My wife and I got our Incredible yesterday and applied the Phantom Skinz...However, there are fingerprints on the sticky side of the protector that are now very visible. We made sure our hands were clean, and kept our fingers wet while applying...Anyone offer any advice or tricks to get this perfect?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince there appears to be no refund option once you attempt to install the Phantom Skinz, I'm going to install the second set just for the fun of it, I guess. I've used this brand in the past for all my Blackberries, and they were always great. But this time the fit was not perfect. And I'm a little ocd about that kind of thing.I wish they refunded, since they were the most expensive option. I'm going to try out the next group, I guess.One suggestion to those who go with Phantom Skinz. I would leave the back off. It doesn't look great, and soon you will be able to replace the back of the phone for about the same price as a new skin.

I contacted Phantom Skinz customer support and this seems to have no effect on the actual phone. May not be interesting to some but to some of the ladies who wanna add a little glam to a seemingly masculine phone this seems to be a viable option. Update: I have finished my case. View 20 Replies View RelatedI just applied the phantom skinz to my phone and stupidly I applied it to my phone and it was all good but left a smudge so while battery and phone on, I reapplied the screen protector without realizing the phone was still on... now it seems like there was too much water and the screen is distorted. Anyone know if I really messed up my phone or is it possible that its just water that needs to evaporate or do I need to go to radio shack and get a replace (if possible)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn another thread here, I made an offer to compare two brands of screen protectors: One from clearfreak.com, (abbreviated CF here) and the other from phantomskinz.com (abbreviated PS here). PhantomSkinz Guru took me up on the offer, and I was finally able to conduct the comparison today. I'm a mechanical engineering major in college, so I hope that in terms of technical and physical specs I will do this justice, but my grammar and punctuation might not be top-notch like pro reviewers. Also, I'm not being paid by either party for this (yet? j/k). I apologize in advance for any tendency to wander. So, here we go. (if you have a question/comment I will answer if I can or add it to OP) On the websites: CF offers either the screen protector alone, or a screen + back protector. Each is one piece. Price at the time of review was $6 for the front, $12 for front + back. Looks simple enough.
PS offers either the screen protector alone ($9.95), or a full body kit ($24.95), which not only includes the rear of the phone, but the sides as well. The full body kit comes as several pieces that must be applied individually. They were having a "winter special" at the time of this review, and so you get two of whatever you ordered... a great deal if you should mess up the application process, or are rough with your phone.................
I have an extra Zagg and an extra PS that I'm thinking about cutting and sizing to fit the camera lens. I'm opposed to using any kind of cover, but these leaves the camera cover exposed. The only potential problem I see is my photo shots coming out blurry, and I'll most likely use the PS as it is a little bit more transparent than the Zagg.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried installing the Phantom Skinz I received yesterday and I couldn't for the life of me get the smaller pieces for the sides of the phone (only tried the sides on the top half of the phone) to stick. They would just slide right off and would not adhere to the phone. It was especially bad around the corners. I have installed many of these (multiple phones, macbook, ipods, etc...) and I have never had this much trouble installing one. Any suggestions from you guys who have installed one of these on the Droid? What should I mix the water with to get the best stick? I tried a drop of dish soap and that obviously didn't work. I did get the one on the screen fine (however there are some bubbles that still haven't went away after 24 hours !)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI put a Zagg Invisible shield on but did not like the super glossy orange peel look so I removed it. I checked out the steinheils website and some youtube vids and they look really nice. Is the only difference between the steinheil crystal and the anti-fingerprint the finish? I'm not too sure I'd like the matte finish as I would think it would slightly dull the brightness of the display. I've also seen the Phantom skinz and the orange peel effect seems to be a bit better than on the Zagg. Anyone with experience using both Zagg and Phantom SKinz products how do they compare? Does either of the two have a definitive advantage over the other in terms of appearance and feel of the coating while sliding your finger over it.

I'll sell it for $10, shipped.I will say that I really liked the Phantom Skinz on my Eris. The only thing that I didn't like was it eliminated the "soft touch" feel on the back. Other than that, no bubbling, very smooth, did not interfere with the screen and great self-healing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I chose to get a Phantom Skinz after reading the reviews. My older Droid was having major reboot issues, so I just exchanged it 3 days ago. Once I determined this new Droid had no glaring issues, it was off to install my phantom...Took 1.5 hours. Wasn't thrilled at the way the corners worked, but it was doable. HOWEVER, when I went to take the dog out and bent over to pick up a ball to throw for him, the once-sticky droid (now slick with the full body skinz), slipped right out of my hoodie pocket. OF COURSE the only place that was scratched was the 1mm of bezel that is not covered by the strangely-engineered top/corner cover. Kinda ticked that I wasted, 1.5 hours, only to make my phone slick enough to fall and have it scratched where the "full body" cover didn't cover.

