HTC EVO 4G :: "Unable To Retrieve Account Information" Error

When I try to upload a video to youtube I get the same error every time, "unable to retrieve account information" I am logged in on my phone and i get all the way to the point where I'm ready to hit upload, but when I hit it, it IMMEDIATELY says "unable to retrieve account information". Any ideas, tips? I've also tried going through QIK, but it doesn't seem to be working either, it won't let me even select Youtube because it doesn't think I've set up the sharing for it, but I have.

For retrieving the accounts (information) in Android versions since 2.0 you can use the Account Manager that has been introduced in Android 2.0. But now I have the problem I want to maintain compatibility with atleast Android 1.6, is there any way to retrieve account information in Android 1.6?

My program is targeting Android 1.5. I would like to retrieve system information about the device itself. I have found very few helpful classes by searching the APIs. the best I've found so far is the Runtime class and a few Build.* system properties.
I would like to be able to get information like the total amount of memory on the device, the amount of free memory (which I do not know if the Runtime class is actually giving me, since it specifically refers to memory available to the JVM) along with information about the processor.
Is this information available, and if so, where can I find it?

I've an issue related to the application uninstall. Actually when my application is removed, all the related accounts are removed, and consequently all the account contacts disappear from the device. I was wondering if there is a way to keep the accounts information or eventually to be notified when the application is being uninstalled, in order to allow the application to advice the user.

I am new to android and I recently got the incredible, love it! But when i set up yahoo mail (which went smoothly) it only brought up the last two days worth of emails from my yahoo account. Anyone know a way to retrieve all of my emails through my yahoo acct or is there a trick to it. Not a huge deal as I will prob move everything to gmail eventually anyway but would like to be able to access emails from months ago.

I got my HTC Desire a few days ago, and as I needed a Google account for the Market I rememberd one I had created/palyed around with some months ago. The credentials were stored in my KeePass file, but the password was like 20 random letters and numbers. So I changed it to something typeable and entered it in my phone. Needles to say I forgot to change it in keepass and now I can't remember it.
Is there any practicable way to show the password stored in my device?

The email account that I use on a regular basis is the email account that my high school set up for me. It is not an account that is organized with a bigger company such as google, yahoo, hotmail, etc. When I tried to set up my email account on my Droid ally, it asks me for a lot of detailed information about my server and then said it could not connect. I used to have a Blackberry Tour and it did not require any information other than username and password to set up an email account so I know my school does not have any restrictions on this type of thing.
Does anyone know what I should do? The Verizon store had no idea.

I'm new on here although have been lurking for a while trying to suss out my hero.I need help setting up my orange email account on the phone, I've tried searching the forum without success, point in the right direction if you can.anyway when I try to set it up the phone responds with 'cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding'This is driving me mental. Please be gentle as I'm not the most technically savvy with these things.

I've had a problem with my Google Calendars displaying correctly, so I went into all the Calendar settings, and cleared the data, in a hope of syncing them from scratch. However..... Now I am unable to retrieve the calendars from Google. The only ones that show up in the Calendar list are: -

Exchange
Facebook
PC Sync
Default.
Any idea how I can get my 3 Google Calendars back on my Desire?

Got my desire yesterday, having defected from Windows Mobile and spent all yesterday and today getting very frustrated! I successfully set up my various email accounts - except one which requires a SSL outgoing SMTP server on port 465. When I put the correct settings into the setup wizard it simply fails to complete the account setup. If I change any of the fields to an incorrect parameter, it gives an error but at least lets me save the settings and exit the wizard.
With the correct settings in place - it communicates with the server stating: "Verifying account information" and then promptly does nothing (it doesn't hang up, it just returns to the SMTP screen). The only way I can get out of the wizard is to enter an incorrect setting. This means that whilst receiving emails on this account is no problem, I am unable to reply to them or send any emails from this account. I know there is nothing wrong with my ISP (T-mobile uk) because I am using the same SIM from my Touch-pro where this account worked fine for the previous 18 months.

