I am rooted! Woot... But im having issues getting wireless tether to work. Says its on but from my other devices nothing shows up as far as wireless connections go....any ideas? Really would like to get this going especially with wifi only galaxy tab coming out!

Has anyone got the Wireless Tether app working on their rooted Desire yet? Not working for me- connection is establishing between phone and computer but no data is being transferred. According to the google code page for the app there's a problem with Desire compatibility. I'd use the wired USB internet sharing feature in the meantime but that isn't working for me either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Eris and I am running KaosFroyo v37. I downloaded Wireless Tether, and its not working. Its broadcasting that it made an available wireless access point, but when I try to connect to it nothing happens. My computer wont link up to it. I know my WiFi card works because I have a working wireless access point where I live that I use every day with no issues. Its like my laptop sees the network, but wont associate with it. I tried using barnacle and it did the exact same thing.

View 23 Replies View RelatedOn my netbook, i can''t seem to get a connection to stick in xp. It will say "connected" but then jumps to connect to the other wireless router signal I have in the house. I tried shutting down the house router, and I just could not connect. I have Ubuntu installed on an sd card so I booted said netbook into that. Wireless tether works fine there. I need wireless tether in windows, though. For work. I am using 2.0.5 -pre11 version.
Is there another version that I should be using? Slightly aggravated as I've been at this for an hour and a half now. I know i've seen threads to this effect, but can't seem to get the right info at this point. Also, could someone please confirm thier wireless network adapter settings on the laptop side? I assume it's auto -acquire for both ip and dns, but wasn't sure.
I have been reading myself in circles & am a bit confused on which way to go. I am enjoying the Evo but I would like the wireless tether. I guess there are other rooted things in the future I could install but the big draw for me is replacing my wmwifirouter on my WM device on my Evo.
I just don't know what the downsides are for one over other other. I think that Fresh has tethering already built in but I don't know if there are issues with the SD card or other items. Or should I just get the stock ROM that is rooted over at XDA?
I rooted and downloaded app can not get to connect to laptop. Do I need to turn the wifi on my SF too?

After you root, do you use the wireless hotspot app already on your phone, or do you need to download another app to use. I'm not quite brave enough to try this yet, but as a previous BB Storm user I tried nearly every upgraded OS that was leaked and never had an issue. The universal androot app looks pretty fool proof.

I turn it on and it says that its been granted superuser permissions but then no data moves up or down(or it'll say .4 down and .2 up) and no devices find it! Anyone else experience it dropping the internet connection or wifi after about an hour? It works great up to that point and doesn't show an error or anything but it just stops communicating. I have to stop tethering and start tethering and its back up again. Its not a huge issue, just something that I would resolve if I could. It was happening on pre9 but I upgraded to pre13 and it still happens. Im on Myns RLS3 with Netarchy 4191bfs kernel but it was doing it on the stock HTC #10 kernel that came with Myns.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI already picked up some good tips but am having a lot of problems with my droid. I will start with the tethering issue. I have mine done with smoked glass and it has the wireless tether installed. It will open and my computer will sync up with it either secured or unsecured and then you will see a several seconds flash of bytes in and out and then the kbps will drop down to 0 and I will be unable to connect to the internet. I have read that newer versions may solve the problem and that if I dont have my ordinal sd card in, it might be the problem since the info may be needed? I did try copying those folders onto this card but still no good. The android one to be exact. If the only option is to remove this tether and install a new apk one, how do I that? I cant seem to find it?

I have tried it with and without a wep key and with and without access control, but I always get error code 51300 or 51301. I don't know if this is because it seems like there is still some sort of mac filtering (which is not supported by the ds) even when access control is disabled. Is there anyway to preapprove a certain mac address or has anyone been able to get their wifi connection to work with the ds?
View 3 Replies View Relatedi saw the other 2 posts and i will try them once i get home from work, however i must add, my wireless tether for root users shows a connection but not a wifi connection, just a computer to computer connection, with no internet available when i connect to it with my laptop, is there something in the settings that i need to configure? im going to uninstall with titanium backup and reinstall hopefully, it will work, but i will repost on this thread, whether it works or not, but if someone can let me know how the config is supposed to be laid out i'd appriciate it.
