I am running KaosFroyo v37. I have Droid Wall installed and I've allowed Messeging and Handcent through. Also, I've turned on 3G. Anytime I try to download a MMS it fails. Even when I disable Droid Wall it fails.

trying to DL white window 4.4 to my SD card over 3g. tried in default browser and it said unable to DL. in opera mini 5 the DL makes no progress then eventually fails. have tried multiple links. just wondering why it won't work. any ideas? I'm really just screwing around anyway so its not a huge deal. also using tainted vanilla 1.4 if that makes a difference.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use an AlarmManager to run a Service which tries to download a file from the web. If it fails I'd like to retry that Service in 5 minutes.
Inside the Service I run an AsyncTask to run my code. As far as I know the only way I can tell if it failed or not is from the onPostExecute().
What is the best way of implementing a retry of that Service again?
Have X10 - generally happy with it but have recently been on holiday and needed the phone for the alarm. Have tried setting the alarm for Mon - Fri, everyday or weekend but whatever I do the alarm does not go off. I have checked the basic things - time setting, alarm tune, alarm time setting, ticked the relevant box (have tried every day or mon- fri) and no matter what I do the alarm will not go off so thus is very unreliable. Is there a fix for this or is there an app that I can download that will provide me with a fully functioning alarm that works as and when I want it to. Has this happened to you at all? I am currently running 1.6 but from some of the horror stories I read I am to upgrade to a higher version - if in fact I can do it or trust myself to not lose patience when the whole thing goes pear shaped.

I heard that there were issues with several gvoice updates, so I haven't updated google voice since 0.2.8 and it is working just fine- every call connects, no problems. Is it worth updating to the newest version of google voice with push? For those of you with 2.1 on your Eris- does google voice work for you?

Do the messages get stored on my card or device? SHould i delete my podcasts that rest on my card?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently activated my old Blackberry Curve because of my frustration with certain features on my Eris. I thought that I would still be able to browse the Internet on my Eris using wifi only but it's not really working. The reason I say "not really" is because I can do a Google search and look at Google News, etc, but I can't really go anywhere else. If I click on a link, or select one of my bookmarks, it just sits there and eventually times out. Does anyone understand why this won't work? When my Eris was activated, I could use wifi in areas where I had no cell coverage. I may reactivate my Eris soon.... I do miss the fun of it. Also the call quality is somewhat better than my Curve - although the Curve gets better reception in marginal signal areas. Love my Curve for push email and the real keyboard. When it's time for an upgrade, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to go with the latest Blackberry or Android phone. If they come out with a top of the line android phone with a good physical keyboard (not like the Droid's) I will be very tempted.

I was just looking over at the apps section of androidforums and found a link for the Need for Speed Shift apk. Has anybody tried it on the Eris to see if it works? I assume the processor can't handle it, but thought I would ask.

I was just looking at a newly released video of the Nexus One and I wondered if the ERis gets updated to 2.1 would it be able to handle the movement of the background images. I noticed with Beautiful Widgets, before it was laid to rest, that if you clicked on the weather when it was cloudy you could see the clouds moving in the background. But will the constant moving images on 2.1 slow up the processor on the Eris.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWell, I rooted my Eris to 2.1, mainly for the Navigator option, and all seems to be alright EXCEPT Google maps & Navigation. I get a exception message and only option is a Forced Close.
Have tried the Manage Apps-Filter--Do not get option to delete Updates--only choice is to clear data.
If I do that, where will I re download the google maps app?
I have everything downloaded for doing the root... the Rom, the recovery file, all that jazz... but I am hanging on the edge to whether or not I should do it. Afraid I'll brick the phone, and I'm worried once i have it, i really wont know what to do (more like keeping it up to date/maintenance) I'm up for any advice to sway me one way or another. JFYI, I'm just looking for opinions. I'm not going to blame anyone for my decision Lo L. I just want the full potential to my phone, while keeping it safe. P.S. You don't have to send me links on how to do it, where to look for Roms, etc etc. I've done my research her in the threads.
View 18 Replies View Relatedi recently got an eris from a friend and wiped it clean. now i read i wont receive an update from verizon for the last official 2.1 software anymore. so i don't know how to update my phone. i read on here that the only way to do this is to root my phone and download a file of the newest OS software. i don't know how to do any of this.