Has anyone ever felt their phone vibrate in their pocket only to power on the screen to find out it didnt really go off (phantom vibration). Well for me, its now the LEDs. For most of the day, the droid sits on my desk and i'll look at it every now and again to see if the light is blinking to see if i have an unread message. Every now and again i'll see it blink when there are no new notifications, and its making me feel crazy. anyone else get this at all?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMine just started registering phantom screen touches a little while ago.It seems to think there is either and up-swipe or some kind of touch near the top of the screen randomly. For example, an email or list will constantly be scrolling up or if I leave it on a screen with Power Panel on it, one of the icons will randomly highlight orange. The page with the google search widget will have the search field highlight orange on it's own too. When entering text, the cursor will randomly jump back to the beginning.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've read another related thread with a similar issue but it died down and I'm surprised this hasn't turned into a bigger deal. My Incredible has been chronically swiping to the left I'd say 95% of the time I use it. It is almost definitely the track pad. Nothing is actually being tapped, just swiped. This sucks when it moves on its own to the far left screen, but it is insanely annoying when typing a text message/email and the cursor just races to the left of the message. Ah! I have tried pulling the battery, swabbing the track pad with alcohol, fully draining and charging the battery, but to no luck. The only way to make it stop is to press the track pad, and even then, sometimes it doesn't stop or just starts 10 seconds later. I really DO NOT want to return my current Incredible for a new one because then I'll be stuck with the newer (and cheaper/crappier) screens that are being shipped now. I love the contrast and vibrancy of the screen and don't want to be downgraded! Has anyone found a fix for this? I hope, but doubt the upcoming OTA will help. I know this isn't an isolated issue as a couple of my friends with the INC are experiencing the same issue.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was installing some apps from the market last night and all was going well until one application got stuck. The Market shows it as installing but nothing is happening. The Market still seems to function to load other apps but I have tried pulling the battery, cleaning the cache etc and no matter what I do when I go back to the downloads page the install on this app is still in progress. The Captivate is not rooted and I am not really keen on a hard reset as I have lots of apps and data. Any ideas from you pros out there?

Since my upgrade to round #2 of the 2.1 leak, (which I love) I am always finding out that I have anywhere from 9 - 13 apps running out of the blue. I use ATK to kill them, but even when not opening apps, when I kill, there will be so many that were running. Question is, does anyone else have this problem, and what do I need to do to keep them from starting by themselves? Very frustrating when the phone lags because of this. Besides that, it kills the battery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Galaxy S through Bell in Canada a few days ago and it's been great, except for an issue that started just this morning. The phone keeps bringing up the context menu at random when I have not hit the key to do so. Sometimes I can use it for ten minutes without an issue, other times it will flip on/off repeatedly ever few seconds for a 15 second period or so. This is definitely not an issue of me pressing the key by mistake; I can lay the phone on the table and it will trigger the key on/off on its own.
I've tried:
- Cleaning the screen several times
- Rebooting
- Deleting pretty much every app I downloaded
- Total factory reset (from the boot menu)
After the factory reset the problem still exists, which leads me to believe it may be a hardware issue. I haven't seen any other posts regarding this issue, has anyone seen something like this before?
I have 5 email accounts coming to my phone. Sometimes, after receiving an email from one account I'll get a notification of new mail from that same account a few minutes later, but I won't actually have any new mail. It's getting kind of annoying. Is there any fix for that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, and only on my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop, the Android emulator keeps thinking I have the = key pressed and continually emits a string of "=====" equal signs. This happens no matter what I'm doing in the emulator. It responds to my manual keypresses as well, interspersing them. It happens no matter which version of the Android system I run (2.1, 2.2, etc.) Strangely, it happens even running the Android emulator via a remote desktop session where the remote desktop client is the laptop and the server is another PC running the emulator. If I run the emulator on the other PC locally (not remote desktop,) the emulator functions fine!
This problem didn't occur when I first installed the SDK and as far as I know no other software has been installed since then. I tried clicking the "clear user data" from the emulator launcher and still no effect. I have also tried deleting the SDK directory and reinstalling it, but the effect is still there.
Update: I found another application that exhibits this behavior. ScummVM when opening a dialog to save the game also receives these phantom keypresses. It persists in Windows 7.
I am still experiencing phantom swipes (only to the left) on my Incredible. Putting a piece of duck tape over the optical track pad seems to resolve it. This has been ongoing for about a month and a half. I have a warantee but really don't want to wait for my new phone/get one of the newer LCD phones. I have been able to recreate the phantom swipe by moving the phone under different light sources. This is so annoying.
I have tried everything, there isn't dust on my track pad and its not a matter of grounding. I really hope this is not a hardware issue. I got my Inc by pre-order (original with AMOLED). I have been able to toy with some of the newer Inc builds (with the LCD screen). I have noticed the trackpad is more flush with the unit, this leads me to believe they reworked the hardware to fix an issue. Anyone else with the original AMOLED Inc builds experiencing this?
