So my friend wanted to check his email and added an account, and I have since deleted the account. But now whenever i type in a username that starts with the same letter(s) his username comes up by autofill. Anyone know how to delete that without doing a factory reset?

just got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had my phone nearly a year and how it's got a cache of people I've sent emails to, because sometimes I want to retrieve an address I didn't think I'd need again... However, it also presents some annoying issues. It also saves every typoed address I've ever fat-fingered, and sometimes it comes up as the first choice when it was for someone in my contacts, and I then send a message to a bad address. If you go to write an email and press that little 'contact' button in the "To" field area, it shows me a list, and I don't know where some of those are coming from - it's some but not all of my contacts and some but not all of the addresses I've ever written to. I would like to clean out the fat-finger errors and also that mysterious list that comes up when you press the little contact icon when composing an email, without taking a scorched-earth approach. Googling around indicates to me that this has annoyed people for years and nobody's found a solution.
I have a Galaxy S3 running the recent update to 4.3.
In the email app that came with my Sprint HTC Evo, I added my googleapps email... I then later discovered the gmail android app works better.. So I set it up there also. However, the email app still has my email account setup in it.. I don't see a way to delete it. I've held down the account, but no context menu shows up.. there's no delete function apparently.. I'd add another account to test with, but I'm afraid I won't be able to delete that either!

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to clear historical contacts from the Email application. I'm using yahoo, I don't have Gmail set up on this phone because yahoo is my primary email. I've sent emails to 3 wrong emails. For example JoeSmith@aol.com, JSmith@aol.com, JoeS@aol.com but really his email is JoeSmith@yahoo.com. Now everytime I go to send this person an email, all 4 emails come up, the 3 in history, and the 1 in his contact information. When I type in J in the email recipient, all 4 come up, 3 say "history" next to the line of the email. I tried to add those emails into the contact, and then delete the emails, but that doesn't work.
I've went to yahoo to see if those contacts are showing up in history and they are not, so I know the historical email history is on the phone only. I haven't found a way to remove these items in history, but it's starting to cause problems because if I don't pay attention, I am choosing one of the wrong emails. Same thing is happening when I hit reply to ALL, 1 time about 2 months ago, and now i have about 40 emails in history and I don't even know who these people are, they are not in my contacts, and the phone is holding them hostage because I sent an email once. Does anyone know of a sure way to remove these historical emails?
If you don't know what I mean, give it a try, send an email to JOE@yahoo.com, and when you get it kicked back, the next time you try to send an email and hit "J", that JOE@yahoo.com will show up every single time, without fail. I've checked all historical settings on the phone, and even removed and re-added the yahoo account, but it does no good, the historical emails still stay in history. It's getting very annoying to have 45+ emails that you dont even know show up everytime you try to email someone something. Someone must have an answer for this, I can't be the only one that has sent the wrong email to someone.
Is there a way to delete email from the droid but have it stay in my gmail account? I want it to be how the blackberry is set up were it gives you the option to delete out of both phone and gmail account or delete from phone and stay in gmail account.

Now I stumbled across the Android AccountManager classes. Would it be possible to use this classes to store a username and a password that could be accessed after a delete/reeinstall cycle of my application?
If yes how would I do this? And would that require the user to enter its keystore credentials every time the application runs and the keystore isn't opened already?
I can login to Gmail.com on any desktop/mobile browser however whenever I try to add a Google Account on my phone, I get this error: Your username and password do not match. (To recover your account information, go to URL.... on your computer.)"
I have tried changing the password but its still the same. I know its not a password issue as I can login to google.com on my desktop and laptop.I also went to this site and tried to add a Google account but it did not work. Tried setting up a different Google ID and it worked right away. So it looks like there has to be some issue with my Google ID.

Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a new Galaxy Nexus (yay!) and my husband wants to take over my old Desire (Froyo, no other ROM installed). The Desire is rooted, but I had trouble with that process so I don't really want to reset the phone to its factory state. However, I can't delete my Google account to make my husband's the primary. This means that he has to remember to change accounts for each email he writes, among other inconveniences, and the phone is showing a triangle error icon in the notification bar because I canceled its access to my 2-step validation process, so it isn't happy about not being able to synchronize my account. Is there any way (other than resetting completely) to remove my account from the Desire?

1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).
Is there a way to delete a GOOGLE account after rooted. I've tried all the suggestions about clearing data but it still says there are apps dependent on this. I can't log into the market because it wants to use the old account. I had to make a new account because my other one has been compromised. Can I do a factory reset? Will this ruin the ROM flash?

Is this only way to delete/remove second google account from my phone? I'm using google Apps Standard Edition which is using my own domain name. Everything is ok till I add second gmail account like xxxx@gmail.com. I would like to remove it but, it said "This accont is required by some applicatins. you can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults" Try kill all programs and try to remove it but, it didn't work. Call verizon and spoke with them two hours. they transfer me here and there and no solution but do a factory format.
