I've an issue related to the application uninstall. Actually when my application is removed, all the related accounts are removed, and consequently all the account contacts disappear from the device. I was wondering if there is a way to keep the accounts information or eventually to be notified when the application is being uninstalled, in order to allow the application to advice the user.

For retrieving the accounts (information) in Android versions since 2.0 you can use the Account Manager that has been introduced in Android 2.0. But now I have the problem I want to maintain compatibility with atleast Android 1.6, is there any way to retrieve account information in Android 1.6?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe email account that I use on a regular basis is the email account that my high school set up for me. It is not an account that is organized with a bigger company such as google, yahoo, hotmail, etc. When I tried to set up my email account on my Droid ally, it asks me for a lot of detailed information about my server and then said it could not connect. I used to have a Blackberry Tour and it did not require any information other than username and password to set up an email account so I know my school does not have any restrictions on this type of thing.
Does anyone know what I should do? The Verizon store had no idea.
I'm new on here although have been lurking for a while trying to suss out my hero.I need help setting up my orange email account on the phone, I've tried searching the forum without success, point in the right direction if you can.anyway when I try to set it up the phone responds with 'cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding'This is driving me mental. Please be gentle as I'm not the most technically savvy with these things.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot my desire yesterday, having defected from Windows Mobile and spent all yesterday and today getting very frustrated! I successfully set up my various email accounts - except one which requires a SSL outgoing SMTP server on port 465. When I put the correct settings into the setup wizard it simply fails to complete the account setup. If I change any of the fields to an incorrect parameter, it gives an error but at least lets me save the settings and exit the wizard.
With the correct settings in place - it communicates with the server stating: "Verifying account information" and then promptly does nothing (it doesn't hang up, it just returns to the SMTP screen). The only way I can get out of the wizard is to enter an incorrect setting. This means that whilst receiving emails on this account is no problem, I am unable to reply to them or send any emails from this account. I know there is nothing wrong with my ISP (T-mobile uk) because I am using the same SIM from my Touch-pro where this account worked fine for the previous 18 months.
I've already got a facebook account and use it regularly. I can't seem to register the account information on the X10 but I can access my account through the facebook app itself. I've updated the app from the android market and still doesn't allow me to register my account. I keep getting the message "connection failed".
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to upload a video to youtube I get the same error every time, "unable to retrieve account information" I am logged in on my phone and i get all the way to the point where I'm ready to hit upload, but when I hit it, it IMMEDIATELY says "unable to retrieve account information". Any ideas, tips? I've also tried going through QIK, but it doesn't seem to be working either, it won't let me even select Youtube because it doesn't think I've set up the sharing for it, but I have.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a Mac user (photographer/ videographer). I also rely heavily on my iPod Touch when mobile (i can often find a wifi signal when i am out and about). I use iCal on the Touch and iCal on my Mac as well as the address book on both everyday and as a Mobile Me user, my two devices sync so everything is mirrored and up to date. I also HATE AT&T for their terrible signal strength and coverage and have been a loyal Verizon customer for many years and this is why I don't have an iPhone. Okay, all that being said, is there an easy way to still use everything I love and rely on with my Mac (the calender and address book, mainly) and easily sync all of my existing information and future info to an Android based device? How easy is it to use an Android device with a Mac? I don't want to have to manually re-enter my entire address book into a new device.

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.
I have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

I've got handcent installed and I've got it set up so that when I receive a text, the quick reply box pops up for 10/20 seconds. But if I'm away from my phone and I later check to see if I've received a text, the only indication I have is a small icon on the navigation bar.

Every so often, someone wants to take a look at the phone and play around. Reading some important stuff is one thing, but people tend to mess the stuff around as well. Have you found a program or a way to protect from that? (other than denying to the people :> ) I guess some kind of shell program that you turn over when someone wants to demo the phone would be a nice solution.
