Android :: Ability To Quit An App After Trial Period
Jun 10, 2009I am planning to release a trial version of my app and am looking into best ways to implement the logic. My lite version of the app would have all the features but will be time restricted. I see a couple of issues:
- Currently there is no mechanism built into android that allows an app to be closed. I see that you can close the main acitivity, but the user can always press the back button and go back into the app.
- After trial period, the user can always un-install the app and re- install it. What do I do to prevent this from happening?

Sep 18, 2010I just downloaded this version of Swype maybe two (three?) weeks ago on my 2.2 Froyo Evo phone. After experiencing Swype I would NEVER go back to the old keyboard. Unfortunately, today, I was told my trial version has expired. Now I can only use the Swype keyboard ,but can't 'swype'.

Oct 16, 2010I am very impressed with Swype and just amazed that it is able to correctly guess what I am trying to type most of the time. But I have a question. What is the correct way to add a period? It seems that when i first started using it, if I used a period it would automatically add a space and capitalize the next word. But it doesn't do that now. I get no space or capitalization and have to add the space manually.

Jul 18, 2010Anyone have issues where the touch screen and the buttons become unresponsive for a period for short bursts. I think my phone has had it. I tried restoring it to see if certain apps maybe causing it but that is not the issue. Restored still same problem. it happens about every 5 minutes.

Everything installed fine, but nothing happens when I swype. Manually typing works but when I swype it just shows the line makes a noise and nothing happens.

Nov 8, 2010Does anyone know how Swype updates its dictionary? I know it pulls words from my contacts list, but does it get them from any other source? There are certain words that constantly show up in Swype, even though I have deleted them countless times. "i'd" is a big one. I would never type the word "I" and leave it uncapitalized, and, yet, it somehow keeps reappearing in the dictionary. Certain letter combinations like "nt," "ou," and others continue to show up, even after I've deleted them. That's what has me thinking it's pulling words from something else on the phone. Is there any way to make it stop doing that?

Apr 2, 2010I recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.

Mar 31, 2010Ok! Just a little confused here. Does Swype Lite not work with 2.1 ver.2 leak. I've followed everyones instructions and can even go through the Swype tutorial but the choice of keyboards doesn't show up when I try to send a text or e-mail. All I get is the stock keyboard. Am I doing something seriously wrong here? This is somewhat fustrating because I prefer Swype by leaps and bounds. I'd buy it from the market but it's not available. I know some will send me to other posts with instructions, but I have tried them ALL. I just can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

HTC Droid Eris : Can't See Full Address / Way To Fix
May 2, 2010Here's something I haven't seen addressed before. If I am looking up an address on my phone (2.1 leak v3), there is no way to see the full address. Even in edit mode, I would have to maneuver just to see the whole address.
Am I missing something, or is there some kind of a fix?? I noticed the same issue with 1.5 and hoped that the 2.1 would fix this.
HTC Droid Eris :: Swype / Difficulty In Loop On A Letter?
Jun 18, 2010I upgraded to the new beta of swype and since then have found one minor issue. when i try to loop on a letter to do a double letter like the t in the word letter, i have difficulty doing so. I have to make a very large loop that only crosses over the letter, rather than looping on top of it like i used to be able to do. i'm not sure if this is just something to do with a setting that got changed or if it is a bigger issue.

Mar 8, 2010Swype is really great, BUT: Sometimes I need to write in a language other than English. I found this nearly impossible with swype. It keeps trying to force English words on me. There should be an easy way to prevent swype to offer English (or any) words altogether. I want to be able to use Swype so it takes whatever word I swyped (swope?) in. There should be an easily accessible toggle control to allow this.
