General :: Device Navigation Softkeys Stay Lit During Stock Browser HTML5 Video Playback

I'm using the Note2 with the TW-based Digiblur rom and am having trouble when playing HTML5 player videos in the stock web browser. Any time a video plays, instead of timing out like they are supposed to, the navigation softkeys on the device stay lit while the video is playing. If I pause or stop the video, everything goes back to normal and the keys time out like they are supposed to. The problem is not present in any video player application, including the stock YouTube client.

I entered the Android world with a Nexus 7 (2012) edition recently.
I create some webpages which I want to make sure that it works in HTML5 browsers. The way I go about the testing is, I first create the webpages in my laptop, copy the folder to my Nexus 7, and open the index.html in the browser.
Now, I heard that Google Chrome is a HTML5 browser. But I am unable to open my html file in that when I open it from File Manager. I tried Dolphin Browser, but it crashes the moment it opens.
So, is there any other HTML5-only browser I can use for this purpose?

i usually use Opera but its not working on the current ICS rom I'm using on my G2x, so in every ones eyes what's the best browser that supports Flash and HTML5 in your opinion and why, the current stock browser isn't cutting it for me.

Been struggling with this since receiving my X. Seems like no matter what player I use the playback is jerky. It's very subtle, almost as if the video is dropping a frame or so every second. I've tried the stock player, Astro, Rockplayer, mPlayer, Zimly, Act, and the list goes on and the problem still persists.
I've encoded (using handbrake) with all of the settings suggested on the boards and have tweaked things on my own trying to find the proper setting, but still no luck. The strange and frustrating thing is that the exact same files play just fine on my 1st gen iPod touch (clearly an inferior piece of hardware) and on my wife's incredible. These encodes are of standard def DVDs at average settings (a full movie is about 1.3gb, all h.264 mp4 files.
I was able to improve playback by rebooting the X and then playing the video, but this doesn't seem like an acceptable solution every time I want to watch something. I tend to encode and watch a lot of stuff on my commute to/from work, and I'd really like to replace my touch with the X, but the media capabilities are falling way short. Considering switching to the Inc as I know it's able to play my media properly, but I'd prefer to keep the X for the larger screen size (though the Inc does seem to feel better when using one-handed). I'm on the fence right now, but if the X can't function as expected then it might be going back. Unfortunately I only have until the 1st to return it so I don't think I can hold out and see if 2.2 fixes this issue.

-On my laptop (Win 7), add my Android (Galaxy Nexus 4.0.3) as a playback device. My phone is connected to my bookshelf speaker setup that is in the same room but not near my desk. So when I am playing music on my laptop, let it be Pandora or Google music streams, I would like the sound to be played from the phone that is connected to the speakers.
I have looked at two possible approaches:
1) Remote control the phone and use the Google Music app on the android to play the songs. Essentially control the phone from PC. I did not find a suitable app for that one
2)Use the phone as a playback device on the Win 7.

I have a javascript that plays audio in the browser, using the html5 <audio> tag. It works fine in the iPhone browser, but not in Android. (Testing using a htc desire with android 2.1.) Anyone know why?By the way, I am also trying to enlarge the audio button that shows up in the iphone (the default one is quite small), with no luck so far - would be grateful for any ideas!

I recently switched to CM7 on my Galaxy S I9000 and it seems I lost all the codecs Samsung bundled with their phone. Video playback is choppy and buggy. I have Googled for possible solutions and tried most of the available players on the market but the problem remains. So how do other non-Samsung Android phone owners cope with this situation?

Whenever I use my browser (Boat Browser or all the others I've tried) to watch videos, I no longer have the option to "Open" or "Download" the file, it just automatically plays in the built in media player.. I want to use MX Player..I used to have the option of what to do with the video, but same thing happening with built in player..I have made sure all defaults were cleared, and I even tried uninstalling the Gallery that is linked with the camera.. No luck.
I'm running 4.3 on my tablet, and still have the option so obviously it is a 4.4 issue, and not a browser issue.

I am currently using an HTC Sensation (with Snapdragon S3) and with h.264 videos, the limit for my phone is effectively at 1080p h.264 high profile level 5.1 with bit rate less than 10 Mbit/s. On my friend's One X, Tegra 3 can easily play 1080p videos up to 40 Mbit/s, which is very impressive. If the video playback capability of the Snapdragon S4 is on par with Tegra 3? Do you manage to get 40 Mbit/s videos to play on S4?

I have been running my xperia U (rooted) on the old gingerbread for sometime now, finally bit the bullet and unrooted it and upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 via SCC. I quite like ICS its smoother and the phone runs faster (although battery life now suffers) the only issue i am having is I cant play videos on my phone; this includes camera video in the gallery and embedded videos on the browser. I have factory reset about 100 times still hasnt worked and have tried installing adobe air, flash etc still nothing. When i click on a video in the gallery for example i try touching the play button but nothing happens, the thumbnail and video still image is fine just there is no response from touching the play button.

