i was wondering, say i was to do a print at home ticket, could i just pull the bar code up on my phone for the gate person to scan? seems like the prefect way to buy last minute cheap tickets on stub hub.

My Tag Reader App scans bar code on printed material just fine. My Tag Reader will not scan the bar code on an LCD screen, laptop screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was messing with Scenes and Wallpapers and of course did not SAVE my personalized settings so now I'll have to recreate them. Now where was that stock EVO wallpaper with the Golden Gate Bridge? It wasn't a sample photo and definitely not stored on the SD card. Guess I'll have to take a can opener to the EVO's internal directory, look for the jpg and start plugging in widgets to a new but saved scene. Just playing with the EVO on a weekend.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI wrote an android application to request a scan for available WiFi signals around, using the WifiManager, then dump the results to a file. The program works fine, but this weird bug occurs. Initially I was requesting a scan every 30 seconds, and everything worked fine. I then tried to request a scan every two seconds, I get this strange bug. Everything will work fine for a few minutes, then the time between two scan requests jumps from 2 seconds to 50 seconds for no reason.
Then, for four more scans, it will scan at 2-second intervals, then skip to a 50-second interval, and it continues to do this consistently. With larger time intervals this bug does not appear. Has anyone experienced this bug before? Is there a way to prevent it? Or does Android automatically cancel scan requests if they are too frequent?
Is anyone aware of a wallet app that uses the phone's camera to scan cards for backup? i don't really relish the idea of manually entering all my card nos. and info when the camera scanner function works so well recognizing business cards.
you know, I'd like to slap my credit card on the table, open the app and scan the card. the app should recognize the cc logo (mc, visa, discover, etc), card no., exp. date and prompt me for the verification no. on the back.
the app should be able to recognize most of the card types that people typically keep in the wallets: drivers license, library card, health ins, auto ins., loyalty cards. for those that it doesn't recognize by scan, the user should be able to select from a list or enter a "custom" type.
i haven't found anything like this. does one exist?
I have several contacts in my phone where I have multiple phone numbers but the location does not always match up with Google choices (MOBILE, WORK, HOME etc) Or in the case of a store like Costco, a different number for each department - Main, Pizza, Pharmacy etc. On my Palm I just used to put initials next to the number to remind me which was which, but that does not work on the Droid - it would not call the number with extra letters. Other than putting the information in my notes, has anyone found a work around? Ideally, I would like to change the words, WORK, HOME, MOBILE, etc to better reflect the ownership and location of that particular number. But that seems highly unlikely since it's connected to Google Contacts. Just wondering how others handle multiple numbers besides a totally different entry, or by adding the info in notes.

The person would be close by, basically face to face.
In a perfect world I would like the process of file transfer to be less than 3 steps but I think that would be too much to ask for.
I am trying to figure out ways to do it but I keep coming up with blanks for every way I was thinking.
1. Bluetooth (Easier to code, more steps for the user)
2. NFC (How to implement and test)
3. Wifi Direct (Still has steps but less than Bluetooth, just learned about it today so I am new to it)
4. Connect to a Server (Make a server and connect devices)
5. HTTP (Make a temporary server on your phone?)
I removed the pull tab sticker off the back of my Droid X. Does this in ANY way hurt the phone????
I read that they will replace the phone under warranty.... I still have the pull tab and put it back in, is it worth risking getting a refurbished phone?
So I'm relatively new to Android, and I need to know how to get photos off of my phone and onto iPhoto (a Mac)? I've got a Sprint Hero.
When I connect a typical digital camera to my Mac, it automatically pulls up iPhoto, shows the photos on the camera and it's simple to import. However, when I connect my Hero to my Mac, that doesn't happen. Do I have to do something on my phone to get it to pull up iPhoto?
Does anyone know how to stop the phone from doing that little vibration when you make a call and the other person picks up. I have looked through my call setting but cant work it out. I keep thinking I am getting a text or something.

