HTC EVO 4G :: Can You Play 3gp Files In ASTRO?
Sep 20, 2010
When I click on a 3gp file in astro, it'll say "file type 3gp not found" but it'll play fine in the Gallery app. I swore when I clicked on a 3gp file in the past while browsing in astro, it'll pop up with an option but it no longer does. I cleared all defaults too.

I want to install a couple of applications that aren't on the market (notably RockPlayerBase and CarHome.)Anyway, I have Astro (the free version) and I have set the phone to allow unknown installations. However when I navigate to the .apk files on the SD card using astro and select 'Open App Manager' all the summaries are blank and if I go to the 'Details' tab it displays the message "Could not open /sdcard/download/CarDock.apk as APK file".It seems to do this with all .apk files I try and install.

Ditched out my bb torch 9800 and got myself a nice htc one x lte , so i am faily new to Android. So far so good i don't regret the move . I got the astro file manager to organised my pics and docs and when i cut and paste the files in astro everything goes well . However when i look back into my pics for example the pics i organised in the new folders are still showing outside the folders but can't open them but can delete them . If i look in the new folders my pics are there and everything works fines . It looks like ICS is not refreshing . Am i missing a setting somewhere ? It's a pain to delete each fake files after they are moved .

okay so here is my problem. My evo wont do anything once paired to my computer via bluetooth. i paired it successfully, then later i wanted to send a file from my phone to my computer via bluetooth, (i have ftp enabled) and told my computer to expect a file and nothing. it doesn't work. also when i check the pairing profile on my computer, under services it is COMPLETELY blank, there should be some services like dial-up modem and bluetooth speakers and stuff shouldn't there be?
here is what i want to be able to do.
1. i want to send files from my EVO to my computer via Astro Bluetooth.
2. i would also like to use my laptop speakers via bluetooth, example, play Pandora on my phone using my laptop speakers via bluetooth connection
that is really all i want to do but i cant get ANYTHING working. could this be solved by rooting my evo? i really just wanna be able to do basic bluetooth functions with my phone.

I created a hidden directory/folder with astro using the .filename technique. The problem is I can't find the folder. When I mount the droid to the computer, I can see the files, so I know they are there. How can I make it so I can see them on the phone when not connected to the computer?

Now I am slightly new to the android game. Had a D1 that I traded for and I loved it. Used Astro File manager on there to get swype when it was available. I hear about this app and how it is great and you need it. I have downloaded it and I am not really 100% positive on its purpose. Is it just an easy way to delete files? Are there files I shouldn't delete?

Has any1 been successful in using Astro or any other file manager to move files from the SD Card to the internal Memory located at /EMCC/ ? I've tried a couple times, both moving small amount of files and/or entire folders and got Error messages in Astro. Is this just lack of support or can u really just add files using a Computer to the internal memory?

I ripped my home dvd collection to H.264 with AAC audio and a .m4v container. My evo wont play the files! Is there a way that the evo can be made to play them? I don't feel like transcoding my collection of movies just to play it in my phone... I feel ripped off because sprint announced that it was the ultimate HD media phone yet you cant play a simple 480p movie...

I need to be able to play wav files that are emailed to me from my cable company's voice mail service for my home phone. I have tried playing them from gmail as well as 3 other email accounts. It was so easy on my Blackberry Storm that I never anticipated this problem with my Dinc.

I heard that you can play Mp4 video's on the EVO so i transferred some videos from my PC and non of them play on the EVO, the most i have been able to get is sound but the screen is black, some of them won't even play the sound.I also tried a DivX file but that one doesn't even show up on the phone at all.So which files actually play on the phone? this is my first Android phone i have always had Windows Mobile or iphone and have never had so much problems trying to playback a video on a smartphone.

I have searched for Video Format threads and Handbrake threads, read them, tried things out, but I'm still stuck. I just received my phone today, so I'm still a noob when it comes to all of this, so please forgive my ignorance.I just downloaded my digital copies of UP and WALL-E onto my Mac with the intention of putting them on my Evo to watch. I can watch them fine through itunes in .m4v format. Through research, I have found that m4v's are basically the same as mp4's and that the Evo should be able to playback m4v files. However, when I transfer to my SD card (I made a "Videos" folder in my SD card) the video shows up in the native Video player, but I get an error saying it's unable to play. Additionally, I have tried downloading Real Player and mVideoPlayer and those too can see the file, but can not play it back.So I decided to try to convert the m4v files to mp4 via Handbrake. Problem is, Handbrake crashes every single time I try to convert a video. I followed this step by step tutorial, but to no avail.

I finally sync'd my itunes but I can't get all of the files to play in cubed or the default player. They aren't even showing up in the players although they are in the folder on the sd card. Is there a patch or something I can do to get cubed to recognize them? Its almost half my music. Needless to say, I wont be giving apple anyof my money ever again.

i noticed while putting movies on my phone storage, not my sd card, that files over 2 GB will not play. This is bad.I converted The Dark Knight the same as I convert all my other movies. It would play on my computer but not my phone. So I checked the "Details" of the file on my phone. It showed as 0 bytes when it should have been 2.09 GB.I thought it might have converted with an error. Converted it two more times. Same problem. Finally I converted it with a lower resolution to bring the size down to 1.8 GB. It plays just fine.

I have multiple audio files in the assets directory of my application. When the user clicks a button I want to play those files in a certain order, one after the other. There shouldn't be any noticeable lag between the audio files. What is the best approach to achieve this? I am thinking of using MediaPlayer objects and OnCompletionListeners. But, that would mean I have to create a lot of OnCompletionListeners because I need to know every time which audio file is next. Am I missing something or is there a better approach?