I'd like to install an Android device (tablet, smartphone, computer or whatever) into my car.
The purpose is to listen to internet radios and to be able to switch between those radios using my toyota car player which handles bluetooth/A2DP/avrcp .The app I would use is xiialive. This device would have his own sim card and should stay in the car. I don't want to plug the device each time I enter in my car, push any button or whatever. I would just like that the fact to put the key in my car would connect automatically to a webradio.
In fact I don't really need to see the screen, the device could stay hidden somewhere inside the car.Here are the features I would like :
- auto boot when I turn on the car, which means when the device receives power from the usb port (my car has an usb port)
- plug an external antenna to get a better reception while driving. I'm thinking of a small android computer with a 3G stick plugged in. I have a 3G stick with an external antenna slot. Or any smartphone with an external antenna slot, but I haven't found one so far.
- eventually auto power down when I turn off the car, but If the device shutdowns when the battery is empty, it could be ok too

For whatever reason every browser I try reloads tabs when I leave the browser. It's REALLY annoying - I'm stuck on edge most of the time, and finding out that my tabs suddenly reload just because I switched to twitter for a second.
I tried to pretty much disable the LMK, and it still did this...
I tried Chrome, Browser Plus, stock ICS browser, Dolphin and Opera (which does this slightly less often) Last time I had this problem was on my old tablet with only 256 MB of RAM. (Which still did this less often than the Note on ICS)
Every time this happened, I had at least 120 MB of ram free. Seriously, the note has a full gigabyte of ram, and yet this happens.
This doesn't happen to me on GB.
Is there anything I can do to make browsing normal again? Like, exclude a browser from getting killed, or something? I'm using a Galaxy Note..

I'm piecing together a cheapo app that amongst other things "frames" some of our websites... Pretty simple with the WebViewClient... until I hit the video.
The video is done as HTML5 elements, and these work fine and dandy on Chrome, iPhones, and now that we fixed the encoding issues it works great on Android... in the native browser.
Now the rub: WebView doesn't like it. At all. I can click on the poster image, and nothing happens.
Googling, I found http://www.codelark.com/2010/05/12/android-viewing-video-from-embedded-webview/ which is close, but seems to be based on a 'link' (as in a href...) instead of a video element. (onDownloadListener does not appear to get invoked on video elements...)
I also see references to overriding onShowCustomView, but that seems to not get called on video elements... nor does shouldOverrideUrlLoading..
I would rather not get into "pull xml from the server, reformat it in the app".. by keeping the story layout on the server, I can control the content a bit better without forcing people to keep updating an app. So if I can convince WebView to handle tags like the native browser, that would be best.

I have now TN Shooter Rom on my evo 4g and i've noticed that when i record video on portrait the video playback is stretched out, seems to be fine when i record video holding the phone in landscape.
I've also tried flashing another Rom but the same thing happens.

Currently I can have playback controls on the lock screen of my idevices, as you can see in the screenshot below. Pandora is one example on when I would use this. How can do this same thing on my android device? I currently have a Galaxy Tab 2 7" & I'll be getting the GS3 soon.

is there a fix for the Sluggish / Slow HD Video playback on devices with Kitkat ?
first I though that it was my Gnex since it doesn't have official kitkat support and etc
but then my brothers Nexus5 is experiencing the same problem
playing 1080p videos is slow , sluggish , dropping frames and etc...
already tried different players , MX Player , Dice Player , Bsplayer and etc..

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII 4G, love this phone. However I have some issues when it comes to flash and streaming video stuff. I can seem to watch youtube videos just fine but trying to go to other sites that have flash or streaming videos, it just doesn't play at all. Also some sites with flash will only show up with a green arrow in the area where there's supposed to be a video. I have downloaded Adobe flash and Flash AIR. Have tried multiple browsers with all having the same problems. I am also having this problem on my Viewsonic G-Tablet.

I'm trying to get an html5 demo page working on Android 2.1, have tried both droid and nexus one with 2.1 but they only display the poster image, and do not play the video. Pressing on the video does not do anything. Resolved with the onclick handler on the video tag. Is it possible to use html5 video in the android 2.1 browser at this time? My demo page is working for both the iphone and the ipad.
The mp4 video: avc1, 29.97 fps, 380 kbps, 480 x 370
Audio: mp4a, 44 kHz, 64 kbps

Allshare video playback from other devices over wifi just stopped working. It was totally fine and I have absolutely no idea what happened. It still plays music and shows photos and all the files stored on external devices. The only problem is that it won't play video. It plays video stored locally or on sd card just fine, but when I want to play anything from my note 2 (n7105) or my pc's allshare app, video player shows error message: "Cannot play video. This video cannot be played".
It plays the same files just fine, when I copy them to the device, so I think it might be the case of some transcoding error. It is not a case of network settings - I've checked on 4 different wifi networks and it's the same everywhere. My note 2 works just fine on any wifi and plays all video from tablet or pc. Here is what I tried so far, with no results:
1. Restoring to factory defaults,
2. Wiping cache and dalvik cache,
3. Flashing fresh stock rom,
4. Erasing all allshare apps and video player data
N8020 & N7105 (JB 4.1.2 rooted + stock)

I am using the Alcatel OT-918d (stock rom, root access enabled) and while playing videos in the browser, I do not get an action prompt to choose from the available video players and browser plays the video using "default video player".
The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)