So none of them sync to my gmail account. Is there anyway to easily change the designation so they sync instead of having to reenter them individually?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes, after manually locking the phone, I'll try to unlock the phone but the "swipe" bar no longer shows up. It's almost comical when this happens, as I can get phone calls, emails, texts etc during those times (I can even pick up/reply), but the phone goes immediately to that "swipe less" lock screen right afterward. There is no way for me to unlock the phone (even a long press on the lock button doesn't work), so I have to take off the case and do a battery pull to reset. Has any experienced this and does anyone have any fixes for it?

View 3 Replies View Relateda week ago i bought new phone. Huawei Ascend G300. Everything was fine for a week but yesterday suddenly the phone freeze and i had to pull out the battery. After switching the phone on a screen for factory reset appears. Four lines of errors come up and the phone self formated itself. (error reading data, reading cache etc..). So i set it up again but it happens again today...First it was while i play modern combat 2. Second time when i was just scrolling thorough screens. (already formated SD card and phone manualy - will see what happens). Anyway heres hprof error file which was generates after the crash and self format.

When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
Some custom ROMs have different ringtones. I have a "Ringtones" folder on my SD with my own, but the ROMs carry theirs internally and once you change ROMs, so do the ringtones. I haven't looked yet, but would they possibly be in the ROM zip file and could I just pull them out of the zip to my computer? I guess I will look now, but let me know if this is the right way or if something else works better. Ultimately I would like to pull off all system ringtones so I can condense to my own and ones I have selected. It's overwhelming sometimes given that I don't and won't ever use 70% of the stock tones.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning a Bell Galaxy-S with 2.1 and the OCLF. Recently when I lock my phone or it just goes to sleep (screen shuts off) I can't unlock it. The screen just stays blank and it requires me to pull the battery and replace to boot it back up. There doesn't appear to be any consistency with this error and I haven't installed any new apps in recent time that would have changed the phone around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAre any of you having trouble with this? The sensor doesn't seem to be working the way it should. I have a problem accessing the keyboard during calls to automated services and sometimes the screen won't stay lit long enough for me to end my calls.
Aside from that, my Droid keeps freezing up today. I haven't had any trouble with that before. I've got a week to go before I pass my 30 day trial. I'm not sure what to do. This phone has to be mailed in as I got it online. If there's a way to fix these problems, I'd rather not send it in and wait 3 weeks to receive a new one.
Anyone else having problems with their contacts loading slowly? I am running fresh 2.3.3. If I understand it correctly, each time you select a contact, it actually 'downloads' the data from the 'google cloud'? Is there anyway to speed this up or just load the contacts on the SD card and it can more quickly pull it from the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone was almost dead today so I just turned it off. When I got home and plugged it in and turned it back on I didn't have any service. It says no service. I have turned it on and off several times and have taken the battery out and put it back several times and nothing works. I have only had the phone for approximately 3 days. Anything I can do to fix it myself? I can't even pull up the phone pad or certain settings because I get an error message. I called technical support but because I can't get to the phone pad they can't help me.

Can't find this via a search, but am looking for opinions on any apps that will use the camera to get and image, and then create a pdf. I am not looking to do this on pictures, but rather on pages of text. I guess I can always just email a photo, but would rather it be a pdf.
I looked in the market, and found a few, all cost $, so I am writing to see if anyone will post their experience with any of these prior to me shelling out the bucks.
I turn the 4g on and it immediately shuts off when it says scanning. It only rarely actually works and this has only been happening the past month or so. I just rooted it with unrevoked3 last week though. the problem has been before that. I do now have wireless tether installed but I don't have it active when I try to update. I've tried it with Wireless tether On and Off, with Mobile Connection On and Off, with Sprint Hotspot On and Off, nothing makes a difference. I've rebooted numerous times. The past few days I've been using Advanced Task Killer to kill apps every 30 minutes in aggressive which gives me crazy good battery life even with syncing and fairly bright light and normal usage. Like three days with only two spots of 30 minute charging. It also charges much faster though.
I don't know why it works sometimes. I can't find anything linking the working moments. I'm in a fairly good 4G area when it works, I get around 1.3 megabytes coming down at the peak. Is there anything I can do? Is anyone else experiencing this? I would think that if it actually scanned, it would take longer than an eighth of a second to do so.
