HTC EVO 4G :: Should HTC Recall Batteries?
Jul 8, 2010
No matter what I do I am unable to open a file, either in my app's data directory or on the sdcard and also in a folder on the sdcard. To test I placed a test.txt file in all three directories. When I do listfiles, I get the correct list of files set in an array. I've even tried getting the list and filtering out a specific file and try opening it that way and just trying the first item in the array. Is there some security that may be set that is making it so I cant open files? This is not the emulator, it is on a device.

RecallCheck allows Android based mobile phones with cameras to scan barcodes of food products and automatically search the web site of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for recalls. Bar codes on food products in the US take the form of a Universal Product Code (UPC). While the UPC is usually posted as part of a recall notice, the code is often in a form that makes it difficult to find via standard search services. RecallCheck simplifies the process of finding recalled items! RecallCheck is convenient, fast, easy to use, and economical.Product details can be seen at Agorasys.

Evening folks i downloaded an app for my Xperia X10 which was Total Recall which allows me to record telephone conversations both incoming and outgoing automatically, now i downloaded the free app but never used it as my phone developed issues i was told by my network provider to do a master reset and to reinstall any Apps i had on phone as they would also be deleted. I have sibnce managed tovreinstrall all the other apps but Total Recall will not reinstall it keeps coming up with " YOU CAN'T INSTALL A TRIAL COPY ON THIS DEVICE MORE THAN ONCE" I could understand it if i had used it but i am not willing to buy it to realise it's not all made out to be. Can anyone help with this issue or recommend another free app which will allow me to record incoming and outgoing conversation calls

I keep notes on many of my contact and I would like o be able to recall a contact by a search that would include the notes. For example, lets say I get to talking to someone e at the airport. We get to talking and find he is big into ATV's. He's looking for a riding partner so he tells me to give him a call the next time I go. I store his name as Bob and in the notes I put ATV. later I want to look him up but only remember the ATV part. As far as I can tell the search doesn't include the notes. Is there a way to do that.

I'm looking to buy a spare battery, and atm, i'm leaning towards buying an oem battery. But before I make a purchase, I'd like to hear some first hand experiences from actual owners of slim extended batteries. So, if you don't mind, those of you who actually use the extended slim batteries, please let me know the company, mah, where you bought it from, and you experiences.

No, this is not a thread to bash the battery for the EVO. In fact if you do some research, you will notice that i have praised the EVO's battery in the past. Recently, however, my battery died on me on my trip to florida, and a sprint store in Daytona ordered me a new one. It is not the red EVO battery i have come to know, but a mere black one with the words 'HTC Innovations', and has the appearance of it looking used (some crud on it, which i still have not removed).
So my question is do batteries have good and bad days? I have not changed any settings on my phone, and i use to get a day out of it before it reaching 20%. Now im lucky to get 6 hours. Did i get a refurbished battery?

Make an internal battery to run on, and a battery you can slide in and out like a SD card so you don't have to keep shutting down, restarting the phone and pulling off the battery cover just cause your phone has bad battery life.. aren't cameras this way? I could swear my kodak was like this.

Is it just me or are there no cases once you get an extended battery. Sendo adds 4mm and the OEM adds 1mm. I am guessing that you have the choice between the battery or a case. I wonder if a flexible case like the tough case would have a problem with a 1mm difference. Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk

I'm getting a ton more time out of the batteries charged in the wall charger but I have noticed the batteries won't charge in the phone via USB. Anyone else have this problem? I like the extra time but not being able to charge in anything except the wall isn't that great. Guess i'll just use them as backup batteries.

Is there any way to put this phone into a PHONE ONLY mode? The idea here is to turn off all Android functions and have it operate as only a phone, calls and texts only. The idea here would be to maximize battery life if you know that you are going to be away from power for a long time, and want to be sure you can use the phone if an emergency arises.

That message has been popping up intermittently on my Droid since day one. I've gone through the Exchange email set up a dozen times (since it keeps disappearing.)I have swapped out my Droid for a new one.I've done factory hard resets.I typically receive 200+ Exchange emails daily and my Droid is receiving about 10% of these.I've verified with our I.T. Dept. all settings are correct - there are 40+ Droid users here and I'm the only one experiencing this ongoing problem. Can anyone help?I spoke with someone who works for Moto, and they denied any knowledge of this problem.I'd hate to think this is an over-priced paperweight.

* Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs from nickel-based batteries.) Short battery life in a laptop is mainly cause by heat rather than charge / discharge patterns.
* Batteries with fuel gauge (laptops) should be calibrated by applying a deliberate full discharge once every 30 charges. Running the pack down in the equipment does this. If ignored, the fuel gauge will become increasingly less accurate and in some cases cut off the device prematurely.
* Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot car. For prolonged storage, keep the battery at a 40% charge level.
* Consider removing the battery from a laptop when running on fixed power. (Some laptop manufacturers are concerned about dust and moisture accumulating inside the battery casing.)
* Avoid purchasing spare lithium-ion batteries for later use. Observe manufacturing dates. Do not buy old stock, even if sold at clearance prices.
* If you have a spare lithium-ion battery, use one to the fullest and keep the other cool by placing it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze the battery. For best results, store the battery at 40% state-of-charge.
Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one.
I can said portable solar charger (built in large capacity li-ion battery) is a better emergency solution for most consumer electronics. Solar Battery Charger --- Give timely additional juice to Phone Battery
Try this. SimeniBiz - 3500mAh solar charger, compatible the most digital device.

So, I don't know where the thread went, but I know we where all pissed off a out only getting a 1500mAh battery, but according to Seidio its a 1750mAh, which is a huge update from a 1300mAh, me thinks.
Not that I've figured out how to get 12 hours out of my Eris Moderate-Heavy use, but this should only make things better. I think the 3500mAh is a bit ridiculous.
Let this be the thread to discuss these add on batteries, and either their positive or negative effects on your life.
Assuming that the Nexus One or anything like it is not coming to VZ anytime soon, I'm happily ordering one of these and ready to roll on with my Eris http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi17hhrv.htm

I noticed something 2 days ago by accident. After I charged my Ozone battery in my Ozone phone, I place it in my Eris. The battery read 100% for 2 hours. When I charge it in the Eris, it immediately starts to drop. Is the Eris charging the battery at less than full capacity?

There has been considerable disparity regarding Droid users battery life post update. I was one reporting very disappointing results. My phone usually would come off the charger at 6AM and down to 20% by noon with moderate use. I went out and bought a new battery and my phone went till about PM yesterday before I hit 20%. Went back to the old battery and again I'm. nearly drained by 2PM. Clearly my two batteries discharge at different rates. This probably explains why people are describing such different results.

I'm close to my 30 days trial being up and I will be out of town when it actually is, so I needed to return the phone early. I just can't live without a working GPS function on a SmartPhone. I travel and love how smartphones allow to me to schlep on less thing (GPS).
Anyway, I had ordered the Ebay Hongkong 2 batteries & charger. Since I have no use for them I'm going to give them away. They are $10 new so by the time I list them and have them sold on ebay its just not worth the hassle.
The first person with over 30 posts who responds to this thread will get them free of charge. I'm going to send them to you on the honor system. After you get them, please compensate me for the postage. Lower 48 USA only please.
I hope this isn't violating any forum rules, but since I'm giving these away, not selling them I should be ok.

Before I even ordered my Incredible I ordered a stand alone battery charger and two extra batteries direct from a China supplier on e bay for $14 total. These batteries are Atomic! I'm getting 50% more running time out of them than the factory battery no lie. The batteries are marked HTC Touch Pro 2 but fit the Incredible also.

I emailed HTC last week with these questions, thought I would post up the replies if anyone else wants to know...
1) Is this safe to use 3rd party extended batteries and will it make a difference to the capacity (it's 1600mAh)? Also, are HTC going to release an official extended battery in the near future?
2) When will the copy protection issue with Google get sorted out?
3) Are you going to release a version of HTC Sync for the Mac operating system?

I did search and read the other threads, but has anyone had experience with portable chargers with the Eris?
I am headed to Bonnaroo and I am sure I'll be using the phone a lot so I was looking at the smaller portable chargers that run off of AA batteries. Figuring I'll need a mid day charge so I want a smaller one to throw in my pack.

I'm using a Droid X, and I bought a spare battery so I can go all day wihtout a fill up so to speak. However I'm noticing that whenever I place a one of the other batteries in, it gives me the same reading as the last battery that was in it, no matter what. Any way to fix this?

This is me writing what will amount to about 10 pages (at least that is what I plan) on how batteries work at the basic quantum and chemical level. I have been promising it for some time, and with everything coming to a close for the summer, I have time. So within the next could of weeks (2 or so), I will be filling in posts.
EDIT: I will be adding about 15 or so posts to expand into. I apologize for the over inflation of my post count, but there is no way I am editing 4 or so huge posts. Each section will have its own post or two. If the mods have any problem with it, please take it down and tell me how to do it to your liking, as many people have asked about this thorough walk through and explanation and thus I would like to do it. I honestly have no idea how long this will be as I have no idea the maximum post size. So I am going over and will ask mods to delete unused posts.
Please use the comments to make specific requests for info, and I will be happy to add it.
EDIT 2: Darn...I seem to have done all of this in the wrong section. Mod, would you please oblige? Tips and tricks, please? Or the regular forum, if that is where you think it fits best. Table of contents

seidioonline.com 2600mAh...almost double stock value.FWIW, I've had one in my Motorola Q for the past year, 2100mAh, and there is a direct correlation on mAh value and usage time compared to stock. So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.
