is there anyway to make the flash stay on when taking a video? i tried taking a video in a bar that was dark and i was hoping that i could get the flash to say on and use as a spot light.

I successfully followed the instructions to upgrade to Froyo and got the Root done. I also updated my radio to the new one. Before I upgraded from 2.1 I could play a song using the media player and then open up the camcorder and take a video and the music would keep playing in the background as kind of the background music for whatever I was recording. After the update to Froyo now when I have a song playing and I open up the camcorder, the music stops.
Now I figure that this is the way that most of you guys want it. But I was having one hell of a time playing some Rolling Stones and having my girlfriend lipsync to the entire thing. We were making some great and funny videos. So my question is, is there any way to get the music player to stay on. Is anyone aware of any settings there are for this. I am probably going to roll back to 2.1 anyway and wait for the official OTA, but I figure this won't work the way that I want it to when it comes out officially either.
Quick question on the HTC EVO, on the front facing camera isn't it suppose to have a flash when taking pics at night? i could of swore mine did.

I can get the light to come on in video mode but just want to use as flash.

Cut a small 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch square of black tape and place it over the light sensor in the upper left corner just to the left of the verizon logo and the soft key lights stay on when the screens on and they turn off when you turn the screen off. Works perfectly and really doesn't look that bad.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOn one of the home screens or scenes, whatever, i had put the 30 day month view HTC calendar widget. it synced with the Google calendar just fine and there was a little triangle in the upper left corner of the box for the days that had an event. however, they only stay once i reload the widget. and after a little while they go away, but if i pick a day, my events are still there. i really like that the little triangle. how do i make it stay? is there another app or widget that will allow a full month view with the little triangle or similar mark for days with events?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI frequently find myself using the MAPS app (not the navigation) but after a few moments the screen turns off. Is there an easy way to make the screen stay on when I am using maps. Perhaps a "stay on app" or a setting somewhere. This is an issue in the car when I'm using the map and the screen keeps turning off, I know I can manually set the timeout up to 30 minutes but that's a pain and I have to remember to set it back afterwards.

1) How can I make my phone not turning on the screen when it is locked and i get an sms (via the built it messages app), but light the led light with a custom color (and of course, play a tone). I've tried "LightFlow" but it didn't work, the screen has still gone on when I got an sms.Mention that with 3rd party apps (e.g. whatsapp and wunderlist) the thing works great, the screen is black, the led is on, and the air molecules near the speaker start oscillating harmonically.
2) I know that even without any sdk manipulation, my phone still lets me move some downloaded apps to the sd. I had downloaded a 1.5 GB game and kept in mind that I use 3.5 GB of my internal storage. Luckily enough, this game is movable. I moved it to the sd card, and after the process had been done, I checked how much storage I use on my internal storage - 3.5 GB.The button changed to "Move to device storage" but it seemed that the game had not transfered at all.Mention that I tried the "adb shell pm setinstalllocation 2" thing, and it didn't fix it, so I reversed the process with the "adb shell pm setinstalllocation 0" command.
Frankly, I'm fine with the video quality. It could be a lot better but I don't use my phone for anything serious. The audio quality is horrid. I pulled a video into MediaCoder to find out why. That is 12.8kbps at 8,000hz sampling rate. To put this in perspective; A low quality MP3 is 64kbps at 44.1khz (44,100hz). That is 5 times the bit rate and more than 5 times the sampling rate.
A decent quality MP3 is at the very least 128kbps. The audio that the Evo camcorder app is 1/5th the quality of a crappy MP3. This is a rather simple software fix. I'm not a programmer but I know how audio and video codecs work and I see no reason for this limitation. The phone can record excellent quality audio. Just download a recording app and try it. HTC or a third party developer needs to get on this. The reason the video is a bit jerky is that it is recorded at 10.01 FPS...
Is there a way to turn off the flash and/or the shutter sound of the camera when taking a picture?
Flash Mode says auto under it, but the box is grayed out and I cannot select it to change it.
This is the same for the auto focus feature, I am unable to select that as well.

However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?

Just got the phone and loving it so far but im having major issue's with You Tube, Most video's take about 5 mins to load in low quality and in high quality it can take upto 30 mins or more which of course by that time the phone locks and the video has to restart again.
Any suggestions as to why it takes so long? Also is there a setting for video's to automatically start in high quality? And for the phone not to lock?
Do you know how I can make the light behind the 4 symbols at the bottom of the screen (home, menu, back and search) stay on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Note2 with the TW-based Digiblur rom and am having trouble when playing HTML5 player videos in the stock web browser. Any time a video plays, instead of timing out like they are supposed to, the navigation softkeys on the device stay lit while the video is playing. If I pause or stop the video, everything goes back to normal and the keys time out like they are supposed to. The problem is not present in any video player application, including the stock YouTube client.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone died in the middle of taking video. Came home a couple hours later, plugged my phone into the charger. I turned the phone on, after it was plugged in. My phone froze during the little HTC and Hero intro. After the freeze, it was back on, but my screens were all back to factory settings! It also asked me to calibrate my keyboard, and the little popup bubbles to guide the user with their "new phone" came up! All my apps were gone!! I lost ALL of my contacts! The only thing that stayed was my pictures and videos. It doesn't make any sense to me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDon't know if anyone knew this but if you download the LED Desire light from the app store, use the app first to leave the LED lights on and go to your video recorder. You can now record video in the dark and have somewhat clarity with the LED lights on. Granted it would probably be a big energy waster, but atleast you know have a choice.
View 5 Replies View RelatedTo do this, simply download "LED Desire Light" in the market, then enable the light after install. Now press the home button and bring up the camera. Set to video and voila! You've got a nice video flashlight for night capturing. Just be sure to go back to the LED Desire Light prog to disable it after use.
