Because of that extra charge, I find myself intentionally using Sprint's data network to stream / download music instead of using available wifi just so I can use up Sprint's bandwidth. I didn't do this when I had my Pre.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have the newest firmware and everything is fine and i did read the "how to's" before posting this. i'm on sprint and i've got unlimited everything. i tried the "internet sharing" thing when i plugged it in to my computer (all htc sync software and drivers installed) and i kept getting a data call failure so i thought sprint disabled that feature. i was messing with the wifi on my phone and i connected to my router, then when i plugged it in i tried the "internet sharing" option again this time it worked. but, as in the "how to" it doesn't have the little 3g symbol beside the clock. all it has it the wifi symbol. so, is my pc connected to the internet via my phones internet or my home internet?

I figured that since it can read my WiFi easier, it might use less power, then again it is a function on the phone that needs to be launched and therefore might be draining more.
I love my aria, i got it 9/29/10, for free from best buy because my contract expired... but ive already used 20MB and i only bought a 200MB plan... i might go to 2 gigs, but for an alternate, since my billing cycle ends the 28th of every month... if i disable application syncing, and mobile network from the hold menu... can i connect to my home wifi network, and go on the internet from there without that using any of my data plan?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI had been using Fresh Rom 2.0d by flipz since last night, and got everything setup, last night I had trouble updating the Profile and PRL so this morning I tried it again and succeeded the PRL update, unfortunately right after the PRL update the Sprint Network never came back. I can ROAM when I switch off Sprint Only but no Sprint Network.What can I do to resolve the issue? Tried resetting the phone to no help, pulled the battery and reset, also attempted to update PRL and Profile again but without Service it won't do either.

Is there another way to connect to this connection?

He received it today.He had an Evo before the epic and never had this issue. the issue he's having is, obviously he doesn't pick up sprint service out in iraq, but with his evo he was able to pick up wifi and connect to google talk, qik, etc.his epic is allowing him to connect to a wifi signal, but it won't allow him to connect to google talk, qik, etc. it keeps saying "can't connect to server". like i said, he never had this issue with the evo.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my desire for around a month now & had no real problems with it, flashed it with a stock ROM initially & then rooted it a couple of days after the root was released. When I woke up this morning I was connected to my WiFi network but when I tried to load a webpage, nothing happens, it comes up with the stock 'Web page not available' page. I tried a couple of web pages but got the same response, I thought it might be my WiFi network but when I got to work, exactly the same thing happens. I can connect via GPRS when I disable the WiFi with no problem. I've been using Y5 Battery Saver for the past two weeks, not sure if that's relevant. Is this a standard error / known bug, how would I go about fixing this, not having WiFi is obviously a bit of pain!
OK, installed a Terminal emulator over 3G & ran a couple of commands, including dmesg. From the output of dmesg it looks like the WiFi connects but then something goes wrong, here's a brief transcript:

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is my first Android phone so I might just not know what I am doing. At work we have an open wi-fi network for patients and visitors to connect to. When they connect for the first time they are automatically re-directed to a sign on page where they must provide their e-mail address. After that they are free to use wireless internet services. My EVO will not re-direct to the page. When I tried it on a friends iPhone it worked just fine. My phone has not been rooted and i have tried both the default browser and two that I downloaded from the market. The phone is connecting to the WiFi and getting a strong signal.

When I turn on the WiFi on my hero it will not show the SSID name of my network. The odd thing is that when I use WiFi scanner (nice program) it shows my WiFi network SSID, but I cannot connect to my WiFi using that program.

It works with everything else except the eris. my xbox 360, nintendo wii, macbook pro, and multiple windows computers all work fine. My itouch connects to it nd so do all my other friend's android phones. I know my wifi on my phone works because I can use it on any other network. It seems to me that the wifi driver (do phones have drivers) needs to be updated. Is this possible?

View 48 Replies View RelatedThe wifi worked fine until I disconnected for the first time. Since then the phone never wanted to reconnect to our private network no matter what I tried. I tried switching the wifi off and back on again. Tried switching the phone on and off again multiple times. I even tried to use a static IP address but that also didn't seem to work. I also tried switching the 'Wi-Fi optimisation' off as well as setting the 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' to 'Always'.
With one of my previous phone (HTC Wildfire) I've experienced the infamous wifi-loop many times (Connecting, Fetching Ip, Connected, Disconnected, Connecting...). But I never experienced that on my Xperia S(Android 4.1) (although I have experienced different wifi problems on it (i.e., IP clashes, etc.)).
The problem is NOT at the modem (I've tried reseting it MANY time and it still doesn't solve my solution. My laptop is successfully connected to our wifi. And I even tried switch the laptop off). The phone itself is not connecting AT ALL to the wifi. It is however connecting to my mobile network.
I have the Galaxy S3 mini. I keep getting the notification to "Sign into Wi-Fi network"..Sometimes my phone is connected to wifi and other times it is on 4G.
I know this is a phone issue and not a network issue because it happens to me when I am at home and at work, I connect the the wireless router in both places.
I select it and it brings me to the web.how to stop getting this notification.
