HTC EVO 4G :: Toggle Switch For Profiles
Jun 20, 2010
Can someone post the different types of toggle switches you can get for this phone? I was looking through the 'post your screens' thread and I see all of these cool toggle switches for silent mode, vibrate, airplane, etc. But no one post the names of them or where to find them.

I want to be able to set up my phone, Verizon Galaxy S4, to have different profiles, I guess you would say. For instance I want to be able to set up a home screen, wallpaper, launcher etc. to look real classy/minimal at times, then at other times I want everything on the home screen, different wallpapers, icons, etc. and maybe a different launcher to boot. A completely different look. I would like to be able to just switch between the setups quickly and at will. The more profiles supported the better..

I'm searching for an application that can switch CM 10 profiles based in wifi connections.
Thought [URL].... could do that, but it manages its own profiles.

Is there a way to automatically switch between profiles based on a schedule or location? Like set the Night Profile from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM and set Work Profile from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM?

1. Web browsing. Especially if I go to the Facebook website, when I click on some buttons, lilke "Search", nothing happens. It is as if it is a dead link. My only solution is that I reboot my phone, and then clicking on links work again. Anyone have this or no a solution?
2. I am going overseas to South Africa - what is my best option for using my phone? I wanted to just use it for Wifi capabalities, but do not want to incur any data/roaming charges. How do you exactly disable these features so that I just have Wifi?
3. When I go to "People" I see all my contacts, and there pictures are their Facebook pictures. However, if someone updates their profile picture on Facebook, it does not show their new picture. How does this get refreshed? I went to synch and made sure Facebook was synched, still have this problem.
4. What is the most efficient/easiest way to text message, and switch between sound profiles?

I have an AT&T Captivate with a 200 MB data plan. I want to have an easy toggle switch to disable any data transfer that counts toward that 200 MB. So far I've only done mild browsing/email and navigation off wireless, yet I've already used 67 Mb in 4-5 days. Anybody else having similar experiences?
I've tried the APNDroid widget set to "Red", but when I disable Wifi, the 3G icon pops right up in the notification bar and 3G seems to work normally. I've also tried the JuiceDefender "Toggle Mobile Data" and tapped it to make it yellow "ON", and again the 3G pops up when I disable WiFi. Anybody having any luck disabling 3G? Also, it would be nice to still get push gmail, which seems like it wouldn't using much data.

I've just rooted and Villian 2.1ified my Orange Hero.Now I swear there was an easy way to link contacts to their fb profiles, but now I can only find a way to manually do it one contact at a time. With alot of contacts, this could take somewhere between three to four years.

I think we should get a good thread going with how everyone has set up profiles in Tasker. With so many options, sometimes I overlook a really cool way to set up a profile. That is mine except for a few really basic ones. There is still 1 I want to set up:-Face down at a certain time -> screen lock, otherwise no lock, alarm triggered until unlocked if picked up.

If you are like me and have been using Quick Profiles (free in the market) to easily change system settings do yourself a favor and check out Quick Profile Pro (about $1.10). I has a very convenient widget to change profiles and now gives you a choice of 115 icons to assign to each profile (I used to use Bettercut to skin the icons - this is much easier). Quick Profiles has always been one of my most trouble free time savers (I have profiles set for my car (turns on my bluetooth and keeps screen on), work (lowers ringtones, turns of wifi and changes wallpaper), home (everything cranked up) and night (sound off). I purchased the addon to show my support for the developer. I had no idea how well thought out and implemented they designed the widget and assignable icons. This is a real keeper

I just picked up a Droid, after having blackberries for years. One thing I noticed about the droid is the lack of sound profiles. I basically had two profiles I would use on my blackberry and after downloading the app ' simple sound profile widget' I still cannot manage to get the two profiles I used on my blackberry. Here is the settings I would like to achieve:
Profile 1: vibrate only for sms/mms messages and phone calls (all other notifications silent)
Profile 2: Silence everything except alarm clock.
I think the main problem is that i cannot figure out how to separate out texts from all other notifications (emails, etc.)Any help would be appreciated. I kept hearing about how customizable droids were so I just assumed this would be doable.

Im looking for a quick way to set pre-set profiles. When I am working I like to turn of my ring tone (leave on vibrate) but leave my message tone as normal. at the moment the only way I can see to do this is to manually turn the ring volume down.Now thats pretty simple and only takes a second but I was wondering if there is a way to create profiles instead? On my Nokia E71 for example I have a work profile and a normal profile which I just switch between when I need to.

