Im new here and i have some questions about my new phone, htc desire.How can acces my SD card?How can i choose where to store my apps, photos and videos? Any tricks so my battery last longer? Why does my battery lasts les than 1 day? Can it be because i have running apps that i cant see? How can i see running apps? tnx very much to all help!and i hope this thread helps other people to!

I have the latest Play-Store installed on my phone (which is a Sony Ericsson XPERIA x10) and although I have read in a bunch of forums that in the latest version you can go to "ALL" applications' section and delete the history of your downloaded applications by multi-selecting the desired apps (long press), it doesn't seem to be happening on mine.

I'm fairly new to the desire so an I missing something, why would anyone want to save to the phone or sim as provided in the options when you save a new contact. what would be the best way to backup your contact if you saved it via sim or phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an app of some sort that i can use to download maps onto my phone, to store on my sd card? i only use the Internet through wi-fi, and i have read on all the specs pages for the desire that it has an internal GPS chip.. so can i use it without the Internet? i know that Google maps wont work unless you have the internet on at all time, and i have searched through the app store for a map (of Australia, since that is where i live) but to no avail.

I have linked the facebook profile to my contact. I can choose "facebook" for the contact's photo, but I have no control over which photo is displayed.
Can I:
a) select a specific facebook foto?
b) save a specific facebook foto from the contact's facebook pictures and set the saved photo as the contact's picture?
so I was clearing up some room for a new app and went through managing apps and deleting some and clearing some caches. And now, I can't select any of the normal ringtones on the phone for my notification sounds. When I go Personalize > Default ringtone > select ringtone. It comes up saying 'Phone Ringtone' With options of OK and Cancel. It gives me no choice of any of the old normal tones the phone had before....what the hell is going on. Same for text noises btw.

However, it seems to me to be totally random whether long pressing a link brings up the context menu (which is what I usually want), or goes into text selection mode.
How do you control over which of these two actions occurs when long pressing a link?
I can't select 3rd party text entry types.
Go into Language & Keyboard - I see Big Buttons Keyboard, Swiftkey Beta and HTC_IME mod listed, all 3rd party keyboards I have installed.
I select one of them. It gives me a warning, I say OK, box is ticked. This keyboard is now selected.
I go to create a new SMS or enter something into the browser.
Stock HTC Keyboard.
I try again. Choose a different 3rd party keyboard. Stock HTC Keyboard.
Am I Just missing some essential stage in the process here, or is something messed up?
New to Android and starting to work on file mgmt. I set up some subfolders on my SD card for pictures. I have been moving pictures from one folder to another, but I can only move one at a time. Is there a way to select multiple picture files and move them to another folder (like "Select All" with Windows)? This is the sequence I've been following: Use the Edit Icon in the Astro taskbar, select Move, then going to the directory folder I want to move them, and hit Paste. Moving one file at a time is taking for ever.

I see that people here have walked out of mobile phone stores with some great bargains. I've been living off my wife's old contract phones for years and I always hated going into stores to look at phone as sales people always tried to sell me stuff I didn't want / need. I've now decided it's time to invest in a Desire with a contract (T-Mobile). Their �10 a month for 100 mins & txt (phone �164) is tempting but I probably prefer 600 mins & unlimited text for �21.35 (after redemption) from buymobilephones.net How's the best way to approach a sales person in a store bearing in mind that I'm a new customer? Are they fairly flexible when it comes to discussing contracts? I just fancy walking in and asking if they can match a certain contract deal on the internet!?

Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). Do I have to set up some kind of email push program so that the email comes in from my computer (already filtered) instead of from the server? You can see my learning curve is steep.........

