HTC Hero :: Handset Turned Itself Off And On Again
Aug 3, 2010I was sitting there last night and my HTC hero was on the table when I heard it vibrate. When I picked it up it was turning itself off. It then turned itself back on again and everything was fine. Bit odd I was wondering if they do this from time to time to sort of update itself a bit like restarting a computer?

May 31, 2014I have made an Android based arcade machine that I want to sell to operators. They are accustomed to having an arcade machine boot up from one switch, and they also like to be able to leave that switch on so they can just turn on and off all machines with a surge protector switch or light switch. It doesn't seem possible to just have a simple binary ON/OFF switch for the K-R42, so I have to do it by having everything hooked up to a surge protector. Problem is that if I turn off the Android box by turning off the surge protector, I can't turn it back on that way. I'd like to find a way to have the Android device power on automatically from the off state when electricity is restored (sort of like the turn on after power failure option in Windows BIOS). I had read that this may be doable in the BOOTLOADER, is that true?

First and foremost at random times my 3G is turned off even though I haven't turned it off...go into the setting and it says its still on. Only way to turn it back on is to turn it off and then turn it back on? Any ideas just a problem with the phone maybe. Didn't know if anyone has encountered this problem
Second is there and application that I can use that will let me select what things will startup with a reset of the phone? Also is there an easy way to reset the phone without a battery pull? I just like to do this when Unistalling apps and installing apps...always seems faster after downloading or Unistalling after I do this.

Dec 31, 2011I've just started having a problem with my MyTouch 4G in which it won't charge while the phone is switched on. The battery charging symbol displays but the battery % slowly decreases. I have tried using a different battery but no luck. If I go into "battery usage" in settings it says that Wifi & Cellular Idle are the 2 biggest users with 29% each. The strange thing is that these 2 are always using 29% even if I turn Wifi off and put the phone on flight mode. Another user had a similar problem and it turned out to be an app using buttloads of power but I can't identify any on mine doing this. I've done a virus scan.

Aug 4, 2010I don't know what to do. I tried to make a call this morning and it kept disconnecting, even though it was showing signal. So I decided to turn it off. This took over 15mins. Finally it went off. I switched it back on to find it will only make Emergency calls and I don't know why.
I've turned it off multiple times now, even taken the battery out etc and nothing works. Its been very slow the last couple of days, and frozen a couple of times. I've only had the phone 3 weeks from new (T-Mobile!)
Android :: Alarm Not Works When Phone Turned Off?
Jul 16, 2010I am am recent migrant from Blackberry. One of the nice things on the BB was that when you set the alarm, you can switch the BB off overnight and be sure that at the set alarm time, the BB wakes and the alarm goes off. The alarm on the HTC Desire does not seem to do that - i.e. when I turned it off overnight it did not wake when the alarm should have gone off. I tried a couple of other alarm apps and no luck. Is there an alarm app for my requirement? Or is this not possible with an Android phone?

Oct 24, 2010I have the HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 Touch and I still do not have the latest firmware 2.1 update on it. I've got as far as changing the year to 2013 and it brings up the request to update the phone. I select to update it and it turns off my phone to install.
It then loads but stops half-way and it just shows a white triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle with an image of a phone underneath. The update does not continue from there. I've tried it at least 4 times and it's done the same every time.

Each time I want to install the new version of the app on the device I need to connect it, enable USB Debugging, install the app, disable USB Debugging, unplug the device (optional). I was wondering if it was safe to just unplug the device without disabling USB Debugging. After all, the device is not mounted, right? But there is the adb, talking to it. Mar 1, 2010I turned my screen on put in my lock pattern and my phone turned off anyone know why this would happen? Couple things you should know.
1) I searched the forums and found nothing about this if there is please give me a link and a mod can close this thread.
2) I had to do a battery pull to turn it back on because it wouldn't respond to the power button.
3) I don't use a task killer.
4) This has never happened to me before.
5) The battery had 51% power left.

Nov 21, 2010I turn my Ally off for the night, plug it in to recharge & it turns itself back on. So, I turn it off again &, back on it comes! I want the thing off so it does not make any alert-noises and bother those within earshot. I suppose I could put it on Silent, but, come-on! This should be an allowed thing to do to a phone. Why in hell would it ever be set up to come back on when I deliberately just turned it off!
Note: "Stay Awake" under "Development" is not checked.

Nov 18, 2013I bought an HTC First a few weeks ago ( I think lol) and love it so far. So earlier today at school I was on my phone, and nothing was wrong. I put it in my pocket and about 20 minutes later I pulled it back out and it was dead. Odd, because it was almost full before. So I thought, whatever I'll charge it at home. So after school I put it on charge and the red light wasn't blinking. I gave it around 30 minutes and still nothing. It's been a few hours and still, it isn't charging or turning on. I tried holding power/vol+/vol- for more than 2 minutes. I have warranty but HTC said if I send it in I'll be forced to pay to replace the screen too, which has a TINY crack on the corner .
