com
Outlook (personal machine) --> Plaxo.com
Eris Droid --> Exchange only That is, if I can figure out how to sync manual entries on my phone to exchange!

When I had my blackberry, I had google sync and my calendar on my phone synced with google (and vice versa) now I'm on the Hero, I noticed any entry I make on the phone duplicates and appears in my calendar on the phone twice. But entries I make in google calendar only appear once. How do I stop this?

I have Google Calendar entries from January through today that show on the Google Website, but only the last 30 days and forward show up on my Eris. Is there a way to show all the calendar entries from January through the present day? I have the 2.1 OTA, have done the Factory Reset, and have synchronized my Google Gmail, Contacts, and Calendar entries.

I thought I understood that there was no capability to sync with Outlook via the USB cable so I imported all my contacts and my calendar to gmail and that worked fairly well. Except for contact updates being a pain.
The I discovered HTC Sync and installed that. The result was duplicate calendar entries and some, but not all, contact duplicates on the phone.
I deleted the duplicate contacts and re-sync'd so it removed those contacts from Outlook. Luckily I had just backed up my PST file so I was able to get them back.
How to delete all contacts and calender entries from the phone so I can try again.

I've been using the *phone* calendar to make appointment reminders when I'm out and about. Now, I need to print those out for the past six months and I've searched all over--it doesn't seem possible.
Is there some clever poorly documented way to either PRINT the phone's calendar appointments? Or to synch them to another app on the PC, like Outlook, or the main Google Calendar account, so that they can be viewed and printed from the PC as well?
The information from my own Google Calendar shows up on the phone--but the phone's calendar appointments don't show up on except from the phone, where they can't be printed out.

It seems like every couple of months I lose my address book, subsequently I cant answer messages unless I can recognise the number and I end up having to wipe the fone and start again - which means downloading all the Apps again - its done it once again today, any ideas of a way round - I would prefer not to wipe as I lose my msg inbox etc

Normally when I put a new contact into Address Book on my Mac (Leopard) all I have to do is hit the sync button in the top menu and it's off to Google to be downloaded to my Desire.But! this does not appear to be working at the mo'. The upload from Mac to Google that is.Anyone know if it's a problem with Google at the mo' or something else.

I've recently got a a Tattoo and it is mostly fine (apart from the ridiculously hard to remove battery cover!). But the thing that is driving me nuts is how unstable HTC Sync is. I have uninstalled, re-installed on the PC and phone and had to delete all contacts on the phone once to "cleanse" and still every time I go to sync my calendar and contacts something goes wrong. Duplicates contacts and calendar entries in the phone and and on my PC! My work phone is windows and active sync is a dream compared to this!

If I clear the data in the "Contacts Storage" tab of "Manage Applications" will this only delete the data stored on the phone itself or will it also delete the contact on the exchange server as well? I have some contacts that are duplicates because they were put in the phone before I was able to get the exchange sync set up resulting in an entry for exchange and an entry for phone when in the "People" area.

I'm trying to write a program that manages a form of messages, and these messages are received from an external data source. This all works. However, the problem comes when I try to notify the user: I would like to have the notification jump directly to the message when it is touched, but this seems to mess up the back stack. This is probably best explained by example:
I open up the message list, the main activity, and browse for a while.
I hit home and go into another app (let's say Music).
A new message is received. A notification comes up, which I touch. The message detail view is displayed.
Now I hit Back. What I want to have happen is that I return to Music, but unfortunately, Back sends me to the message list, and then hitting Back will return me to music.
The both the list and the detail activities are marked as "singleTop", and the exact flags that I use for the notification Intent are:
FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK
FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP
FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP
I figure if the Messaging application can do this, why can't I?

I have just got my HTC Desire up and running with my work email. All works well except when I attempt to search my "company directory" there are always 0 results!
I have tried an application called Touchdown (something that many members of this forum have suggested) and can confirm that they address book searching works perfectly fine.
Does anyone know how I can get it to work on the native app? I have the latest HTC Desire firmware with software number 1.21.405.2

I need a calendar app that will let me copy parts of the detail section.
I create a new event on my computer. The details are usually a few pages long (For business) Google syncs it to the calendar widget. When I open it, I choose edit so that I can get to the copy app. But when I try to copy a section it wants to copy all text or none.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better calendar app? I use this feature a few times a day for business. It was easy on my Storm ;p . I want to figure out how to do it on my DIC.
