Evo has failed on microphone. In call, other end says they can't hear me. Microphone problem is there any quick trick to make it normal? I want to change the phone but no store has Evo anywhere.

I have a wired headset that plugs into the 3.5mm jack on the phone. I get sound fine through the ear buds, but my microphone isn't working, or at least, I can't find the options to turn it on. I'm running V24 KaosFroyo, I'm going to post in that thread on XDA, but figured I would run a quick check here. I'm using Sony's Amazon.com: Sony MDREX38iP/BLK EX Earbud with iPod Remote Control... by chance anyone know what I should do? besides returning them?

It runs on official chinese ROM remade by Etotalk.com.Everything was working fine, but few days ago, internal memory was full, so I moved some downloaded apps (games) from internal storage to SD card.The day after this microphone got somehow broken - when I call someone, they can't hear me (they actually do, but very very poorly(= very quietly)). When I switch to handsfree, they hear me OK. Also, I'm using Bluetooth headset very often and people can hear me good. Only when I call normally, people can't hear anything.
This is weird, because all moved apps were downloaded, none was built-in. Also, when I record a video, sound is without a problem.
I tried cleaning the microphone turning volume of microphone up/down moving all apps back to internal storage factory reset none of this worked.
Does anybody know of a way to turn your Droid into a microphone via USB? For instance, let's say I want to talk to somebody on Skype from my computer, can I use my Droid as a microphone for them to hear?

(is also quiet after uploaded to YouTube etc.) Is there a way to boost the sensitivity of the microphone? Sound is also very quiet when using one of the voice recorder apps. Speaker on magic is fine (if not very tinny), can hear beebplayer, youtube etc. at reasonable level. Also made sure my fingers are not covering the microphone hole (next to USB port)

Is there a way to adjust this? I was at a concert last night and tried to record a few clips, and when I got home, everything is muffled as hell. I found someone else who posted a video of the concert and was maybe ~15-20' from where I was at, yet theres is clear. I doubt it was from another incredible, but I've had this issue with digital cameras too. Any way I can fix this so I can get some good clips next time i go to a concert?

I'm a little surprised at how little this is being mentioned and I'm also puzzled at why this feature was dropped since on paper it sounds like such a good thing. In Play Magazines as well you the mic icon from Ice Cream Sandwich. The Play Store has (somewhat) recently undergone a significant upgrade when Jelly Bean was at a mature age of version 4.2. It will updated again in time for 4.4 KitKat, evolving into line with current Android design guidelines featuring the sliding navigation drawer. Will Google then update the mic icon or will they revert it back to the ICS style in the future?

I have it set up as the default entry method in Hand cent, but I miss the microphone icon in the touch keyboard, because sometimes "speaking" a text message is convenient. Is there a short cut to use the voice input when using swype, or do I have to hold down on the text entry part and switch to "touch keyboard" each time? If you are using swype and can still use the microphone button, please let me know how.

I was having issues with Gmail and switched to the official RUU and now have no microphone icon. That is an amazing feature! So how do I get it back? Diff keyboard or a feature I am missing? It looks like I cannot root anymore (for a while at least). Anyways just having the microphone icon would suffice I don't have to root per se.

Currently I've taken the following approach (unfortunately - it does not work): 1) register PhoneStateListener to detect when a call is started/ finished 2) when call is started then I start a thread that periodically calls audioManager.isMicrophoneMute() method to discover a microphone status. (audioManager is obtained by calling getSystemService (AUDIO_SERVICE) ) 3) when call is finished I stop a thread started in bullet 2
Unfortunately audioManager.isMicrophoneMute() always returns 'true', does not matter if I select or deselect the 'Mute' option in the menu during a call. Does anybody know if it is possible to detect the state of a microphone during a call?
I've got a male to male 3.5MM connector to plug into my aux port in my stereo of my car. I can stream Pandora, slacker etc, with no problem. HOWEVER, when I initially plug it in, my notification bar shows the headset Icon. After a while however, it turns into the Microphone enabled headset icon and it pulls up the Voice dialer app. This then kill slacker/pandora or anything else I'm running. If I'm able to listen for a while without it messing with the streaming app, once someone calls, then music stops, I can talk handsfree and then it goes back to the music when the call ends. But then almost immediately, the voice dialer app is brought back up and I'm back in the same situation where everything dies.
