Games :: Gameloft Game Reviews
Jul 8, 2010Game loft recently (kind of) released ten (not counting Asphalt 5) high caliber games onto Android, ported form the iPhone versions. These game must be bought from Gameloft's website, where there are no free trials and no refunds. At first, some of the games weren't working right on certain phones. However, I messaged them about this, and they said they have fixed all of the games for all phones. I have been able to get nine of ten to work on my HTC Incredible (more on that later). Since there are no trials, and no refunds, I have decided to review all of the games to help future consumers out. While these versions are iPhone ports, they are still different and have their own sets of features (and glitches), so iPhone specific reviews won't do. These are all played on my Incredible, but I can confirm all (nine not eight) work on my dad's Droid too. Each game costs $5. Click on the games' names to go to the information and download pages.I want to make sure to fully play through a game before reviewing it. I will post reviews as I finish games. These aren't going to be super in depth reviews--just what you need to know. Note: I treat 5/10 as average, not 7/10 like most reviewers. However, these games are of such high quality, you are going to think I am treating 7/10 as average.

Nov 27, 2010For reasosns I can't figure out, some of the high end GL games aren't available for the Desire, even though it's a high end phone.I'm thinking of Modern Combat Sandstorm, NOVA, Assasins Creed.I know some people with the Desire have these, and I'd LOVE to know how they got them, as I cant even get ones acquired from less savoury sources to work.The way I see it, is they're all Android games, so if I was to purchase one for the Galexy S, would it still work on the Desire? Or is there something in the coding that makes them phone specific?

I had the vibrant with the powervr sgx540 and it wax nice but my wife took over that phone. I have the HTC G2 with the Andreno 205 which is a little slower than the 540 but still good but i want to know how well the droid x with the powervr sgx530 performs in realworld games. im thinking of returning the G2 and going for an X. i need some motivation!

May 9, 2010New to Android and starting to work on file mgmt. I set up some subfolders on my SD card for pictures. I have been moving pictures from one folder to another, but I can only move one at a time. Is there a way to select multiple picture files and move them to another folder (like "Select All" with Windows)? This is the sequence I've been following: Use the Edit Icon in the Astro taskbar, select Move, then going to the directory folder I want to move them, and hit Paste. Moving one file at a time is taking for ever.

Aug 19, 2010I was wondering if anyone was running any Gameloft games on their X? I downloaded Let's Golf and it works on the X fine, except there is no sound.I reinstalled twice and nothing. The sound worked once the first time I installed it in the intro, and then it stopped. Next time I reinstalled it, nothing, no sound. Media volume is up all the way and everything. Anyone have a problem like this?Or anyone have success with other Gameloft games on their X? Besides the sound issue, the game is very fun, and very smooth on the X.

Are they just in the process of being ported over? And I see other people talking about how awesome the games run on Their Droid X.

Nov 7, 2010I was just curious which Gameloft titles people own or have tried, and what their take on them is. I'd also like to know what devices you are running them on (although I guess your pot would indicate that under your name...) and what problems, if any, that you have encountered (bugs, force closes, etc.). I have the bought Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. and Dungeon Hunter, and here are my thoughts on them. Plane graphics are awesome, and the game play is pretty cool. Basically just a scaled down version of the PC/Console game. 13 missions give you a fair amount of gameplay and you can fly over 20 different planes and upgrade their weapon loads which is pretty cool. Gameloft LIVE and the achievement system make the game fun to play time and time again. I also like using the Accelerometer with this game too, and it works like a charm. I have not run into any bugs or anything of the sort with this game.Graphically the best RPG on the market (at least until Pocket Legends comes out, but even with that the two different styles will make them unique). Quite a few quests to do, hundreds of armor upgrades and ways to customize your characters. Gameplay is pretty smooth as well. The storyline and conversations get kind of cheesy at times, but overall a decent game. I encountered one part of the game causing a force close every time. At the end you defeat the last boss and there is a portal you are supposed to take after. This portal alone causes force closures every single time. Anyone have any of the other titles? How is the online multiplayer for those that have it (such as Modern Combat and NOVA)?

Nov 1, 2009I just upgraded from a five year old phone, so apologies in advance. The geeks at Best Buy set up my email for me which works fine (after multiple trips back to the store). Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). Do I have to set up some kind of email push program so that the email comes in from my computer (already filtered) instead of from the server? You can see my learning curve is steep.........

1. Nexus 7 with Google Contacts app
2. Non-android phone (Nokia N8 etc.) or really any dumb phone paired to Nexus 7 via bluetooth.
3. Select phone number from Contacts on Nexus 7 -> connected phone dials the number
4. Talk on phone.
As I have a very extensive and nicely organized list of contacts in my "People" app (Google Contacts) on the Nexus 7, I would just like to be able to select a number there and have the bluetooth-connected dumb phone place the call, so I just need to pick up the phone and talk, not dial the number manually on the phone.
Right now, when I select a number in the Contacts app on the Nexus 7, Skype - of all things - starts and wants to dial that number apparently. Instead of Skype, I want the number to be sent to the connected bluetooth phone. Surely that HAS to be possible somehow?
Even though this should only require a simple ATD command to be sent out via bluetooth and it's a functionality that every automobile bluetooth setup can do (dial from the steering wheel etc. -> connected phone places the call), I couldn't find one single, small app that does that.
In the PC world, this is sometimes known as CTI (computer telephony integration), basically you dial a number on your Windows PC (e.g. using on-board "dialer.exe" or using Outlook, and your phone places the call). So now I'm basically looking for a simple, one-way TTI (tablet telephone integration).
I did find Tablet Talk, which looks very nice, but this one needs a client software to be installed on the phone, which therefore has to be Android, so it's unusable for my case. I'm pretty much looking for a universal solution here, i.e. Android tablet to any dumb or smart bluetooth-enabled phone (or even another android for that matter), which, given that bluetooth is a universally specified protocol, shouldn't be much of a problem, in my limited understanding.
From my point of view, to problems or "routines" would have to be solved/written in an app that does this:
1.) Get the Google Contacts app ("People") on the android tablet to send numbers via bluetooth or to our "middleware app" (to be named) instead of sending those numbers to the Skype app (which might just be a quirky configuration on my Nexus 7, but it illustrates the use case).
2.) ATD command to phone via bluetooth, sent from the tablet

May 22, 2010I have a square grid, for a turn based game ( grid is similar to the chess board ), but the moves in the games are different based on whether you have lapped your opponent pawn at least once or not.i.e if you have not lapped (beaten any of the opponents pawns) in the outer most grid as below.if you have lapped your opponent pawn once at least, then you get to reach home,this way.Any player having all his pawns reaching "home" first wins.The ones in yellow are safe-houses, i.e both the opponent pawn and the player's pawn get to stay in the same grid, this is not considered to be lapping ( the opponent ).The lapped pawn will return to its start point.Now the question is, what is the effective way to store the paths for the all the pawns.we will have 4 pawns for the player and 4 opponent pawns.Is there any pattern to store such static information, in a elegant way?

Oct 11, 2010I just got a Captivate and upgraded to the leaked 2.2 update.Since I updated, gameloft apps(specifically Asphalt 5 HD) will no longer show up in the market.I have tried going to gameloft directly and even directly to the download page but it states that there is no such app.Again, I could find all gameloft apps before my update.I've also had other apps show up and when I click, the download page can't be found.is this because the apps are not compatible with 2.2?
