HTC EVO 4G :: Entering Text In Some Web Forms Slow

Sep 19, 2010

Has anyone else seen this? Inputting things into short fields, like phone numbers, usernames, and emails is fine, but entering text into larger fields is extremely laggy. I wanted to do this post from my phone a little while ago, but it was like the keyboard was under water as I typed at normal speed...like it couldn't keep up with me at all. I could actually stop typing and watch one letter pop up every second until it had cought up with the typing I had just done.

Tapping out SMS's or emails is fine, it just seems to be the large text fields (like the one I'm using right now on my PC) that give the phone trouble...I'm on an EVO with stock 2.2 and multi-touch keyboard (Droid X).

Nexus :: Entering Text In Bubbles

Jan 10, 2010

What happens on the Nexus when you want to enter text into a bubble on a web page or in the calender app while in landscape mode?On the Droid, if I'm in Calender, and I add a new event and use the virtual keyboard in landscape mode, the only way to see what the box actually is and what the next box will be, is to use the physical keyboard. If I'm using the virtual keyboard, I just get a box, and a key that says "next" to the right. It makes entering data more difficult (you're not sure what field you're filling out and what the next field will be).I'm one of the guys that was waiting for the Passion and got the Droid because I had to switch to Verizon. The way the Android OS seems to be setup, a physical keyboard almost seems necessary to make certain tasks easier.

Android :: Have Auto-fill Function For Web Forms?

Jul 16, 2009

I've been thinking about getting the HTC Magic for a while. However, what really makes or breaks the decision is whether Android has an auto-fill function for web-forms or not. By this I am thinking of the same kind of functionality that you find in certain PC or Mac Internet browsers/plug-ins where you can save a "form template" that you use to fill in several other forms with the same fields in them as the original one (and the saved template). Is this a standard functionality in the Android OS or is there any application out there that can give me this possibility?

Android :: WebView / Soft Keyboard / Forms Usability

May 1, 2009

The soft keyboard in 1.5 has the same behavior as the hard keyboard with respect to the enter key submitting forms. That's pretty reasonable for the hard keyboard as you can easily see that there are more fields to fill out, and can just tap the next field once to go there.

Android :: XScope Browser - Auto Save Forms Settings?

Sep 16, 2010

I'm using Xscope browser and picked the option to remember username/password on websites that I visit. However, my password has changed but it still tries to auto-populate the website fields with these values. Anyone know of a way to get it to stop so I can edit it with the new values?

When I contacted Xscope's developer, he mentioned that it wasn't any settings within the browser and that xScope doesn't store or manage it. The android webkit does. Anyone know what this means and where do I go to edit sites' field values the browser remembers?

HTC Eris :: KaosFroyo Slow Text Input

Aug 30, 2010

I was using xtrSense briefly right before I switched to KaosFroyo v31 and I must say I was very impressed with the responsiveness of xtrSense. That would be my first choice ROM for anyone wanting an Android 2.1 ROM with Sense.Since I switched to KaosFroyo I'm loving Android 2.2 (and missing my HTC sense weather widget,) however it's a good deal less responsive than xtrSense. I turned off JIT because I wanted to go the most stable route, and switched back to LauncherPro.Mostly I notice the reduced responsiveness when typing on the soft keyboard and when switching from portrait to landscape. What's the best way to improve responsiveness in KaosFroyo without overclocking more than "stock?"

LG Ally :: Text Message / Slow Phone

Oct 2, 2010

I recently got my wife an LG Ally because her add-on line was ready to upgrade and she wanted to try something new. She had a BB Curve before and didn't want to go for the free ugprade with the new Curve. I've had an HTC Incredible and for the most part love it. I knew that the LG Ally wasn't as "powerful" as the HTC Incredible. My wife told me today that her Ally sometimes won't send txt messages or will send more than one of the same txt message. She also complained about it being slow. What can I do to get rid of this problem for her? I was considering running the Task Killer although I know Android has its own way of managing memory and running applications so I didn't know if running Task Killer would actually do anything. I think its getting to the point where she is getting frustrated with the phone and I may have to return it, if it is even possible, after her having it just a few days. Any thoughts?

HTC Incredible :: Slow Google Voice Text / GMail Notification?

Jun 18, 2010

I'm having a problem with Google Voice. When I get an incoming text, I don't get any notification for it. I have inbox notifications checked, but it doesn't happen until I manually open the GV inbox, or sometimes not until I open the inbox and the specific conversation the message was a part of. This is true, even 8 hours later. So if I don't check my GV inbox/conversations for 8 hours, the phone gives me no notification of a message. I know this is not normal because a month ago I was having no problem with this. Could it be that I started using ADW Launcher a couple weeks ago? I haven't heard of any issues with this caused by ADW before Another thing I've experienced weird is the Gmail app. This morning I received 2 e-mails at about 7 and 8 a.m., though again I got no notification in the status bar and I had no idea I'd received the e-mails until I manually checked the Gmail app, even though notifications are enabled. This hasn't been a problem until a couple days ago. Thirdly, sometimes a friend will text my GV number and it will send to make phone's message inbox, not to GV. This only happens with one contact, and even then not all the time. My friend says he sends all of the texts to the same number, but I suspect he has my old number still in his phonebook and sometimes he just selects the wrong number, so I don't suspect it to be related, but this issue started happening at the same time as the other notification issues, so I thought I should include it.I would be very grateful for any help/advice you guys could provide!

The problem I was having was that one of the TextViews would turn grey when it wasn't supposed to. I tried fixing it by always setting the text to black again, but that turned every single one of them grey.

Until I tried:

CODE:................

Don't know why the latter works when setting text grey, but there it is. I guess I'm just a little retarded.

In other words, if no pin is entered, one must be able to use all but the phone on the device.

After all, the lock is for the SIM, not the device!
