Samsung Moment : VLC Like Player For Droid To Play Mp4 , Wmp , Other Assorted Video Files?
Apr 4, 2010I thought the Moment's video player could play MPEG-4(mp4) videos, but when I browse to a website that has an mpeg-4 video, I get the error message saying the video is not supported. Here's a link to a video that doesn't play on my Moment, but will play inside Quicktime on my PC. Is there a VLC like player for android to play mp4, wmp and other assorted video files?

Nov 7, 2009I have tried converting videos to the mobile MP4 format. I copy them to my SD card on my Moment, but when I browse to that folder in file viewer on my phone.. it doesn't see the files. Has anyone had any luck playing video's off the SD card?

Apr 1, 2010I have a Samsung Moment and I am having issues when converting dvd movies to play on my moment.. The real issue is it will play as mpeg 2 or 4 fine, but its the fact that it only shows up as a small rectangle and does not use the full potential of the screen. When I put sd where I saved the movie into my hero, the movie fills up the whole screen even though the dvd is wide screen..I am using DVD Fab to convert my dvds, it works fine with my hero and my ipod touch.

Sep 14, 2010I have not been able to play avi files that I copied from my canon digital camera on my epic. Finally found a free video player called arcMedia which plays avi files, but the video quality is completely messed up. I read about Handbrake software using which we can convert avi files into mp4 files. But I have a huge collection of avi files and d not want to be converting every single avi file so I can play it on my epic. I also tried finding Rockplayer in android marketplace, but could not find it from my epic phone.

Jun 1, 2010I was directed here by the Google Android Devs Group. I'm still not sure if this is the place I need to be. I've been on forum after forum and asked the same question but no one seems to know the answer or will tell me the REAL correct place to find it. I have a Samsung Moment with Android 2.1. I can not get videos that DID play on Android 1.5 to play on 2.1 now with very few exceptions. I'm not just talking about different videos with the same format, I'm talking about some of the exact same videos that did play in 1.5 will no longer play in 2.1. These are almost all AVI files. If Android doesn't support AVI natively with it's own stock media player then why or how was I able to play these videos flawlessly on 1.5? The way I always played the videos was viewing my SD card, tapping the thumbnail of the video I wanted, and it would automatically open up in the phones media player right away. Now the phone locks up and then eventually gives an error message.

Nov 20, 2009Thought some people may be interested in how to get JAR/JAD files running on their Samsung Moment (this should work for most Android devices, but I've been running on my Moment). I also don't think that all JAR/JAD programs convert; but so far most mine have...
1. With your JAD & JAR files, go to: Get APK and convert to an APK file
2. Save your APK file onto your SD card
3. Download AppManager (one word) or comparable program that allows you to install from your SD card
4. Install Java J2ME Runner App
5. Using AppManager, install the created apk file from your SD card
Your file should be found both in your main folder; as well as in the J2ME's "App Manager". You may need to play with the configuration to get the program to fit alright. I have Auto detect Game Canvas clicked; but have had to change it for a few games.It's not perfect, but it seems to work alright with some of my old java games.

In the Android music player, many of the albums (classical, mostly), were all jumbled together in an "Unknown artist" file. The instruction book for the phone says I should not use my computer to create new folders, or rename folders, on the SD. HOw, then do I delete and rearrange music files? Jan 28, 2010I searched and only found a threat for BeamReader, which I downloaded, but I keep running into the same "issue". I have yahoo and there is a pdf file attached to one of my emails. Whenever I try to open it from yahoo it tells me download unsuccessful.I have tried several pdf readers (the latest one being BeamReader), but they all have one thing in common for some reason, whenever I open the application I get a list of folders that are actually my music folders. Sep 4, 2010Some time ago...I estimate a week at most, I received an error when simply saving a file from my Browser, stating there was not enough space to do so. Knowing my phone had mre than adequate space, I presumed it was just an error with my browser.
Trying again with a different internet browser, I was met again with the same dilema. To make matters worse, I cannot permanently delete picture files from the default viewer on my phone. Queerily, I can delete them, only to have the pictures return hours later. To make my situation more unusual; Upon viewing the SD card mounted on my laptop, I can move, add & delete any form of files with ease. Even saving/deleting other files using different apps (Videobox, for example) gives me no hassle whatsoever.
One solution I'm willing, but at the same time reluctant to try is to reset my phone entirely to it's factory default setting (prior to backing up all of my SD card's data, of course)