How should I move 10 years of calendar information to my Google Gmail account? Currently using Outlook 2003, HTC Incredible (no calendar info yet); old phone was Palm Centro. Ready to take the plunge but do I move all calendar data at once? Someone mentioned copying everything until this year and placing it in an archive calendar? Have no idea how to do this. And I want/need to be able to see (and search) on all my old data.

Checked the recommended threads when I started to post this, didn't see anything similar...
My Facebook app on my HTC Evo was working fine until about a week ago, when suddenly I started getting this error message:
"Cannot retrieve the notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser Error: Unexpected "-" at position 64.]"
Any suggestions for a fix? I've tried logging out and back in, and I can't figure out how to reinstall the app (uninstall option isn't available on the app settings screen).

Ive been trying to retrieve the current network type, but no success when i say network type: i refer to know this info:
if the type is: NETWORK_TYPE_IDEN or NETWORK_TYPE_UMTS.. and so on. i tried to use: NetworkInfo activeNetInfo = connectivityManager.getActiveNetworkInfo();NetworkInfo bonneting = connectivity Manager.getNetworkInfo i am doing this coz i wanna know if the current network is IDEN, or if the current network is connected through wifi any other suggestions will be welcome.

I've already got a facebook account and use it regularly. I can't seem to register the account information on the X10 but I can access my account through the facebook app itself. I've updated the app from the android market and still doesn't allow me to register my account. I keep getting the message "connection failed".

I got my HTC Droid Incredible back in July, and it worked amazingly for the last couple of months. All my apps have been running smoothly until recently, when Facebook started giving me problems. Now I don't know if this is a server thing, facebook itself, or a glitch in my phone, but I keep getting error messages.
When I refresh my notifications I get:
Cannot retrieve notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser error: unexpected '-' at position 64.]
And occasionally I get another error/null type message when I try to refresh my newsfeed.
I've tried to reboot my phone, reinstall facebook, let my phone die recharge it blah blah blah. So, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks :]

the best thing about the nokia is that i could transfer all my info easily between the phones
now i cant transfer all the info i collect all this years yo the milestone
i synced between my nokia to Microsoft outlook and now ho i can transfer all the info to my milestone.
i have to transfer my contacts and calender or ill get crazy.

the play store spits this error at me constantly. It happens when i download apps from the play store. It says "Error retrieving information from the server [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]". Just to clarify, things I've already tried: wiping data of play store and play service frameworks, wiping dalvik and cache, deleting my host file and readding my Google account. I've added another account and it downloaded apps flawllessly so it must be my main google account.

Got a brand new asus memo pad tablet for Christmas and i'm trying to add my credit card to Google play but every time i get an error that says 'error retrieving information from server rpc:s-7:aec-0'
Clearing caches, data and deleting google account and re-adding account DOES NOT WORK. I'm kinda ticked off. Haven't even had it a full 24 hours and i already have problems.

I am trying to set up a Pop account on my Inc. but it fails every time. I used the same settings on a Moto Droid and it worked. The Verizon rep tested it on his phones and it also worked on the Moto Droid but not his Incredible. Spent an hour on the phone with HTC and their only answer is a hard reset - which is bullshit because it doesn't work on 2 different incredibles.

I successfully set up a couple of gmail accounts when I first got my phone and now wish to add a third. However the phone now says it is unable to establish a working data connection. This is definitely not the case. It comes up with this before checking the account credentials so it is not a password issue.

I got a htc hero on orange a couple of weeks ago and cannot set up a google account.When i try it says "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server.This could be a temporary problem or your Sim card may not be provisioned for data services.If it continues call customer care".Am i doing something wrong or is their something i need to do to get this working.

Been reading hotmail is now available to be setup as an exchange account. I've been readying have successfully been able to setup their droid phones this way but heard EVO users were having difficulties. I was not able to sync with the hotmail exchange account and wanted to see if any other Evo users have been successful.
