But now I have the problem I want to maintain compatibility with atleast Android 1.6, is there any way to retrieve account information in Android 1.6?

Feb 4, 2010My program is targeting Android 1.5. I would like to retrieve system information about the device itself. I have found very few helpful classes by searching the APIs. the best I've found so far is the Runtime class and a few Build.* system properties.
I would like to be able to get information like the total amount of memory on the device, the amount of free memory (which I do not know if the Runtime class is actually giving me, since it specifically refers to memory available to the JVM) along with information about the processor.
Is this information available, and if so, where can I find it?
HTC EVO 4G :: "Unable To Retrieve Account Information" Error
Jun 21, 2010When I try to upload a video to youtube I get the same error every time, "unable to retrieve account information" I am logged in on my phone and i get all the way to the point where I'm ready to hit upload, but when I hit it, it IMMEDIATELY says "unable to retrieve account information". Any ideas, tips? I've also tried going through QIK, but it doesn't seem to be working either, it won't let me even select Youtube because it doesn't think I've set up the sharing for it, but I have.

Jul 7, 2010I am a Mac user (photographer/ videographer). I also rely heavily on my iPod Touch when mobile (i can often find a wifi signal when i am out and about). I use iCal on the Touch and iCal on my Mac as well as the address book on both everyday and as a Mobile Me user, my two devices sync so everything is mirrored and up to date. I also HATE AT&T for their terrible signal strength and coverage and have been a loyal Verizon customer for many years and this is why I don't have an iPhone. Okay, all that being said, is there an easy way to still use everything I love and rely on with my Mac (the calender and address book, mainly) and easily sync all of my existing information and future info to an Android based device? How easy is it to use an Android device with a Mac? I don't want to have to manually re-enter my entire address book into a new device.

And after I reading the mediascanner sourcecode I think if I want to make the AAC file can be recognized in the music player I should to add following code to mediafile.java:

Android :: Recorded Sound File Not Getting Listed In Music Menu
Aug 19, 2009I have created an basic sound recorder application using MediaRecorder class. It has 3 buttons i.e.
1.Record: Start recording
2.Stop: Stop recording
3.Play: Play recorded file ( 3gp format)
I can record any number of files using this. Each files gets name as audio1,audio2 ..etc.The problem is after recording the file I can play it using play button. But if I exit my application I am not able to see that file listed in music menu in emulator. But at the same time when i browse my sdcard using eclipse I can see the recorded audio file. ( I have aleady mounted sdcard image and can see other sdcard content in emulator)Now if I close the emulator and relaunch it I can see that file in emulator music menu. Now suppose that file name is audio1.3gp. If I record a sound using my app it will record it using name audio1.3gp on same location. This time if I goto music menu I can see audio1.3gp file with latest recorded audio.

Jun 8, 2010I listen to music whilst commuting on a bike and whilst out riding a MTB, I have a pair of HTC headphones with in-line controls to make switching tracks easy but am infuriated by the music apps available.
I also have the Audiobooks app installed and despite many attempts I am unable to get any music app to ignore the file containing audiobook chapters.
As a result varied pieces of audiobooks get mixed up with the music tracks, I have tried using Median, Double Twist, 3Cubed and the standard player, non allow me to just select single folders containing MP3 files and they don't all recognise the in-line phones.
Are all music apps so amateurish or is there a really good one out there which I have not yet found.
Phone is a HTC Desire.

Nov 5, 2009In application I'm developing i need to open some standard dialog to browse files on the phone. After picking one file I'll attach it to the message. In Android Dev Guide i found such way to solve my problem...
But in that dialog, when I'm trying to pick sound file, i start to playback. And one more problem - using that dialog i can see only gallery and music tracks.
Is there any other way to display such kind of dialog? Or maybe stop to playback the music?
General :: Android Music App - Player Does Not Support This Type Of Audio File
Mar 8, 2010Music101 question: Im new to Android and I have a CLIQ.
I just copyied music files from my Windows-based pc the they all copied with no problem. The issue is when I go to play the music I have to force close the app repeatedly then I get an error message saying "sorry player does not support this type of audio file".
Is there an app available to convert files or did I mess up the path in someway that the songs, all mp3's btw, just aren't being located properly?

Nov 8, 2013I love the native music player that comes stock on android (via google music). I also use a mac, and I'm in Canada (so I can't take full advantage of the google music service, I.E. storing music in the cloud and managing it that way. In order to put music on my android phone i simply select the songs in my itunes and and drag them into the music folder in Android File Transfer. This works, however, there is one problem: the songs aren't organized into folders, which makes it extremely difficult to organize / delete music from my phone when I want to, as the songs are organized as 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 02 02 02 02 02 03 03 03 03 etc. I tried to right click the music folder and say new folder but it won't create that folder in the music folder. I tried moving the songs into that folder then dragging it into the music folder but that won't work.
I really don't want to use double twist, because I have in the past, and I don't really like it all that much. I just want my files to be organized into folders so that when I can delete them later when I want to.

Oct 18, 2010I noticed a similar thread by another member.However, my problem is not constant.Sometimes, and as far as I can see it's random, my phone cannot play the music files I have on my SD card.I've tried the stock player and Mixzing. The music is WMA format.Sometimes it'll play the first few seconds, then stop.Sometimes, when I press party shuffle after it says it can't play it plays! This is not just one album, but any of them. Other times it works fine.Is it the WMA format?If I re-rip as MP3 will that help?It's annoying when I think I'm going to listen to an album on a bike ride and then can't!

Sep 28, 2010I downloaded three songs from Amazon MP3. 2/3 came through just fine. (Even though the download manager through Amazon says everything id fine)When I open my music player, I cannot find the third song. But when I look up through my 'file' app, I can fund it on my SD card, right where it is supposed to be. I can even play it through the file app. But even showing all music, that third song does not show up. What could the deal be there?

The problem is that these downloaded songs are sometimes misspelled, mislabled, the genre & other info isn't filled in at all, and or the album info is missing or incorrect.The result with a great audio player app like "3" (my favorite so far) is that I might have 35 Tom Petty songs, but because album info is missing on so many of them, the app has them dispersed among 22 different albums! Very annoying. (This happened after telling "3" to search for album art.) Then there's the "Unknown Atrist" catagory where I'll no doubt find another stray TP song, etc.What I'm looking for is another app that gives me a GUI that allows me to edit all of the tag data for music files in my library.
