I have 5 email accounts coming to my phone. Sometimes, after receiving an email from one account I'll get a notification of new mail from that same account a few minutes later, but I won't actually have any new mail. It's getting kind of annoying. Is there any fix for that?

I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

Has anyone ever felt their phone vibrate in their pocket only to power on the screen to find out it didnt really go off (phantom vibration). Well for me, its now the LEDs. For most of the day, the droid sits on my desk and i'll look at it every now and again to see if the light is blinking to see if i have an unread message. Every now and again i'll see it blink when there are no new notifications, and its making me feel crazy. anyone else get this at all?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI believe the stock email app (not the gmail app) that comes with the Vibrant has somehow been corrupted on my phone.
I noticed that the email app was acting strange, then a few days later, I would find my phone very hot and nearly drained of all battery (this happened about 3 times). I turned off push for my three accounts (set them to "Never"), and I haven't had the overheating problem since. That being said, nearly every time I use the email app, I have to force quit it.
I have Samsung Galaxy S handset since last two week. Earlier I have Nokia E63. I am new for android based phone. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find an email app to meet my VERY simple requirements. So far I have found email on Androids to be awful and I mean awful. I am coming from a Blackberry and can't believe how truly terrible the email apps (or should I say header readers) are on Android.
No, I am not bashing Android. I love Android and EVERYTHING else on an Android is FAR better than my Blackberry.
Anyway, most the email apps (including k9 and maildroid) on Android are not email apps at all but email header readers that don't download a copy of the email to your phone, instead just showing you a list of email headers that when you click on them THEN downloads the email. This is horribly inefficient.
So my very simple needs are this:
1. an app that downloads a copy of the entire emails so that it is available as soon as you click on it in the inbox.
2. the ability to edit replies.
The native email on the Vibrant seems to do the first since once it shows the email in the inbox it is instantly available when you click on it.
BUT, there appears to be no way to edit replies. You can't get the cursor in the quoted text or get the keyboard to appear so as far as I can tell you can edit replies.
Has anyone found a way to edit replies on the Vibrant? Of course, the Gmail app has the same glaring problem.
The vibrant comes with two stock email programs. Please save me some time with my new phone, which is better? what are the differences? is there a better email app?

Is there some way to prevent it from syncing email? I only want the calendar to sync, but I can't find an option to disable email syncing. Any apps that can accomplish this?
Constantly syncing email all day is really draining on my battery.
Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the battery to do a reset last night after a lockup and today I'm getting notifications everytime I get a new email. it never used to do this and i figured it was just cause I didn't use the gmail. now I'm thinking that it just might be one of the background tasks that I was always killing. I recently switched to home++ and I didn't use the built in task killer all day. so I guess my question is, does anyone know which background task would control this so I don't kill it? also, is there a place to go in the settings to change the led color for email alerts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was installing some apps from the market last night and all was going well until one application got stuck. The Market shows it as installing but nothing is happening. The Market still seems to function to load other apps but I have tried pulling the battery, cleaning the cache etc and no matter what I do when I go back to the downloads page the install on this app is still in progress. The Captivate is not rooted and I am not really keen on a hard reset as I have lots of apps and data. Any ideas from you pros out there?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Galaxy S through Bell in Canada a few days ago and it's been great, except for an issue that started just this morning. The phone keeps bringing up the context menu at random when I have not hit the key to do so. Sometimes I can use it for ten minutes without an issue, other times it will flip on/off repeatedly ever few seconds for a 15 second period or so. This is definitely not an issue of me pressing the key by mistake; I can lay the phone on the table and it will trigger the key on/off on its own.
I've tried:
- Cleaning the screen several times
- Rebooting
- Deleting pretty much every app I downloaded
- Total factory reset (from the boot menu)
After the factory reset the problem still exists, which leads me to believe it may be a hardware issue. I haven't seen any other posts regarding this issue, has anyone seen something like this before?
In another thread here, I made an offer to compare two brands of screen protectors: One from clearfreak.com, (abbreviated CF here) and the other from phantomskinz.com (abbreviated PS here). PhantomSkinz Guru took me up on the offer, and I was finally able to conduct the comparison today. I'm a mechanical engineering major in college, so I hope that in terms of technical and physical specs I will do this justice, but my grammar and punctuation might not be top-notch like pro reviewers. Also, I'm not being paid by either party for this (yet? j/k). I apologize in advance for any tendency to wander. So, here we go. Price at the time of review was $6 for the front, $12 for front + back. Looks simple enough.
PS offers either the screen protector alone ($9.95), or a full body kit ($24.95), which not only includes the rear of the phone, but the sides as well. The full body kit comes as several pieces that must be applied individually. They were having a "winter special" at the time of this review, and so you get two of whatever you ordered... a great deal if you should mess up the application process, or are rough with your phone.................
Has anyone tried this for the Captivate yet? I ordered the Zagg full body for 50% and immediately heard about these. Anyone have experience with these or already have it on? Thanks.

