HTC EVO 4G : Switching Phones And Android Market

Jun 15, 2010

I've noticed some people swapping out their phones for 'issues'.How does this relate to the Android Market and apps you've purchased?If you swap to a new phone,will you be able to re-download apps we've paid for? or will we have to pay for it again?Also, what if the phone has a zagg or some other type of shield?Will Sprint replace this?or are we out of luck and have to purchase again?I have the static in the earpiece issue.we'll see how long I can last with that issue before it really gets on my nerves.

Android :: Show Game To Fast Enough Phones In Market

Oct 6, 2010

I've been looking for a way to only show my game to "fast enough" phones in the Market but I can't find any good answer. Some people suggest to target by SDK, but that has nothing to do with the speed. I've seen some to target by screen size, but some Acer phones and the HTC Legend are fast enough for my game but have the same screen than the HTC Hero which is pretty slow.

I also saw some people filtering by OpenGL ES version but I can't find any sort of database that tells me which phones have OpenGL ES 2. Android 2.0 is supposed to support it, but I don't know if phones like the HTC Magic, after being updated to 2.0 will support it or they will be stuck in 1.1.

Android :: Apps Not Appearing Market Place On Certain Phones

Jan 24, 2010

My family has got three android phones, an HTC Hero, a Samsung Galaxy, and a T-Mobile Pulse, all are running android 1.5 with the latest manufacturer firmware. On the T-Mobile Pulse, when searching for a couple of apps (ones that I have installed on the other two devices), I get returned 'no matches'. For example, if I search for 'BrightAI', which is a developer who has around 8 apps on the market, I get no matches. If I search for individual apps, I get 'no matches'. Searching for the same on either the Hero or Galaxy returns the expected results. Does anyone have any ideas why certain apps are accessible on one device, but not the other?

Samsung Moment : Android Market Blocking Items For Certian Phones

Dec 9, 2009

I hope its not just me. But there has to be an update for google maps by now.We are at 3.1.2 i think.When i search for google maps in the market, i get everything but google maps.I was trying to get infinity web browser as well, and this never shows up for me. But it is in the market.Just as Google's website says that google maps is on the market, and they dont offer a download.So, is sprint/Samsung blocking stuff in the market? do we have our own special market or something? I'm not seeing to many apps that say "must have root access" either.

Android :: Switching Launcher Pro

Jun 25, 2010

I've got a short question: currently I'm running adw.launcher but I want to try launcher pro ... So my question is: WHen I install launcherpro and set it as default launcher, should I uninstall adw.launcher to have better performance? And if yes, are my settings and homescreens kept when I want to switch back to adw.launcher some time? I read about performance issues here somewhere, when adw.launcher with 5 full homescreens is running in background and somewhere, people stated one should remove all widgets from the homescreen before switching to a new launcher.

Android :: Switching Off Apps

I click 'home' and go back to home. But if I go back to an app it's where I left it. I ask Voyager how to get somewhere, then go back to home, and put my HTC Desire to sleep. In the middle of the night I hear a voice saying "Go 100 yards and turn left." so voyager has an exit option in the menu. But what about other apps? They must surely be using up memory and battery power..?

Android :: Speakerphone Switching App

Oct 20, 2010

Is there an app that automatically switches from speakerphone to ear piece based on the proximity detector?

I think it would be useful if there was an app that starts when in phone mode, and detects when the phone is being held to my ear and automatically switches from speaker to ear piece and back as the screen turns off or on based on the proximity detector.

With the more and more frequent state laws on hands free cell phone use while driving, something like this could be quite useful. I, for one would be willing to pay for something like this

Android :: Switching-off/re-booting

Jul 21, 2010

I was just messsing about and flipping through screens and settings and noticed that the phones uptime was at 9 days. This is because at night I either tend to leave it on wifi or just put it to aeroplane mode.

But I was just wondering if there is any benefit to the phones OS or memory if it is occasionally switched off and rebooted? ( apart from saving a little battery obviously). Or is it perfectly acceptable to just keep it running if everything's ok?

how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?

Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.

Android : Switching Phone For Christmas

Nov 18, 2010

I'm from the UK and currently using an N95 which although I really like is getting a little tired, old and feels slow compared to the newer phones.My contract with Orange is coming up due and they've said I can pick any phone at any price for free so thought I'd switch to android. I'm no stranger to messing with my N95 software so no need to be worried about suggesting a user friendly phone etc or if a phone can be improved by rooting etc. I'm willing to wait if there's anything really nice due in the next month or 2 but I'm basically after the best I can get my hands on especially hardware wise (as I'll have to wait 18 months+ for an upgrade).I've seen there could be new phones being released with 2ghz processors, 1gig ram etc which would allow me to keep up with updates. (I de-branded my n95 so I can use the latest firmware as i really dont like missing out on nice updates) Having a fairly decent camera would be a bonus as I am partial to taking the odd piccy.

General :: Switching To Android From IPhone 4S?

Jan 16, 2014

My contract with Verizon is up in the middle of February and my wife and I are planning on getting new phones and possibly switching carries (possibly to T-Mobile). Based on what's currently available I think if we stay on Verizon we'll get two Moto Xs, but if we switch to T-Mobile we'll go with the Nexus 5. I try to stay up on tech news, but if any new phones are expected in February or early March I'd be interested in hearing about them. I don't want to wait too long because my iPhone is out of warranty and starting to slowly die (for instance the on/off button no longer works).
