HTC Incredible :: Handcent Update Always Trying To Download In Market
Sep 1, 2010Market always tells me there's a handcent update. I think I may have shut my rooted 2.2 Incredible down during an update or something.
Now it is always showing "Downloading"
If I hit cancel download I get a Market FC. I uninstalled handcent, went to reinstall it, and the only button Ii have is still "Cancel Download" even though I uninstalled Handcent.
Android :: Handcent SMS And Quick Settings Missing From Market?
Jun 4, 2010Can anyone verify this? Myself and several other EVO owners have reported that they aren't showing up on both rooted and non-rooted phones. I downloaded both of them last week when I got my EVO, but I had to factory reset for root, and now I can't find them. Could someone test it out?

But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

Apr 29, 2010I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

Apr 7, 2011I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.

Android :: Upgrade Non-market App With A New Market Version
Sep 15, 2010I am developping (for my company) an app included on a project that will have 2 versions:
- 1st simple version to download using a OTA server, clients accesss to an URL to download.
- 2nd version more complex to be published on the Market.
The question here is that the process to publish on the Android Market is under bureaucratic internal process and it takes a long time, so the idea do reduce the time to market is to provide an OTA version.
There is any possibility for users that download application via OTA to upgrade the application for version published later on the Market? (Both Application will be signed with the same key).
Motorola Droid :: Lost Market Apk - Need Market App
Jul 14, 2010I've been rooted with Droid Mod forever and have never had any issues or never tried other roms it worked so I've stayed with it. Anyway I was screwing around trying to fix a problem and did a nandroid back up and and restore ( i'm clueless) Did not wipe info (that scares me) and I reflashed the rom a couple times because I kept selecting or deselecting the wrong things. Finally got everything perfect. The phone seemed to like the mini overhaul. But when I rebooted the market apk is gone. No where to be found. All my apps are there but no icon for market. Its just gone. Can I get that, download it desktop, mount, and drag to phone somewhere?

Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.

Nov 18, 2010I've just noticed that the Android Market shows a blank page with the message 'No matching content in Android Market'. Yet when I go to specific sections of the Market or do a search, one is able to download and install applications and games just fine. I've only just noticed this happening in the last few days. I'm using an unlocked UK version Galaxy S but my location is Inner Mongolia, China. Would this have anything to do with Android Market not showing content on the front page? The S itself is loaded with Froyo, as downloaded from the XDA forums.

Aug 21, 2009I've just downloaded the app to the HTC Hero. It works well, the only issue I have is that when it notifies me of a message it shows the number I have on the screen and when I go in and read the message then delete and close the program, it still shows the same number when it shouldn't have any number since I deleted my messages. Is this a problem with the Hero or some type of bug in the program?

Jun 17, 2010First let me say that the Handcent SMS application is a much better messaging app than the stock app that comes with the EVO. However, the app is a battery hog and was draining my battery at a rate of almost 8 % per hour. Reason I know this is because prior to installing this app, my battery life was great. After installing the app, battery drain was really bad. Decided to uninstall the app yesterday and back to about 2% drain per hour which is what I had prior to installing the app. So for those of you with poor battery life, pay attention to what apps you may have recently installed as some of them are not optimized for battery consumption.

Jun 14, 2010I picked up my Droid on 6/5 and downloaded the latest Handcent that evening.Handcent is what the stock Messaging app should have been.However, I've noticed some problems with Handcent, and I'm very interested in another app.For one, it will intermittently split the messages when it shouldn't.In other words, it will take a message that is under 160 characters and send it out in two or three different messages. Not good.Two, I opened up the thread between my wife and I.I went to Batch mode so I could select which messages in the thread to be deleted. After selecting most of them, I then hit Delete selected. Every single message on the phone was deleted. I even went into the stock Messaging app and sure enough, they were all gone. Terrible.So,what else is out there besides Handcent? I'm completely fine with having to pay for the app, as long as it isn't buggy and it has the features of Handcent.

Oct 27, 2009I've just downloaded handcent sms for my hero and am so far pretty impressed with its features apart from the fact that every time I receive an sms I get 2 notifications and 2 copies of the message - 1 in hancent and 1 in the original sms application. My question is how do I set handcent as my default sms receiver and get rid of the original from my homescreen? I have a shortcut on my homescreen which still shows that i have messages even though I've read them in handcent, and I don't know how to get rid of the original app from there.

Jun 17, 2010I have had no problems sending mms on the EVO until tonight. I sent two picture MMS today no problem. However, tonight I am unable to get anything out. I've tried turning my wifi off, but i can't send either way. I just get the cycling circular "working" icon to the left of the message and nothing happens. Jul 28, 2010I've noticed that if I try to send a text at the same time as receiving one in handcent, I always get a "message failed to send" error. As to whether the message is actually sent later, I have no clue.
Is this a Sprint issue, or a handcent one? I'd like to fix it, but I really don't want to go back to the stock Android Messaging app...
