HTC EVO 4G :: System Crash When Snap A Pic

Jun 8, 2010

My EVO crashed a little while ago. I was playing with it at dinner, mainly checking email, and I accidentally opened the app "device self service". I waited ~30s and gave up and pressed Home. That took me back Home no problem. But when I went to go snap a pic about 45 mins later, I noticed my phone was off/crashed. I couldn't get it to do anything, which led me to believe it was on/hung, not off like it felt/looked. I popped out the battery and popped it back in and turned it on. It booted up like nothing happened. I have root - I was wondering where I could look for crash/log info??

HTC EVO 4G :: Still Best Performance From Snap 7.1

Sep 5, 2010

I've been trying all the new kernels out there and still my best performance is coming on Snap 7.1 running the latest cm6 nightly. Quadrant over 2200 and Linpack over 39 (see pictures): I don't think Snap 7.1 gets into all the heavy voltage regulation stuff. For me, I'm not willing to sacrifice performance for an extra hour of battery (I just bought a bigger battery).

HTC Droid Eris :: Anyone Using Red Snap On Case?

Apr 27, 2010

Saw this in the store today and thought about getting it. It looks like it's made of something like aluminum or a cheap version of it. Fairly inexpensive, too. Just wondering if anyone has used this case. I like my Seidio Innocase just fine but looking for a change. My concern is how it snaps on and whether or not it would damage the case in the spots where it holds onto the phone. I am also wondering how the paint job holds up. Just curious. I'd post a pic but it's not on the verizon website and I can't find anything similar on ebay. This one doesn't have a bezel that goes all the way around the front of the phone.

HTC EVO 4G :: Snap 7.6 Kernel With Turbo / Sense Style Dialer

Oct 14, 2010

Anyone running snap 7.6 kernel with turbo? I am and other than the big quadrant scores which I think have a lot to do with the read/write speed increase due to the partition, I don't notice much difference between this ROM kernel combo and any other I have tried. What is your opinion. I switched back to CM6 until MIUI MMS is working all the way around and I was lead to dialer one, which is the reason I left CM6 in the first place, I like the sense style dialer.

Android :: Defining Set Values For Seekbar Widget To Snap

May 30, 2009

Is there a way to define set values (i.e. 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) for the seekbar widget that enables the slider to "snap" to the nearest set value? For example instead of allowing the user to position the slider at an percentage through 0-100, instead the slider can only ever be positioned at one of the five set values? While were on the subject is there an easy solution for positioning the seekbar vertically, I'd rather not hack through the seekbar source code - but I fear I may have to!

Android :: Snap Photo Pro Force Closes Occasionally Along With Other Malfunctions

Mar 12, 2009

I've been using Snap Photo since early on, and it was cool. Then I bought Pro. I went through several updates and checked out all the features. I have to say, this application is getting worse with time! Here are all my complaints. All of these problems happen intermittently. I can never seem to reproduce the problems at will, but they've all occurred multiple times.

1. Saves corrupted pictures. This is the worst! You take a pic, it looks good on the screen. You have auto-save turned on, so it just starts saving it, and shows the spinner. Later you go look for your photo in the Pictures app and there it is with a broken-looking, gray icon instead of a thumbnail. And now it's too late to try again. This is a complete deal breaker for me. If you can't trust the app to save a photo 100% of the time then it's useless!

2. Takes a LOT longer to save a photo to the SD card than the regular photo app. I mean after the picture it taken, and the still image is on your screen, and it's showing the spinner icon as it saves. You have to wait at least 5 seconds for it to finish saving the pic. The regular app does it in two. It's probably using its own shoddy code to compress the JPEG file. Hence why you can change the quality, and why it screws up sometimes and saves a corrupted pic.

3. The app stops listening to any input at all. Several times I would be waiting for the perfect time to take a pic and would click the button nothing. Click it again Nothing! Click the on-screen button. Nothing! Press the back button to leave the app and go use the regular one. Won't even quit! I had to use the Home button and leave it running. This is almost as bad as #1.

4. The horizon line feature is a joke. I don't know why you'd want it, but that's beside the point. I would hold my phone on a level surface, like my coffee table, press the calibrate button, and the line would still be cocked at an angle by a few pixels!

5. Force closes occasionally for unknown reasons. Try to take a pic crash. Change some settings crash. Useless. It would crash at some point 1 out of 20 uses. Unacceptable.

Good thing it only cost me $1. But it's actually cost me more than that in lost photos and much frustration.

Android : Preventing Multiple Activities From Stacking With A Camera Snap

Nov 22, 2010

I have read into the finish(); commands and the FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP commands and also checked out Common Ware's answer on killing app, but I am not sure how to put this into my app.

Basically, I have a user click a button that takes them to the camera. The user then snaps a photo and it brings them to a layout view. The user then clicks a button that takes them to one of 2 views, depending on a some conditions.

The user is then allowed to either retake a photo, or go to the main menu (depending). My problem is, if the user goes back to the main menu, and snaps another, then another, etc...the activities stack, so when I click the 'Main Menu' button the app goes back through eached stack activity until finally it goes back to the main menu. Is there a way to kill each activity with one of these lines, so even if a user retakes a photo, they will only need to go back once to get to the main menu?

Android :: Loading Native Libraries - System Load - Dlopen - Nexus One After FRG83 System Update

Nov 17, 2010

I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.

Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.

The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so

What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
