I have a Samsung captivate and was trying to do an update on it. The screen turned black and then turned off. I tried taking the battery out and restarting it, but now it wont even turn on. I have never done an update until tonight.

coming from a first gen behold . Im happy to have upgrade to android .The only problem i have had so far is when i turned the phone off and try to restart it would freeze and have the android logo replay but never get to the home screen. Had to force recover mode 3 times. I'm guessing some app that force the phone to stay awake might be causing this . Can some please tell me if this is the cause or is there something else wrong with my phone.

1 Day/Night before I experienced the shutoff, the following were installed:
- Used my own wallpaper jpeg instead of one from the Captivate's stock wallpaper folder
- Beautiful Widgets
- AppBrain App Market
- Fast Web Installer
- Angry Birds Lite Beta (APK FILE, USED ANDROID CENTRAL'S SIDELOADER MACHINE)
- Paper Toss
I've had my phone for exactly 1 week, and after reading all the horror stories of people experiencing the random shut offs, I thought I was lucky up until now. I love this phone a lot despite the obvious GPS issues. Does anyone have any idea on what may be causing this? Hardware or Software issue?I would hate to exchange it for another with AT&T since I've become so attached to it.
Since 3 years I had upgraded my Android 2.1 Flytouch 10.1 Tablet into Flytouch 2.2. #3245 version, without any major problems.
My only problem was that I was not able to use Titanium back up and some other apps unless I was rooted, so after many attempts.I succeeded to root it and to be able to use it. Until the time I decided to upgrade my BusyBox to the latest version. After that I rebooted.my tablet with success but only for once because since then it freezes at start up.
I was using my captivate last night and the 3g and browser suddenly turned off. I restarted the phone several times and let is sit all last night and all of today. I recently tried again but its still not up. I have no 3g or 2g (edge) I can still receive texts and call but nothing to do with the browser. I've tried flight mode and everything else I could think of but nothing is working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am developing a ToDo reminder type of app for android. on creation of a new reminder an alarm and vibrator scheduler is created with a toast. This works on intents and broadcasts and is pretty straight forward stuff with putextras using the reminder id from the db. My problem is, if some one restart the phone, i guess all the scheduled alarm and vibrator tasks for the reminder will be killed. Once the phone restart again how to recreate the scheduler tasks.

This is my first post and it comes with some questions:
First and foremost at random times my 3G is turned off even though I haven't turned it off...go into the setting and it says its still on. Only way to turn it back on is to turn it off and then turn it back on? Any ideas just a problem with the phone maybe. Didn't know if anyone has encountered this problem
Second is there and application that I can use that will let me select what things will startup with a reset of the phone? Also is there an easy way to reset the phone without a battery pull? I just like to do this when Unistalling apps and installing apps...always seems faster after downloading or Unistalling after I do this.
Back when the Evo first came out, it was possible to turn off the Sense UI and use the stock Android. This option was deleted after the first update. Does anyone know if the option has been restored with the Froyo update?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI didn't have this situation until Twix and now, DOTS. When I check "Battery use", I see a bunch of programs in there, without turning them on or using them like Android OS, Media, Swype, Market, Dialer ... In Twiz, even when wifi is on, it won't actually connect unless I manually connect it and it disconnects when the screen is automatically turned off. I had great battery life.
I drained the battery and recharged before I flashed ODIN. I pretty much did everything the same way as the previous times I flashed a new rom. I drained the battery again but that didn't seem to help.
I installed Advanced Task Killer. A while after I kill selected apps (a long list), the apps tend to turn on on their own. I had unchecked "Background data" but that didn't help either. Wifi connects unless I literally turn it off. (That wasn't the case.)
Is there a few check marks that I miss?

Now after the update - my text notification ringer goes off when I plug in and unplug the charger. I tried turning off the "Notification Ringtone" - and that worked to kill the charger plug/unplug sound - but it also turned off the ring when I get an incoming text. That just will not work - turning that on and off all the time. Is there a way to just disable the sound when the charger is plugged/unplugged?

When this is on my battery will drain to 10-15% overnight, just sleeping. With this 1 thing off, my battery was at 77% when I got up this morning. WTFudge is this thing, and how do I make it stay off because it turns itself back on after I turn on the phone? Again I have brightness set to max, power saving off yet when my battery level gets really low, the darn phone insists that the brightness should be less, and decreases it for me automatically.

My connection will turn blue, but it won't connect. I tried restarting the phone, restored the connections, and set up wifi again. I've turned wifi on and off multiple times.
