Android :: Best Application / Widget To Change Profiles In 2.1
May 7, 2010I have a Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1. What is your best app/widget to switch profiles? I want something that allows me to switch among: completely silent, vibration without ringer, vibration with ringer. I currently use the free app "Profiles' by "egg 'n stone". It's ok, but I was wondering if there's anything better.
I know there are plenty of widgets to enable/disable ringer and vibration; I tried several, but most didn't work well, especially when I tried to combine ringer and vibration: i.e. they were ok if I only wanted to enable or disable one of the two, but not both. Coming from Nokias and the Iphone, I must say I'm really disappointed there isn't soemthing integrated in the OS to switch profiles (like with Nokias) or at least a physical button to enable/disable the ringer, like in the Iphone.
Android :: App To Change Profiles Depending On Time Of Day
Aug 22, 2010I am looking for an app, that say when I go to bed at 2300, it auto silences. It goes back to loud at 0600. When I get to work at 0800, it silences again. Yet, when my GF calls, I want it to always override and ring no matter what time it is.Are there any programs like this that will work for what I want?

Feb 2, 2010I switched to a Motorola Droid 5 days ago (from a Blackberry curve). I'm having some trouble understanding some of the behavior and getting used to it. These are all things that I didn't have to deal with on the blackberry. I know they are different devices but I use my Phone primarily for work. I'm afraid now that I'll miss important messages or voice calls..
- Phone goes Mute (ringer)... No idea how it gets there. Probably a bad finger swipe on the home screen. Is there a way to disable this?
- No easy change from profiles (notifications, ringer, etc...). I tried a few apps but they all seems to fail at turning on/off notifications for e-mail/gmail.
- don't receive my messages (gmail), seems like it doesn't sync all the time
- gapps crashes all the time when downloading an app from the market.
- Random calls...
- Didn't use the browser, battery is 70%. Put it down for a movie (2 hours) and then battery is now 20%... Browser used the battery 50% according to the phone. Switch to the browser, was on the google.com home page.
I did search on all of these and they seem to be pretty much standard issues that people are having. Are they?Other that that it seems like a great phone. But like I said, I'm afraid of not getting calls sometime because it gets turned to "mute".

I use several aliases for websites I run, and various different roles I have, but they all come into my gmail account, but I can't change the from address on the gmail app. Anyone know of any apps where I can change this?

Android :: Way To Change Message List Size In K9 Mail?
Jan 9, 2010I like using K9 Mail, but I was wondering if there was a way to change the size of the messages listed in the in box or any IMAP folder. 10-and-a-half messages (with the subject on one line and sender on another) are displayed on my Moment's screen. While I like seeing all of these messages, it is not very finger-friendly. It is difficult to tap precisely on a given message. Is there any way to increase the size of the message list? Something like the default Gmail or Android e-mail app would be great. I have dug through the preferences of K9, but so far haven't found anything other than being able to change the theme of the app.

I prefer the mail client route as it keeps in sync with updates.

Jun 9, 2010Using a Yahoo-based e-mail that I linked up to the Evo. The e-mail on my phone doesn't update at all with what I do on the computer with the e-mail. So I can read and/or delete the e-mail on my computer and it still keeps it as in my inbox and unread on the phone. Thus, the phone can say I show 200 unread emails even though I've read them all. Is there a way to fix this or change the settings?

Nov 2, 2010I have setup and tested my personal email on my new HTC Desire and all seems fine, then when I get home and manually check my email on my Outlook client I seem to have received about 4 emails but none to my phone. When I go into my settings on my phone, the SMTP server settings for mail have changed. For example when I set it up it should be say:
POP Server: mail.neilsdomain.com
POP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@ispname.co.uk
I test this and all works wonderfully and mail flows into my phone. Then for some unknown reason when I come out and go back in the SMTP settings have changed by themselves to:
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com. Why would the SMTP Username change?

May 17, 2010Just got the 2.1 OTA upgrade on my Eris. The mail client is stuck on "manual" for my Exchange account. I deleted the account and re-added it, but it still won't let me change it. I can select "as items arrive" or any of the other schedules, but as soon as I leave that screen and go back to it I find that it's set back to manual. Any ideas?

I has a very convenient widget to change profiles and now gives you a choice of 115 icons to assign to each profile (I used to use Bettercut to skin the icons - this is much easier). Quick Profiles has always been one of my most trouble free time savers (I have profiles set for my car (turns on my bluetooth and keeps screen on), work (lowers ringtones, turns of wifi and changes wallpaper), home (everything cranked up) and night (sound off). I purchased the addon to show my support for the developer. I had no idea how well thought out and implemented they designed the widget and assignable icons. This is a real keeper

Sep 27, 2010I just picked up a Droid, after having blackberries for years. One thing I noticed about the droid is the lack of sound profiles. I basically had two profiles I would use on my blackberry and after downloading the app ' simple sound profile widget' I still cannot manage to get the two profiles I used on my blackberry. Here is the settings I would like to achieve:
Profile 1: vibrate only for sms/mms messages and phone calls (all other notifications silent)
Profile 2: Silence everything except alarm clock.
I think the main problem is that i cannot figure out how to separate out texts from all other notifications (emails, etc.)Any help would be appreciated. I kept hearing about how customizable droids were so I just assumed this would be doable.
