HTC EVO 4G :: Loose Charging Port
Jul 19, 2010
the charging port on the EVO has come loose. :-( It has a little more "play" more than normal. Downside is i have to hold it a certain way to maintain a charge. Times like this i hate. So my question is should i call sprint and cash in on my insurance? or try out the Pre / Wireless charging hack? Heck, Im not sure if i should even take apart my evo and see if I can fix it. How did it get this way? Well, having a car charger that has a Coiled cord will put some tension on it, especially if you are using it (Calls, Surfing, GPS). I have had my Evo since Launch with no issues at all, till now.

there is a MSN widget so i can receive live instant messages. My friend had one on his nokia n900 and it was pretty cool. Also will the desire allow charging of the phone via a usb connection i.e usb port on a laptop/desktop computer?

I have an EVO on order with Amazon (early Oct delivery - ouch!), hoping to get one locally before then but at least I have a backup plan. I've been reading a lot about the charger port issues and the screen peeling/separation issues. Does anyone know if these manufacturing defects (assuming that's what they are) have been fixed or do new EVO's still run the risk of having these problems? I've had Verizon and AT&T before and it's always been relatively easy to get a new replacement device if the original had issues. It sounds like it's not as easy on Sprint so I'm a bit concerned...

the last 2 days I've tried to charge my phone, it connects for about 2 seconds, then disconnects. i have to move the cable around, almost bending it downward, for it to register a charge. its starting to get really annoying because i have to make sure its charging for a little bit and sometimes have to prop it up so the cable is bent for it to charge before i can walk away. I just want to check on this forum before i take it to the sprint store or best buy where i got it.

sprint can't say "Its the users fault" because you know dam well its not. If you have a loose or broken port please post here and try to include your hardware version 2 or 3 and your build dates. Frankly im sick and tired of HTC and Sprint passing the buck about there faulty equipment.

I have a feeling my my X10 USB port is somewhat broke. It won't charge whatsoever via the mains or via PC USB cable. I have had to purchase a plug travel charger with the 2 prongs in order to get it working. Would the software have played any part in disabling the USB port on the phone - which a software upgrade or flash would solve or would I be looking at a complete USB port replacement on the Xperia?

so is it just me or does placing the port at the top of the phone suck? I mean it already spends alot of its life plugged in, and if I am in the car and want to use it it is a royal PITA...

I am wondering what the charging port type is on the droid? I just noticed that my droid car mount will slide onto my motorcycle TomTom mount. The problem is I wired my bike with the standard USB charger. The droid uses some different type of usb connector. What do they call it? Do they make an adaptor to go from the Droid connector to the standard USB connector?

My phone stopped charging consistently so I installed a new OEM charging port. The phone charges great now however it took a long time to charge. Now I get a message that says that there is no mobile network available. I have double checked that the antenna is attached and all else was a pretty straight forward swap.

Problem is that both charging port and battery and malfunctioning. My charger port has a mind of its own. Only certain chargers positioned in certain ways will charge it. I'm talking about brand new charge cords (no shorts in cord itself) that when plugged in will over work if I play with the port for awhile. Along with the problems actually getting the charging port to work, there is also problems with the battery. The battery has a terrible life using all of the battery conserving settings it drains like crazy. And along with that when I charge my phone with it off it will tell me fully charged many times but when I turn the device on I'm in the RED.

My charging cable doesn't seem to plug all the way in when pressed. The phone charges fine, but I am wondering if that is the normal fit or not. It is almost like the sliding door doesn't open wide enough.

I may be taking my Evo back to Best Buy already. I have tried a couple of different 3.5mm plugs and they are all loose in my phones jack. If I move the phone around it sometimes loses connection. These plugs were the same one's that worked fine with my Hero. Anyone else having this problem?

I wanted to see who else has rattles above/around the camera and who has a loose volume rocker. I have seen both of these topics briefly covered on this forum and others. *Some believe the rattles come from the camera's auto-function feature, while others dont have any symptoms. I can tell you for sure, its not the battery, battery cover, headphone jack, volume rocker, kickstand, memory card or memory card clip. Does your evo have a rattle? - Android Forums Strange Hardware Sound - Anyone Else?

So I have a squeaky clean account with Verizon, four lines, all smart phones minus one phone. NEVER missed a payment and always upgraded. I have had plenty of problems with my phones but never complained too much or created issued. I have been very nice with them, but I've about hit my limit here.
We have a defective Moto Droid on our account, and a defective Incredible. They have already agreed to give me an X for my Incredible. But, they have sent us not one, but now 3 refurbrished phones that are crap. The screens have ALL been loose, and the build has been absolute crap compared to the original phone. They are sending me another one from a different warehouse tomorrow. I am so irritated. If I receieve another refurb with a loose screen and bad build I don't think I am going to be able to deal with Verizon very nicely.
What do you think I should do? Should I be nice and wait for ANOTHER refurb if this one is bad? Or should I get mad and tell them they can take there refurb backs and send me a NEW phone?

I've only been using my Nexus One for about 24 hours and it has suddenly started rattling when i place it down on a surface or shake it a little. It also occurs when the phone vibrates. As you can imagine this is pretty annoying, especially as you'd expect something that costs over $500 to be very well built.I've worked out it's coming from the top end of the device near the camera but I can't find exactly what it is that's causing the problem Has anyone else come across this or did I just get unlucky? I've been very careful handling the phone.. haven't abused it at all.

Anyone else have a loose volume rocker, it actually moves around a bit without me even touching it. It doesn't change the volume settings or anything(unless i press the button) but it does make a sound when I move the phone around. It's kind of annoying.
