HTC EVO 4G :: Will Rooting Make UI Run Smoother?

Aug 17, 2010

So the evo animations run embarrassingly compared to droid x on the UI. I was at the verizon store yesterday comparing them even the htc incredible runs smoother as far as the interface goes. Will rooting make this better? I'm sure the EVO is capable even more than any of those two phones.

Samsung Vibrant :: Freezing Bloatware Make Home Screen Scrolling Smoother

Oct 21, 2010

Rooted my replacement Vibrant but didn't wanna remove the bloatware right away in case future froyo required it. So, I tried just freezing the apps with Titanium. This makes sure they never start up when you turn your phone on and they are removed from the app drawer. You just unfreeze them whenever you want. Anyway, it makes the app drawer/homescreen scrolling a lot smoother.

Motorola Droid X :: Is Launcher Pro Plus Faster / Smoother Than ADW?

Oct 9, 2010

I've been using ADW because I like the easy cookie cutter themes but I notice it lags sometimes when switching between screens and sometimes icons and widgets will disappear then reappear as the screens load. I tried the free version of Launcher Pro and as I was setting up the screens it felt like it was smoother. But that could have been because I didn't have anything on them yet. I know most people here use Launcher Pro - is it because it is faster or smoother? I can almost get away with using the free version but I need to be able to resize widgets.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Phone Is Touchwiz Way Smoother Than Launcherpro?

Nov 11, 2010

Launcherpro Plus seems to be laggy at times especially when pressing the home button while you're in a program e.g. Angry Birds. With touchwiz, this lag is completely gone, making the experience much better. With Launcherpro Plus, I'd have to wait a couple of seconds for the home screen to pop up. Is this just my phone, or is the lag a price you have to pay for an awesome launcher?

Motorola Droid :: Droid X Boot Animation / Smoother Version

Jun 25, 2010

All credit for this animation release goes to Fab, I just made all the images about 20% smaller in file size (not dimensions). The best place in my opinion for boot animations is data/local. This allows you to keep your stock boot animation in place if you ever decide to delete this new one. The system looks here first anyway for the animation file, then in the system folder. Also if you flash a new rom, and don't wipe data, it should stay in place.

HTC Desire :: "All Programs List" Smoother?

Jun 1, 2010

This phone is so fast, especially on the home screens. It doesn't matter how many apps or widgets I put on the "desktop" it still scrolls smoothly. However, the same cannot be said for the "all programs" list. It is not laggy, but it could scroll more smoothly. It seems to start smoothly but as you scroll down it gets a little jerky. Anyone else notice this? Other menus seem very smooth in comparison.

Android :: Why IOS So Much Smoother Than Android?

Aug 10, 2010

I'm new here, and also new to the smartphone world. I've visited the site before, but just recently finally registered. I just got an EVO on contract. I really like it. It's not the best phone, but no phone is. Although the EVO is my first smartphone, I am not illiterate when it comes to tech. I consider myself pretty sound in the tech world amongst my peers. I would like to know one thing though, why does the iPhone have such better and smoother scolling/multitouch/pinch-to-zoom than Android phones do? I mean it is pretty obvious, and the scrolling on an iPhone is gorgeous. It follows the fingers so much quicker, does not lag behind the finger, and is just so snappy and quick and fluid. Is it the hardware or implementation of the software between the two operating systems? Is it because iOS supports only one device and is perfectly tweaked to fit that device whereas Android is ran on a plethora of devices/hardware/UIs? And will Android ever be this good? I thought that Froyo would fix this or at least be somewhat comparable to the iPhone, but it's not. And remember the iPhone has been this smooth since the first gens. You'd think Android phones would be up to par by now. I've never understood this and would really like to know why. I still love Android though, and even though the smoothness of the iPhone rocks, Android is still the better OS in my opinion overall. Oh yeah, I thought this was because the EVO has the stupid 30fps cap, but after using other Android phones, this is not true. Speaking of which, is HTC ever going to fix the cap and lift it? Sorry to get off topic.

Samsung Galaxy S :: Make Number Private When Make Calls?

Nov 10, 2010

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. Seems like a nice phone. Every phone I've had in the past (Nokia, Sony, etc...) has always allowed me to hide my number so that the call display on the receiver's phone shows my call as 'private'. This is useful for when you don't want certain people to have your number when you call. Is there a way to do this on the Galaxy S? I couldn't seem to find any setting how.

HTC EVO 4G :: Rooting After OTA Patch 1.47.651.1?

Jun 30, 2010

I just *finally* got my Evo in the mail yesterday. My mom opened it, got it ported and activated by the time I got home from work. She also updated it (as per suggestion from Sprint). I know Unprovoked doesn't work and I haven't seen anything yet that provides a soft root. My primary goal at the moment is being able to use Titanium Backup (paid for a license!). I will probably flash up to Fresh 0.5.3 after I can backup and root. Are there any solutions that work with the new update? Does the SimpleRoot 0.1 work?

HTC EVO 4G :: Rooting Without Custom Rom

Nov 22, 2010

Just got an EVO a week or so ago, am planning on rooting once unrEVOked is updated to work with 3.30. Here's the question: I'm primarily interested in rooting to be able to remove Sprint's bloatware, and maybe try out the tethering. If you have root access, can you just freely delete the programs you don't want or need to the same extent as if they were market apps, or do I need to install a custom ROM to get rid of the bloatware? Pardon what is probably a very simple question, but I've seen some conflicting info on this point, and wanted to be sure I know what I'm getting myself into.
