Is it possible to backup all your apps using something like astro, copy them to your computer, compress them into a zip file, move that back to your phone and flash that after flashing a ROM to restore your apps, is this even possible or is it more complicated than that?

Ran into an issue. All attempts to backup files with astro and mybackup end up failed, though titanium works. Never seen or heard about this issue before. Running Fresh 3.1.0.1 and netarchy4.0.2

Using Titanium backup to backup all your apps etc. when switching to a new ROM. In my experience so far with rooting, Google has been backing up all my apps etc. and then restoring them all every time I try a new ROM. What is the advantage of Titanium?

However, when I was browsing through Astro tonight, I found the apps folder on the Evo, and when pulling up the apk of them with the App Manager, the uninstall button was available. I didn't click on it, because I wasn't sure if there would be any ramifications. Will I just get an error that says, I can't unistall it? Has anyone tried this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOnce I download an apk and place it on sd, and install it with astro file manager, does the apk have to stay on sd card or is it permanently installed to system until deletion?
For example my SuperUser.apk, wireless tether.apk and swype.apk were installed from sd through astro. I also have these apk's backed up with titanium backup. If i delete them from sd will they be removed and uninstalled from my system?
Also... I did a nandroid backup with the great clockwork recovery. This only backs up ROM and not apps/apks....right?
I'm looking to flash again... right after I loaded all of the market applications that I love onto the phone.
I apologize if this is a trivial question; I'm not yet all that familiar w/ the program management on the android. But what I would like to be able to do is create a directory (be it on the sdcard, my laptop, etc) and store the install files for all of the apps that I install on this phone after every flash. This would save a tremendous amount of time bringing the phone back up to usable status after a flash. And the cat's meow would be if the configurations for these apps could be backup locally as well. Similar to a ~/.name_of_application/ directory on a linux box.
I'm poking around the file system right now, and not finding anything obvious. Would these be the files out of /system/bin?
New Moto Droid X here. I was having trouble updating my " my verizon " app today and kept getting the message installation error package was not signed correctly. i read to delete the app and reinstall, but after i found out that the ota update coming out tomorrow supposed to fix this but i already went in the sys file with astro and deleted the verizon apk and astro said it was successful. is this possible to delete factory apps with astro did i screw my phone up

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

View 13 Replies View RelatedHope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my Desire, and am currently using the deFrost FroYo ROM.I'm trawling through and looking at different ROM options.I currently have all of my applications installed on the SD Card.If I take out the SD Card with the installed apps, and use a 'fresh' SD card to flash the new ROM, will putting the original SD card in the phone retain all of the apps and just work 'as is'? Or do I still need to back them all up somehow?

I had NFL Mobile on my Eris. I upgraded to a DInc but still have the backup. If I install from backup then "Upgrade" the app will it function from a billing standpoint as if I originally had the app in June?

The missing apps aren't always paid apps though, just certain ones (both free and paid). The only solution I've found is to go back to the stock Rom.. does anybody have any ideas/suggestions? I recently rooted 2.1update1, I backed up twice with sprecovey...2.1 unrooted, 2.1 rooted. Then downloaded Ti backup and did a full backup of apps. I bought ROM manager and downloaded p3droid 1ghz kernal and flashed it. I know it probably worked but I ended up restoring to the back up that ROM manager made just before flashing p3droid kernal. How can I restore my settings and apps after I flash a ROM? Is there a way to add p3driod to over clock without overiding my apps?Didn't want to get in too deep without finding out first. I read for weeks before I rooted, Im ready for the quick answer. Im considering CM or Nexbeast...not sure. I really don't mind the rooted droid OS, but id like to use wireless tether and over clock a little. If I flash to a new rom can I redownload TI backup and have it restore all my apps from my SD? I also have sprecovery backups on my PC, but that wont help because they were created on stock 2.1 rooted.