1. Nexus 7 with Google Contacts app
2. Non-android phone (Nokia N8 etc.) or really any dumb phone paired to Nexus 7 via bluetooth.
3. Select phone number from Contacts on Nexus 7 -> connected phone dials the number
4. Talk on phone.
As I have a very extensive and nicely organized list of contacts in my "People" app (Google Contacts) on the Nexus 7, I would just like to be able to select a number there and have the bluetooth-connected dumb phone place the call, so I just need to pick up the phone and talk, not dial the number manually on the phone.
Right now, when I select a number in the Contacts app on the Nexus 7, Skype - of all things - starts and wants to dial that number apparently. Instead of Skype, I want the number to be sent to the connected bluetooth phone. Surely that HAS to be possible somehow?
Even though this should only require a simple ATD command to be sent out via bluetooth and it's a functionality that every automobile bluetooth setup can do (dial from the steering wheel etc. -> connected phone places the call), I couldn't find one single, small app that does that.
In the PC world, this is sometimes known as CTI (computer telephony integration), basically you dial a number on your Windows PC (e.g. using on-board "dialer.exe" or using Outlook, and your phone places the call). So now I'm basically looking for a simple, one-way TTI (tablet telephone integration).
I did find Tablet Talk, which looks very nice, but this one needs a client software to be installed on the phone, which therefore has to be Android, so it's unusable for my case. I'm pretty much looking for a universal solution here, i.e. Android tablet to any dumb or smart bluetooth-enabled phone (or even another android for that matter), which, given that bluetooth is a universally specified protocol, shouldn't be much of a problem, in my limited understanding.
From my point of view, to problems or "routines" would have to be solved/written in an app that does this:
1.) Get the Google Contacts app ("People") on the android tablet to send numbers via bluetooth or to our "middleware app" (to be named) instead of sending those numbers to the Skype app (which might just be a quirky configuration on my Nexus 7, but it illustrates the use case).
2.) ATD command to phone via bluetooth, sent from the tablet
Still waiting to get the desire..killer wait! (wanted the black one via orange but not happy with their loaded apps from what i've read)
anyway..just wondered if its possible to store media files securely in folders that i can keep separate/secure?

I have a question for those in the know. I am interested in purchasing an android-capable phone in the near future..I really like what it offers. My brother has a G1 (Mobile USA), which has piqued my interest in the Android platform. My question is: Is the app store synced with every kind of Android-capable phone, or just that specific phone? If I was to buy a HTC Magic, would it use the same app store as the G1? AFAIK, some other major platforms, such as Symbian do not sync, and it's 'every phone for itself', but I was thinking that Android was more synergic.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own HTC Desire (Bravo). I rooted my phone year ago or so, tried different ROMs etc. I dont remember when exactly, but my Google play store is loading pages really slow. I am not in US, I doubt its carrier based issue..
Currently I'm using CM..I think its 8 or 9, not sure of the version because recently my ROM manager app stopped working. (Will try to reinstall it when I get calm enough to open Google Play Store again )
On the startup it says CM 7 (mod) but I think it does so for all versions. I flashed CM using clockwork mod.
To solve issue I've tried clearing cash/data but it didn't work . Btw I use wi-fi mostly, but issue is the same whether I use mine or some other wi-fi.
Tonight I was setting another album to offline in Spotify when it reported I ccouldn't save any more music. Bit puzzled seeing as i've got a 16gb SD card in there. Turns out Spotify is only using the internal SD card :S totally burnt out my 8gb already! I see no option in Spotify to select where to place the offline store, anyone else in the ssame 8gb boat?

One thing I can't figure out is where dose the pictures get store to.(The Actual Directory) I did download ASTRO(Great Tool) but still am unable to hunt the actual store directory that the pics gets store to. View 49 Replies View RelatedIn my Android app, each activity is filled with data from an xml file which is somewhere on the web. The website providing these files has a login mechanism, that works with cookies.
I know how to make a HTTP Request to the login page and receive a cookie. What I don't know is, how I can store it to re-use it in both other activities AND when the app is started the next time. The cookie is valid for a year, so the user of my app should log in once and then never again for a whole year.
How do I do that? I googled a lot, but either I used the wrong keywords or there are no simple solutions on the internet.
