I have the recently released 2.1 update. Could someone point me in the right direction for rooting my phone as well as how to unlock the ability to connect to an ad hoc network? I know Its possible with rooted phones.

Few quick questions that I was hoping someone could answer. The developers edition g1 should work fine on the At&t network, correct? Will it be able to connect to At&t's 3g network? If you could answer these I will be forever in debt to you, I have looked everywhere for this information only to lead me here, still confused.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've experienced quite a lot of problems with the WiFi after updating the Andriod. Everytime I try to connect to my home-network i get that it failed to connect.
The phone didn't have any problems with this before the update.
Anyone had the same kind of problem, or anyone that has a smart fix for it?
I have had some issues with my Eris and Verizon is offering me a Droid (also, LG Ally, HTC Imagio, Droid is the best option here)
I had a few questions that I saw on here, but I'm not 100% about.
1. Does this come with a cable to connect to the PC? The Eris's charger was both a charger and a cord to connect to the PC, really like this ability.
2. Does Droid have the ability to run Froyo WITHOUT rooting?
3. Can you comment on some things I may find annoying or cumbersome with the phone?
4. Can you comment on the benefits I will get?
I've just installed 2.2 on my unlocked unbranded desire from CPW on Orange.All seems well except I can't connect to my wireless network any more. I've tried rebooting and tried setting up a new connection.I just keep getting "Obtain IP adress from" but it never connects.

It works with everything else except the eris. my xbox 360, nintendo wii, macbook pro, and multiple windows computers all work fine. My itouch connects to it nd so do all my other friend's android phones. I know my wifi on my phone works because I can use it on any other network. It seems to me that the wifi driver (do phones have drivers) needs to be updated. Is this possible?
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.
Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).
Kinda wish I had just rooted my 1.5 and then gone 2.1 instead of the 2.1 v2 leak now... Is there any update on how to go back? Or is there any word on them rooting 2.1 v2?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI love my aria, i got it 9/29/10, for free from best buy because my contract expired... but ive already used 20MB and i only bought a 200MB plan... i might go to 2 gigs, but for an alternate, since my billing cycle ends the 28th of every month... if i disable application syncing, and mobile network from the hold menu... can i connect to my home wifi network, and go on the internet from there without that using any of my data plan?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am very upset that I can not initiate a phone call THROUGH my blue tooth headset. I was told by HTC Customer support that the 2.1 OS doesn't support it. I was then told that they have no idea when 2.2 will be rolled out.
That the agents were told THE MORNING that 2.1 came out, that "2.1 is now out there. Get ready." Then told that 2.2 is being developed, but that the customer service agent's have NO idea when it will be released. They are being told to say, "In the near future."
I was also told that the "Incredible" has the same software as the Eros, and therefore, the blue tooth is NOT any more fully compatible. Which is interesting, since the Verizon agent said, "Oh yeah, just upgrade to the Incredible, it works fully, with blue tooth devices." Mind you, that would be an additional $99.95. Inmagine how pissed I'd be if I did THAT!
The best way to go with rooting, based on the info below please? From a thread I read ages ago (that I can't find now), I seem to remember that the Hero on the 3 network has to be downgraded and something about a gold card. Is this correct? I just want to make sure I'm following the right instructions before I start!

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...
So it's been almost 2 weeks now and I still cannot connect to the 4G Network. The phone finds the 4G network, but cannot "obtain an IP address from Sprint".Sprint has been working on the problem, I get atleast 2 phone calls/emails from them daily, to try new things. But at this point, they have not been able to figure it out.At this point, I have to believe it is just a bad phone, but they said they cannot replace it until Friday, which thankfully is almost here.Hopefully no one else will see this problem. But if you have/do and figure out how to fix it, please let me know.

I went out of town for the weekend and ever since I have returned my phone will not connect to my router.I have "forgotten" the network and re-entered the password but that didn't fix the problem either.It just says "obtaining IP address".

The EVO 4g says it is connected to my network OK, but the phone doesn't appear as a device or drive anywhere on the network where I can see it. USB connection works OK.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had the stock ota 2.2 update...followed the 2.2 root exploit and eas running good, until i had problems with my sms text messaging and decided to revert back to stock and now i cant connect to sprint network. i called sprint customer service and had me do a bunch of reset and put in codes and still NO DICE! It is still showing "S-OFF" when i go to HBOOT.

I know i screwed up royally. My phone boots up to activate account but nothing happens. Is there anything else i can do? I'm going to Oakland tomorrow night for a vacancy and i would hate not having this bad ass phone with me as a DUD.
I got a chinese X12 dual sim phone because i really needed only 1 phone (had to carry around 2 of them).Phone works great, only problem is with the mobile networks. It can connect to GSM networks but it won't connect to a 3G network. The phone has 3G capabilities, 3G is enabled for the required sim, it finds the 3G network but it will not connect to it.
Sim works fine, had it in a Samsung i900 on 3G (WCDMA) The thing that surprises me most is that the phone came with android 4.0 instead of the 2.3.6 it was advertised, could this be the problem?
Today I installed a custom rom for my chinese phone Mlais mx65 everything works fine but, I can't connect to my network with my sim card, and it's weird i tried installing stock rom and other roms
View 8 Replies View Related'm having a problem with my Verizon G2. I had the Xposed framework installed, and I installed an app called Xorware, which is a toggle for 2G/3G/4G. I messed around with the settings in the app a little bit, and left it alone. A bit later, the phone stopped connecting to the mobile data network. I tried uninstalling the Xorware apps, wiping the cache on my phone, and even restoring to a backup where I don't have Xposed installed, and I'm still getting the same issue. Wifi still works, but every couple of minutes it disconnects randomly and then connects again. I also tried removing the SIM card for a few minutes after turning off the phone, and still, no luck.

I am having problems with a module in my application connecting programmatically to a network/AP.Monitoring the network,I see probe requests transmitting from the device, but I do not see an Authentication/Association request to the access point that I specify in the BSSID. Why it is more complicated (if you don't know), is that you have to connect to the wifi, then enter your student ID and password into the browser, then you can access the internet. (similar to some airports)I am able to connect with the browser, but apps that require internet won't work. Is there anyway to make an app that will keep you authenticated so that apps can use the wifi?

I go to uOttawa and the network is a WPA authenticated with PEAP and MSCHAPv2. The network information is here (WPA Client). I have tried to setup the network and when it is all done the problem comes up that it won't connect to the network or I get a message saying network not within range.
