I have been using wi-fi for some time now and now when I connect to my router, I cannot get any data connection. For example, if I am using last.FM and I turn on my wi-fi, I get an error that the app can no longer connect to the last.FM servers. If I turn off wi-fi, it starts working immediately. Same thing with the Internet.

I have a factory unlocked HTC Desire with the official 2.2 froyo firmware installed. When I turn on the wifi using the inbuilt HTC wifi widget, it takes about 10-15 seconds before the phone connects to my wifi router and the wifi icon is shown in the notification bar. I am using a Dlink dir-655 router. The settings that I have on the router are as follows:-
wireless mode: 802.11g only
encryption: wpa2 personal AES
mac filtering on (phone's mac address has been added to the list)
SSID is hidden
Other devices such as my laptop and nintendo wii connect to the wifi router within seconds.
What I would like to do is to connect my hero to the net but without using wifi or 3g as the cost would be to expensive. So is it possible to connect it directly to a router some way or another. The reason for asking is that I'm going on holiday soon and staying were there isnt any wifi but there is a router but i dont want to take my laptop. any chance of this working or not.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Hero can detect my router, but when I try and connect nothing happens. The dialogue box pops up asking for the WEP key, I put it in but nothing happens.
The router and phones wifi works though because I have another pc connected through wifi and I went to mcdonalds and it managed to connect to their hotspot.
Ive tried 64bit wep, 128bit wep, wpa/wpa2, ive also tried it disabled along with the routers firewall disabled but nothing seems to work. My router is a Belkin F5D8636-4
I've just moved house and got a new internet connection. Formerly my Magic was connected to my wireless router and all was well. It still connects to wifi hotspots etc. but it just can't see the new one. Two laptops and one notebook all work, as does my wife's iPhone. I'm not sure where to start looking. View 4 Replies View RelatedThere appears to be an issue with my Hero-router WiFi connection. Has anyone had similar experiences or have any advice? My Hero can generally see my home wireless router and report a good signal, though the visibility can drop out (when my other devices are still happily connected). It can also see my neighbors' networks, so it isn't a range issue.
For the most part, the Hero just doesn't seem to want to connect. If I reboot the router it will connect briefly for a couple of secs. I've tried altering a few of the router broadcast settings, trying b-only/ g-only/ b+g, but this hasn't helped (n isn't available, but I understand the Hero to be g anyway). I haven't yet been to another WiFi area, to check if it will connect to other networks. My suspicion is it is a specific compatibility issue with my router (Zoom).
My legend cant connect to the router at our home. It keeps asking for the password. When I type it en press connect it only gives a notion that it can't connect to the network. I have tried standing next to it or a couple of feet away but it doesn't work.

I have a 2wire router and the only time I've ever used the wireless Internet is with my buddies xbox 360. All we had to do there is type in the number code that was on the bottom of the router. When I type this code in on the Droid X it looks for an IP address but is unsuccessful, even when I am sitting right next to it. Does anyone now how I can get this to work? View 4 Replies View RelatedSo today i left the iphone world and got a HTC ONE, i like the phone so far but I can not get my phone to connect to my wireless network, I see the network but when i enter the password it tells me the password is incorrect, the password IS correct and I have even changed the password 2 times to try and connect. on the phone it cycles through authentication and connecting three times then it tells me its not the correct password. I went to a friends house and connected to his in one second.

I have it WPA encrypted but when I go to connect to it with my phone it shows the phone is seeing it as a WEP encryption. I tried manually changing it but it seems like that messes with it even more. I prefer not to change the encryption to WEP because of it's flaws and can easily be hacked. Maybe is there something I need to do to get my Droid to pick it up right?

If I go to Wireless & Networks in the settings and click Wi-Fi settings, I see it shows my router there and says "not in range, remembered" initially, but as soon as that page comes up, it connects. About a week before the new cell phone arrived, I replaced our old Netgear wireless router with a new Cisco-Linksys E2000 router. All was well, except my daughter's PC (XP Home) and my other daughter's laptop (Vista), could not connect to the router. Got the new X10, and it connected without any problem.
Then - trying to get the other two computers to connect, I changed the 801.b security from WAP2 Personal to WEP Shared (One of them has an old Linksys wireless adapter that won't allow anything but WEP). Then my daughters were both able to connect, but not the Xperia. I have tried everything I can think of - no success. I changed the router security mode to disabled, and I could not connect. I changed the Xperia to Static IP - no connection. I entered the password in both ASCII text and HEX, neither succeeded.
after changing some router settings (like the number of the channel) my SGS2 on 4.0.3 ICS doesn't connect anymore. WiFi itself is working fine, except the AP of the router i changed. Deleting all AP information and reentering all WPA2 data will change nothing. In my eyes the phone is not forgetting AP data completely when you try to delete an AP entry.

It never exits the loop. If i do not put the loop in, it just force closes and complains that it is not yet connected.

Therefor I start a scan (WifiManager.startScan()) and listen to BroadCastEvents of type SCAN_RESULTS_AVAILABLE_ACTION and NETWORK_STATE_CHANGED_ACTION. When the scan results are available, I check if my AP is found and if so I connect to it.
When I'm connected to the AP, I receive a NETWORK_STATE_CHANGED_ACTION and there I open a SocketConnection to my serverSocket. The problem I'm having is that on the moment that I'm connected to the AP, the DHCP request is not yet finished. This causes the opening of the socketConnection to throw a "SocketException: Network unreachable". A few moments later I see in the logcat logging: WifiStateTracker - DhcpHandler: DHCP request succeeded. If I try to connect after this message, all goes fine. is there an event that I can listen to that informs me that the DHCP request is done? Now I try to create a connection and while an error occurs I retry. This is however very dangerous for hanging (if e.g the dhcp fails, the loop will never stop...)