I have searched a bit for this info but don't seem to find much on the issue. I just got my EVO after having a Blackberry for several years. Are we able to create additional sound profiles. Example, I need to have a quiet setting while I am at work so I get quiet notifications of emails or texts, but no ringer. I love the phone, just having a hard time making the adjustment away from the berry.

I have just got the new Samsung Galaxy S phone, which after using Nokia N97 is a brilliant phone. My main issue is that it doesn't have standard phone profiles yet the function manual I downloaded from the Samsung site clearly says it does? Any ideas? Not a major issue but I guess I just got used to having profiles. Secondly, is there a way to sort the photos in the gallery into different folders? For example in months or tags?

I've had my Droid for about 5 months now, and I've tried many of the profile apps. Unfortunately, the one thing that I'm annoyed with when it comes to the Android system is how it handles profiles-- specifically in regards to Vibrate. I simply want to be able to have sounds on and vibrate off, and sounds off and vibrate on. However, you have to set each program (gmail, email, messaging) to have vibrate on, to utilize vibrate. BUT-- what if you want to quickly switch to a low volume sound only? I haven't seen an app that offers this yet. So, you have to go in and turn off the vibrates... Really dumb shortful on Google's part in my opinion. It's actually causing me to consider going back to a windows phone *shudder* (windows 7 perhaps). Anyways, if I'm missing something, please enlighten me. I've been through EVERYTHING (rooted, not rooted, DroidMod, Cynogen, etc, etc, and back to 2.1 OTA).

Hey guys, I previously posted this (i have now added something extra to this one) on another thread, it took me about 20 minutes to write, surpassing by far any the maximum time I ever spent on one single forum post in the past lmao.It was originally a response to someone who wanted to activate gps remotely if they lost their phone in order to use 'lookout' and then deactivate it afterwards to save battery. I though I'd make it its own thread since it took me ages to write, and it can effectively replace several features of the 'lookout' security app.

I'm coding an app that uses configurable profiles for different user preferences: many different users will use the same app on the same device. The problem is that I can't use Android's Preference Activity because it just support one user per application. Is there an easy way to generate the user interface for configuration, or I have to code everything from 0, including the user interface?

There's something I'm not getting about this app, so let me explain what I'd like to do:
From 8 to 8:30a.m., when I'm on my way to work, I want it to turn off wi-fi and turn the phone ringer to full volume. I got that one figured out.
At 8:30, I'd like the phone ringer to go back to normal and wi-fi to come on. Do I need to set up a timed profile for that, or does it automatically happen when 8:30 comes?
Then from 5 to 5:30pm, I want the same thing to happen as I drive home. I'm guessing I can use the same "action" as above, and set the timer for 5-5:30pm.
When I get home, I'd like wi-fi to be on and the ringer to be normal. Do I have to set up a special profile for that, too?
Then I'm wondering about "locations" and this may be a stupid question: let's say I get home early, at 5:15. Is it possible to have a profile set up that says, "when you sense our home wi-fi network, turn the wi-fi on and override the timed 5-5:30 rule above?" Or does the wi-fi need to be ALREADY on to sense our home wi-fi network channel?

Is there any way of changing the settings for the Vibrate profile so it makes a small beep when it rings or you get a message. The items are all greyed out. I use it when I have my headphones in or on a train and would like a small noise to let me know if I have a call or message.

One of the games that I was addicted to, for quite a while, was Airport mania 2. One of the best features about this game is that it had support for multiple users. That way, on our family tablet, I could play it, my wife could play it, and so could my daughter, and all our progress and scores were separate. This was so awesome it's hard to describe. Kind of like having an epiphany.
So the main question is, why do other uber popular games like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc not support multiple users.
Tablet are becoming more prevalent these days and most families I knew have one tablet that is shared. Not being able to separate my game scores and progress from those of other family members is really bad. I don't play most games any more because someone else in my family already does and I want to play a whole run by myself.
From a programming standpoint it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard. A separate set of stored data for each profile and a screen to let the user choose which set of data to load. However since very few games do this, I'm guessing there's more to it than that, or they just don't care..

Give thumbs up for this nice feature to switch cm-profiles with nfc-tags!! But I would like to go a step further: pure automatic. I think it would be nice to have an module which switches the profiles on defined events (just like the "nfc-event").Triggers for that could be:
* WLAN-Connection to special WLAN
* Position of the phone (display downside )
* NFC-Tags
* Position
* etc.
