I DL/d the update today but did not install, don't wanna lose Unrevoked. now it's sitting in my taskbar and I don't wanna install it by accident, so is there a way to remove it from the phone or at least the taskbar?

I'm looking for a way to remove the taskbar clock on the incredible, I've seen different ways for other phones, but none for ours. I just hate redundancy having two clocks.

I was on 2.2 rooted on my droid x. Attempted to install a replacement for the taskbar. The phone is stuck in a boot loop now. I've read about 5,000 different pages saying just use RSD. It all starts by saying; plug the phone in, let the computer detect it, install the drivers.. This is where I'm stuck. The only thing I have access to is the recovery console and the big endless loop. So at no point the phone turns on to the point where the PC will detect it as a device.

Cool tablet but coming from Blackberry Playbook (still own it) it just kills me that the taskbar (i think this is how it is called) is always visible whether watching a movie or playing a game. My samsung is supposed to get ICS update soon and i am wondering if it has option to hide taskbar? Having it always visiblereally ruins whole experience playing games or watching movies.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using dx power app for a long time now. Although I have updated manyu times I always went back to version 1.4.6 and I want to stick to that version now.
Only the update service from that apk is still checking and notifying that new versions are available. I want to disable that service.
In the attached screenshot you see that the service is called AppUpdateService. I can stop it there but it will restart itself again.

I updated my Milestone last week and all was working ok. I decided to root the phone today and ended up in some constant re-boot loop where the android logo would appear then reset. I managed to get the phone working again after several hours of worry, but there still seems to be some issues. I would like to remove the 2.0.1 update and re-install it again from frest so that i can fully remove this root access and hopefully my problems.

I had a stock Incredible that I rooted with Unrevoked3. I then ran Unrevoked Forever on it and then downgraded to remove root. I placed the 2.2 Update on the sdcard and went through the recovery menu to select it and then try to install it. The above error is what I get everytime I try to update. This is also the same error I got when I tried to accept the OTA when I was rooted (in my grogginess in the morning when I woke up and saw the OTA, I just kept hitting ok having completely forgotten about my phone being rooted). I don't know much about coding other than the little I use to do with Java/C++/HTML in school, but what I am getting out of this is my phone does not like the 2.2 update file. I am assuming that it may have an MD5 Hash in verifying/installing the file that it does not like?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've put together an update that will remove the haptic feedback on the Eris when you press the dialer keys (it does still make the sounds though). It works great for me but I was wondering if someone else could test and let me know how it works for them. All the credit for the method goes to JsChiSurf at xda-developers who figured out how to do this for the Hero. I just decompiled the HtcDialer apk from the latest Eris 2.1 leak (Leak 4?) and applied JsChiSurf's method to it (adding a return-void to the vibration function). Just load the zip from your recovery image. This does not delete any of your data. However, please, please do a nandroid backup before you use this. This is my first attempt at creating this sort of thing. Comments and criticism welcome.

Does the 4.4 update remove the carriers restrictions on the Google wallet? Specifically can you use the nfc payment. I read that the carriers restricted the nfc payment feature on Google wallet for "supposed security reasons" and that the 4.4 update is supposed to fix this.

Basically I have a couple of older gen phones which are pretty crap for anything but media purposes, I use them whilst training or at an OP in Afghan. I just throw my headphones on if im running, as if I drop them.. I dont mind much.
Id like it if I could whack my sim in one, but remove the call function for OPSEC purposes. Still remain useful for SMS and Data(internet) usage whilst im away or even home. I've done this with certain devices (Wildfire, this was only used for Beats and Net, I removed the SMS and call function)

Which Android 2.1 update will I need? Generic, Orange or the new network provider? If it is the generic one will this also have the benefit of unbranding the phone and getting rid of Orange apps? If it is the Orange upgrade will the phone become locked to their network again and require unlocking again?I need the phone to stay unlocked for the future.

When should I be prompted that an update is available via PC Companion? because when I look in the phone settings and check for updates it says there's one available, but not on PCC?
