I had been hearing that it may have been because of Handcent SMS but I removed it and it still moves slow. Text messaging, moving to home screen, etc. Things just move very slow. How can I fix this?

I have been reading a lot on this issue since my 3 week old Eris has started moving the home screens and cursors to the far left but only when charging. Is there a fix to this I can do myself? I know if I go to Verizon (corp store) they will offer to replace it with a FRU model (refurb) and I will not have that since this phone is brand new. Since being a Verizon customer for 4 years I have had FRU replacements all resulting in a replacement phone that has even more issue's than the one it replaced which then resulted in a multi model FRU to a new phone (Samsung Gleam (2 replacements) to a new Env2 (3 Env's) then to an new LG voyager that lasted 2 years.What worries me is that Verizon has dropped the Eris and if I cant get a new Eris replacement I know they are going to throw the cinder block sized Moto Droid at me.

Has anyone else been experiencing this. Sometimes when I click on the Home Screen button, it doesn't always go to the home screen, it might go to the screen to the right or left of it.
also sometimes when I lock the phone and then when I unlock it, it doesn't always go to the home screen. it might jump around.
Sometimes when I hit the home screen or down error right above it, the desk clock appears.
this is all very strange, just wondering what all of your thoughts are. Could it be a particular app that I downloaded.
I want the incoming message to show up on the home page when it is first received, like the iphone does, it covers a good portion of the screen, for a few seconds even when the phone is asleep, then it goes away until you wake it up. I tried Handcent and I'm now using ChompSMS. With Chomp you get this tiny little ticker at the top of the screen, that is all. Is it possible to have that feature with this phone?

A couple of days ago, the "Phone" icon suddenly appears on the left-most home screen rather than on the center one. Today, I discovered that I had 2 Gmail icons on my home screen. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm Running 2.2, CyanogenMod 6.0.0, using a Chevyno1 LV 1.0 ghz kernel with FRG22D.My home screens take forever to load after i do anything, from checking a text message, to reading the news on an app. It takes about 4 or 5 seconds to have all my widgets and icons load up. I'm OCing it to 1.0 ghz and it still loads slow. My phone performs fast overall except for this. I have five screens on my Launcher Pro home, and each one has just one widget. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? Can I clear any caches?
View 27 Replies View RelatedWhen I open up messaging on my home screen, it's pretty slow and choppy. I have about 10 threads open with about 3,000 txts total. I delete most pictures and animations I receive, to save memory, but I like to keep my text txts. It's slow when I scroll down through my threads, and it takes a second or two to open up a thread, regardless if it has 10 txts in it, or 2,000. Anyone else have this problem? I should add that it did not improve after the update. I wonder if I'm low on memory overall, but I have 87M free according to my advanced task killer app. I get what seems to be a glitch too, when I get a text message and it appears at the status bar at the top, sometimes it shows the same text three or four times, at random intervals. Sometimes it just shows it once, like it should?

View 6 Replies View RelatedLet me preface this by saying I am a 48-hours deep Android NOOB, so I apologize if the solution to this is something unbelievably simple that I have just overlooked. I don't think it is, because I am very experienced with WinMo, BB, and WebOS and don't usually pull NOOB type moves.
So, I have a Droid Eris. Actually, I have two. Well, I have one and she has one, anyway. I have had no trouble with hooking mine up to the computer with USB, mounting it, and moving files back and forth. One of the first things I did was load files on.
When I try and hook hers up, I plug it in with the same USB cable (one of the cables that came with them, btw), mount it, and nothing happens. It isn't recognized by the computer. The first time I did this with her phone, I had a little balloon pop up on the task bar that said something about "installing HTC Dream".
If I go to my computer tho, nothing is there that could be the phone. I checked my device manager in the control panel, and under "ADB Interface" i have HTC Dream listed. This is as far as I have gotten with this. This all came about because she couldn't figure out how to set the theme song from the office as her tone for text messaging. I hooked it up to the computer to try and see if I could move the file into a different folder to try and set it, and ran into this f-stick of a problem.
Im new to HTC. I am actually very satesfide with my eris. Except for just recently. My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. It presses random buttons by its self :/ seems to me theres a senor/ touch problem. How can i fix all this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt works and all, but it's kinda weird. It's like the Droid has a diff way of putting together picture messages (like w/ .gif files and such). There's usually a pause, then it starts, but each transition is slow and then after it shows, you then get whatever messaged was typed in. My g/f sends me stuff from her LG Dare, and it's all put together as it should be. It's been this way for both the stock messenger and Handcent. Is there a preference option I need to tweak?

I will be on the Main home screen and then it will start jumping Home screens as if I'm swiping to the left but I'm NOT swiping! Once it is on the last screen to the left it won't let me switch back to HOME. I can almost never do anything when this happens. I haven't dropped the phone. I've reset the G-Sensor. Has anyone experianced this? I've even done a Wipe of the device.

Would this be a ROM issue? Maybe an issue with Launcher Pro Beta? When I hit my home screen button, it takes a few seconds for my shortcuts and widgets to load. I really like LPB but am not liking how long it's taking to load. I set it as my only launcher in my ROM that I made so I can't go into another launcher and see if it's slow, does anyone think that could be the culprit?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've had my Eris for a good while now and just started to have some problems. The other night, I tried to flash a new rom and can't move my trackball in the Amon Recovery menu. I have read that on here and there are some other issues involving that.
Secondly, I was just using my phone today and noticed that when at my home screen, my phone would just slide to the left 2 screens. The trackball would move by itself. When I'm in my browser the trackball moves by itself also. It just scrolls down to the next link.
When I type my cursor jumps all over the place. If I leave the cursor sit for a couple seconds the cursor jumps to the left to the beginning of the message.
I am rooted usng Froyo 34 and updated on Android 2.2
So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

This gets really annoying when using apps that require such actions. Anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe an app that's causing it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Hero, rooted, latest Cyanogen with LauncherPro Plus. But I don't know if it's a rooted issue so I posted here. Sometimes scrolling slows to a crawl, sometimes it takes a minute to go back to the home screen, LauncherPro crashes a lot, the lock screen takes a few seconds to unlock. Other times all of that zips through. It's maddening About 24 megs of free storage on phone. What could it be? And the phone reboots a lot on its own also.
