May 6, 2009When I get in my car my phone pairs with my Parrot so I can make and receive calls without using my phone. My HTC Magic pairs with the device fine (it does take 5 mins or so to sync fully) and I am able to see my contact list and make calls from it without any problems. It puts the audio and the microphone through the Parrot system and its fine. The problem occurs when I receive a call unfortunately. The Parrot system realizes I have an incoming call and cuts out my radio / cd in the car and rings as it should do.
Unfortunately my phone also rings and when I accept the call (on either the phone or the parrot) it doesn't automatically put the call through the parrot. I have to use the phone and manually set the call to go through the bluetooth, which as you can appreciate is a bit fiddly whilst trying to drive. I've had a look round for an app that sorts this, and checked the bluetooth settings on the phone but I've not been able to find anything as of yet that will solve the problem.
HTC Magic :: Making Calls Only Work Intermittently
Jul 9, 2009Just got my Magic today (Rogers) and things went pretty smoothly. Phone unlocked fine, AT&T's APN entered correctly, web browsing is good, Exchange is up and running, etc. But, I am having a problem dialing outbound calls, it is only working intermittently. I'm in a known good service area (5 bars) and have strong signal. Half the time I try to make an outbound call, it fails after about 5 seconds of just sitting there and saying "dialing" - it just craps-out and I get the fast busy signal and a "called failed" message. I try again - same thing. Every once and a while it will go through - and then the cycle happens all over again. This isn't happening in any of my other devices. Could there be a setting in the "phone" area that I have to tweak or something? Obviously a phone that doesn't make calls consistently is no good to me!

Jul 26, 2009I'm a new user to this site, search for some related problems, but I couldn't find anything related to my problem that resolves it.I bought a HTC Magic this week, the best mobile I ever owned.Anyways, the problem is that when someone calls, the "Silent Mode" icon shows up at the "taskbar" and no sound is played. It's really annoying because I can't find the settings for it.I haven't set them to be like this, but it worked the same day I bought it.Not now.So, incoming call->no sound and the icon shows up->the orb flickers->I answer and I can talk without problems.The only thing is that even tho the ringer volume is at max, no sound is played during an incoming call.

Jul 8, 2010No matter what I do I am unable to open a file, either in my app's data directory or on the sdcard and also in a folder on the sdcard. To test I placed a test.txt file in all three directories.When I do listfiles, I get the correct list of files set in an array. I've even tried getting the list and filtering out a specific file and try opening it that way and just trying the first item in the array.Is there some security that may be set that is making it so I cant open files? This is not the emulator, it is on a device.

May 31, 2010I import VCF's with contact details from the company intranet into google contacts to get the details to my Magic (Vodafone, Android 1.6). This works just fine but the pictures get messed up:
Picture of person A ends up connected to the picture of person B or C. Pictures don't show up when dialing or incoming calls are received, they only show up when searching. Please note: in google contacts all looks fine. Again, I'm quite content with the way it works, the picture handling is just confusing.

Oct 16, 2010Evening folks i downloaded an app for my Xperia X10 which was Total Recall which allows me to record telephone conversations both incoming and outgoing automatically, now i downloaded the free app but never used it as my phone developed issues i was told by my network provider to do a master reset and to reinstall any Apps i had on phone as they would also be deleted. I have sibnce managed tovreinstrall all the other apps but Total Recall will not reinstall it keeps coming up with " YOU CAN'T INSTALL A TRIAL COPY ON THIS DEVICE MORE THAN ONCE" I could understand it if i had used it but i am not willing to buy it to realise it's not all made out to be. Can anyone help with this issue or recommend another free app which will allow me to record incoming and outgoing conversation calls

Feb 25, 2010I keep notes on many of my contact and I would like o be able to recall a contact by a search that would include the notes. For example, lets say I get to talking to someone e at the airport. We get to talking and find he is big into ATV's. He's looking for a riding partner so he tells me to give him a call the next time I go. I store his name as Bob and in the notes I put ATV. later I want to look him up but only remember the ATV part. As far as I can tell the search doesn't include the notes. Is there a way to do that.

HTC Magic : Putting Openhome Themes On An HTC MAGIC Rogers
Aug 18, 2009Sadly, the Android Market in Canada does not have any paid apps. I was just wondering is there any way I can put themes onto my phone? I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).

Dec 5, 2009new to this site as never had any problems with my magic till today, my 2 year old to my horror threw it against the wall and the battery etc fell out, Fortunatly when i examined it there was no damage screen wasnt cracked or damaged or anything, however since ive turned it back on theres safe mode in transparetn writing at the bottom left of the screen and the touch screen doesnt work and every time i go into a process such as say contacts , i get the 'the process android.process.acore has stopped please try again everything works like i say i can go online but obviously without the use of the touch screen i cant type, nor can i send texts due to the lack of touchscreen so what can i do HELP PLEASE Or do i have to face facts and get in touch with my insurance ?

Sep 11, 2009Ght now I have a iPhone 3g and I am tired of how tight apple has it locked up. And I want an android baed phone. So I have my sights on the htc magic. For people that made the switch. Do you honestly like it better? I don't care if it doesn't blow the iPhone out of the water I just want somethin onpar with the iPhone. Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. So I am planning to go with an Rogers htc magic.

HTC Magic :: A Docking / Speaker Thingy For Magic?
Aug 19, 2009I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.
I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

Aug 31, 2009Thanks to my nefu playing around with my phone and trying to unlock my phone with the pattern thing, my htc magic has gone into full lock mode...or whatever it's called. It tells me to sign into gmail to unlock the phone, but when i enter my info it will not sign in. Just to be shure I had all the info right I signed into gmail with my computer and it works, but not with my phone..