1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
I've searched for other threads but although somewhat similar they are not experiencing the same problems. Ok according to att's time logs of the phantom data usage times, it is exactly the moment i leave my wifi home signal and the phone switches to 3g. At that time a download ranging from 44mb to as big as 120 mb is added to my data plan. But i'm not using the phone. I have not downloaded any new apps, using my phone, or didn't anything different out of the ordinary. I have done one thing recently, that are not my usual. I rooted my phone with one click lag fix, the same day all the data was being done was being phantomly downloaded i updated one click lag fix or 3g. Now ever since then my phone uses data when i leave my wifi home service.I'M ALREADY OVER 247MB OVER 2GB'S

Asphalt HD from Gameloft. I really love this racing game. Its on par with racing games made for the psp. I hope they release an expansion pack with more cars/tracks/events. N.O.V.A from Gameloft. A pretty good fps. It kinda reminds me of halo. I wish there was more weapons and enemies/bosses. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft. A standard rpg. Im playing this right now. my thoughts so far is that its a pretty good rpg for a phone but pales in comparison to handheld console rpgs. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Hero of Sparta from gameloft. its a hack n slash game. this is the only game from the gameloft hd series that I didnt like so far. I havent tried the other 5 HD games from gameloft but I plan on doing so.

I was really hoping to save 55% off the cost of the Tmobile Gel Case but alas it was not to be. When my wife saw the case installed on the phone she said "what the heck?" That's because the case fits the Vibrant unevenly. And it doesn't wrap around the bezel fully.
Here is my review:
The Amzer "Silicone Skin Case" is completely unacceptable to me in terms of fit, feel and function. The Vibrant is a top of the line, expensive and amazing device deserving of quality accessories. This case is basically junk and not commensurate with the quality or value of the Vibrant.
First the fit: It slides onto the Vibrant easily enough (too easily in fact - it feels like it might fall off) and the cutouts are all lined up with the camera, USB, etc. However, the case barely fits around the bezel and it fits the face of the phone unevenly so you can see the bezel on one side but not the other side. The last point about the fit is that the phone feels like it could pop out of the case if you squeezed the sides; this is a very unsettling feeling. A case should make you feel more secure not less and it shouldn't detract from the quality appearance of this device.
Second, the feel: The case feels much too thin along the sides, the corners feel nice and thick as they should be to protect the phone. The sides however offer little in the way of protection. It just feels cheap and not nearly thick enough to offer much protection.
Third, the function: I bought a case to protect the phone from damage in the event it is dropped. I want protection around the bezel and the sides and back of the phone. The Amzer case only seems to protect the Vibrant on the corners where this case is thicker. I feel like if I dropped the phone and it landed on the side there would be little to prevent the phone from being damaged.
Needless to say I was disappointed when I tried the Amzer on my Vibrant this afternoon. So much so that I immediately called Amazon to arrange for its return. I have the Gel Case from Tmobile which by comparison is vastly superior although 55% more in price.
In this case you get what you pay for. And I do not want to skimp on protection a device as valuable as the Vibrant. Let's see, save $6 on a case for a $500 phone? No way, not when it's ugly when installed, feels cheap and insecure in the hand, and offers less protection. The Tmobile case fits snugly, wraps evenly around the bezel, is thicker to better protect the phone in the event of an impact.
I give this case 1 out 5 stars. The Tmobile Gel Case gets 4.5 stars.

Someone confirmed it there. This would make this the only other Tmobile branded android phone to work with the cheap data plan other than the Behold 2.
For how long who knows, the behold 2 has been going on for years, but tmo, nor anyone really cared about that phone
