HTC EVO 4G :: Flipswap Getting Cash For Old Cell Phones?
May 29, 2010Does anyone here have any experience with Flipswap getting cash for your old cell phones? Their amounts are a good bit higher than RadioShack's trade-in program for my two old Blackberries but I'm hesitant since I haven't heard much about them.

Aug 21, 2010Been trying to update the radio and apply the latest ota , every time I get to apply the update.zip it runs and eventually stops with something similar to the following:
"Can't apply radio"
(No room on device)
"Can't apply firmware"
(No room on device)
Then I can reboot and I get the new droid screen, new widgets, etc. But no wifi, etc. I've done this about 10 times now so I admit I'm bit foggy after 18 hrs of reading and trying to apply froyo.
General :: Taking Pics With Cell Phones
Jul 9, 2012I was never really big into photography as its kind of expensive, but the camera on my own s3 is pretty awsome. I was wondering if there is a guide anywhere on taking different kinds of pics etc or what the different modes are for with situations. Like I don't know what macro is etc. Just looking forward to taking some cool pictures on my phone and maybe sharing on instagram. I wouldn't mind doing more than auto pics.

HTC Incredible :: Cases For Extended Batteries
May 3, 2010Is it just me or are there no cases once you get an extended battery. Sendo adds 4mm and the OEM adds 1mm. I am guessing that you have the choice between the battery or a case. HTC Incredible : Cheap Atomic Batteries From China
May 6, 2010Before I even ordered my Incredible I ordered a stand alone battery charger and two extra batteries direct from a China supplier on e bay for $14 total. These batteries are Atomic! I'm getting 50% more running time out of them than the factory battery no lie. The batteries are marked HTC Touch Pro 2 but fit the Incredible also.

Aug 10, 2010This is me writing what will amount to about 10 pages (at least that is what I plan) on how batteries work at the basic quantum and chemical level. I have been promising it for some time, and with everything coming to a close for the summer, I have time. So within the next could of weeks (2 or so), I will be filling in posts.
EDIT: I will be adding about 15 or so posts to expand into. I apologize for the over inflation of my post count, but there is no way I am editing 4 or so huge posts. Each section will have its own post or two. If the mods have any problem with it, please take it down and tell me how to do it to your liking, as many people have asked about this thorough walk through and explanation and thus I would like to do it. I honestly have no idea how long this will be as I have no idea the maximum post size. So I am going over and will ask mods to delete unused posts.

Android :: Getting Cell Signal Strength For Current Cell Vs Neighboring Cells
Jan 6, 2010I'm writing an android application that collects cell signal strengths.I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths.To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback.It works, but not very well.It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers.I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better.The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution.So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths?It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell.

Feb 5, 2010I'm a young, inexperienced programmer (I've had a year of Java, some MATLAB, and HTML/CSS in school) but I've decided that to get better, I'm making it my goal to produce a simple smartphone app of some kind this year- probably either webOS or Android since I'm on a PC and can't afford a Mac just to write an iPhone app.
So my question is, where do I start? I've read the threads about How to Write for Android and such, but I'm not sure I have enough Java experience to just jump right in. And then there's webOS which is based on JavaScript, correct?
I guess I'd just like some input from more experienced folks. I have some Barnes and Noble book credit I'm looking to get rid of too, so if there's a guide you think would be useful, feel free to request.
tl;dr: Programming newbie ultimately wants to build a simple smartphone app. Where do I start?

May 7, 2010Well I updated with the official 2.1 but behold when i try to load joeys recovery it refuses to open the bin file. I want to install a custom rom built from his site to remove all the bloat and install live wallpaper etc.I have been reading for 2 hours lol and I can't find a fix.I even tried downloading an older version of swupgrade.

Nov 23, 2010I've read all the threads I could find in here about turning off the cell radio but none have addressed this particular configuration. The reason I want to do this is because I don't use my Incredible for talking, I just use it as a computer. For talking I use a cheap little "dumb phone" so to conserve battery while i'm out n about all day, i would love to be able to have the cell radio off while 3g is on. If anyone knows of any way/app to achieve this.

I think it started monday on my phone and now its mostly running in 1X mode and dropping more calls than I have in the past two years. Jun 22, 2010I was curious where the cell phone antenna for the 1x/3G coverage was located.I live in an area with excellent verizon service and when phone is in standby, the incredible gets one bar.When I make a call, it miraculously gets full coverage.I think its on the bottom of the phone, but is it on the very bottom edge (like where the microphone is) or is it along the back side of the phone.How is the best way to hold the phone to maximize service?

Aug 6, 2010Just yesterday my phone was getting more than 14+ hours of battery. Now it's draining really quickly even when I'm not using it (I left it on while I was asleep). It's not facebook because I already downloading the fix and rebooted. My "time without signal" is 0% so I don't think that's the problem. I did download Quickpedia yesterday but a quick search tells me that's not the problem either.
The only other thing I did differently was switch from ADW to LauncherPro yesterday, but if that was draining the battery wouldn't it be under Android System and not standby or idle? Regardless, I switched back to ADW just to see if that works
